@Agramonte How you got that from my comment is beyond me. That you did isn't, however.
I'm looking forward to seeing you bring up Final Fantasy 7 constantly and never once explaining why it is exempted from your disdain for old games. (If you want, just ask and I'll explain it to you. Your motivations are quite simple, really.)
@Agramonte Always great when a "new" comment reminds me that people believe asinine things like games stop being good or worth playing after they're a month old or get ported to another system.
If I could just buy the game and play it whenever I wanted to, I would. If I had to pay extra to play online I'd do that to. But at some point mobile players decided that paying upfront was some sort of evil, and this type of monetization is the result. Serves them right, and I don't blame any company that takes advantage of a system that the players themselves are responsible for.
@DrDaisy This can't the first time Nintendo has strung fans along with false promises because it isn't stringing fans along, and it hasn't been determined yet whether or not the promise of Bayonetta is false. Please overreact less in the future.
@WiltonRoots I figured I'd been gone long enough that NL may have curbed their propensity for hot takes/bad journalism, and at too many other sites you find communities that believe the most oppressive thing one can do is to believe a woman or write a well-rounded black character, so I thought I'd see what's up here again. I'm looking forward to the simple joy of being a Nintendrone again.
@Rodan2000 Asking people to stop and think isn't gaslighting, and if pointing out that a knee-jerk reaction is a knee-jerk reaction is belittling to the knee-jerker, let them be belittled; trying to rationally convince someone of their irrationality doesn't work, so might as well let shame at least curb the behavior.
@Wavey84 If you're going to be a graphics snob at least do it properly and advocate for a high-end PC, not a console. Compared to PCs at the time, when it was launched the PS4 was already out of date. Compared to PCs now, when it is launched the PS5 will already be out of date. Compared to PCs now the PS4 is laughably out of date. If there are any arguments for porting a game to PS4 in 2020, making it look better isn't one of them.
@Audiobrainiac What I can't wait for, since it will launch on every platform simultaneously, is a review that says something like "Of course it looks worse on the Switch, but the motion controls are so well done that you'd be a fool to use dual analog." It'd also be cool if Switch owners had an advantage in multiplayer for the same reason.
Am I the only one who realizes that there's no need to keep getting bigger SD cards because the Switch handles multiple cards with no problem whatsoever? Want to play a game not on your current card? Turn the Switch off, change cards, turn it back on. It takes less than a minute. You can buy a carrying case on eBay for five bucks, or whatever your local currency is, that's the size of two credit cards stacked, which means it easily fits into the Switch case that anyone who carries it around obviously has. When my second card fills I'll buy a third, but you can be damn certain it won't cost more than any of the games it will hold.
@WiltonRoots The best part about those comments is that, thanks to the ban on his primary account, they're uneditable now. He can't stealth-edit them to "prove" anybody is lying anymore.
@WiltonRoots Jeebus. I knew he was still obsessed with NL (and still thinks he's clever--he calls them "NintendoDeath"), but I didn't realize he was this obsessed. Not only is he posting here under an alt account, over at GoNintendo he is linking to his comments here. This is what he wrote, copied and pasted:
"I clicked on the link and unfortunately was redirected to that horrible site, NintendoDeath. But lo and behold as I read the comments for old times sake, I come across this gem.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I love that that person exposed that site for the charlatans they are. They ripped off another sites work. Classic NintendoDeath. That's made my day. This site deserves the credit."
Seriously, he is pretending to be two separate people just to insult NL elsewhere. I can't even fathom that level of obsession.
@Agramonte I found about fifty games over that time span worth spending $20 on. They're even full-fledged games that don't require quotation marks, and they're why my backlog is only growing despite playing multiple hours daily.
@Agramonte "that is not how I would write your comment" in no way summarizes what I was saying.
Guess we're adding knowing what I'm saying to the list of things you don't understand. I'm starting to think you honestly don't know what you yourself said. I'm sure you know what you think you said, but that's not the same thing.
Also, it is NOT fine to suggest people shouldn't be interested in AAA games. I think I've been very clear on this point.
@Agramonte Umm...I do get that concept. People can talk about what they like and what they don't. Had you merely said you'd be playing Red Dead 2 I'd have said nothing, because you're allowed to be interested in playing it.
That's not what you did.
You wondered how anyone else wouldn't be doing the same thing. And I've never once wondered how you or anyone else could be interested in AAA games, if you're trying to imply that I have.
Guess we're adding basic argumentation to the list of things you don't get.
@Agramonte Because not everyone has the same tastes as you. It's such a simple f^¢€¡ñ¿ concept. You might not want to demonstrate publicly that you don't get it.
@jhewitt3476 Have you considered that Nintendo is intentionally not bringing the Virtual Console to the Switch precisely so that there is a void @AloftStudio can fill? I don't think Nintendo screwed up that decision at all.
@WiltonRoots Yeah, I figured this was clickbait that wasn't worth my time, doubly so once I saw that @damo wrote it, who I'm still waiting on to answer a legitimate question about the lack of a Virtual Console on Switch. I guess he's playing too many pirated games to respond.
In a not entirely unrelated note, everyone's favorite Irish gamer still holds quite the grudge, and has taken to calling his least favorite site "NintendoDeath". He's not nearly as witty as he thinks he is, but he's also not exactly wrong.
@Octane Actually @IronMan30 's reply makes perfect sense. It was also the most concise way to make his point, and as such is worth approval, not ill-informed snark.
@c2017nlifemedia Calling "It will be impossible to buy a full copy of the game in fifty years" a problem is a canonical example of making a mountain out of a molehill. You were searching for things to complain about, and when you didn't find one you made one up.
@Agramonte For someone who adamantly and obsessively maintains that without hard numbers all conclusions are meaningless, you have no problem claiming that not making the top 30 means they didn't sell much. It implies no such thing. And I don't get why when developers say their game did well you don't simply believe them; are you in a better position to judge than they themselves?
@c2017nlifemedia "Art for art's sake" is a ridiculous opinion and I'm embarrassed I ever held it. Creators deserve recompense for their work just like everyone else.
@Crono1973 Report away. But it's absolutely true that your claims do not logically flow from one to the next, nor are your claims about what people have said supported by the words they used.
@BugsNNails Look at any weekly or monthly sales chart for 3DS and Wii U. VC games always dominated them. They'd have dominated the Switch charts, indies would have been affected the most, and your cherry picked examples don't disprove that, because they're statistical outliers either way. The average game, however, goes from 10,000 sales to 5,000, or from 5,000 to 500, or from 1,000 to dozens. The Switch is arguably the best place to play indies right now; that never would have happened if it had a Virtual Console.
@Crono1973 The same thing I thought about them not offering a manual for Breath of the Wild. Or Sony not offering a manual for The Last of Us Remastered. Keep up with this line of argument if you want to undermine yourself.
@BlueOcean @Leej07 @Crono1973 @0rwellianson It's amazing that it never seems to occur to most people that a corporation that has been in business since the nineteenth century has a reason behind every action they take. I assure you that they do. So everyone who thinks I'm blindly supporting Nintendo, please tell me why you think Nintendo doesn't have a Virtual Console on Switch. @damo, please tell everyone why you think they don't have a Virtual Console. Because they have a reason. Right or wrong, good decision or bad decision, tell me what you think it is.
Anyone who says "because they don't like money" is immediately disqualified.
@BlueOcean First, nobody has shown that the lack of a Virtual Console is either a ridiculous business decision or customer service failure. Second, I never said (or even implied) that anyone must defend all of Nintendo's actions. I was critiquing the opposite view, actually. A quick perusal of @Crono1973 's comments here, or any familiarity with his comments elsewhere (which I have, courtesy of his voluminous trolling) will allow you to conclude that his opinion is that he questions why anyone could defend any of Nintendo's actions; that he thinks everything they do is worthy of criticism. In Crono's mind everything they do is wrong. That he believes that and yet populates a fan site is the mark of a zealot. That is what I was saying.
But by all means, don't let anything get in the way of believing people fall into place in your narrative.
@Crono1973 Cute how you call this fan site "journalism". Remember, it was @damo who thought it was a good idea to take and tweet a picture of Kamiya at E3 while he was asleep. That's the sort of thing that doesn't even occur to actual journalists.
@0rwellianson I'm just going to assume you don't get the irony of your comment, nor that people who say "take a hike" are the least worth listening to.
@nintendobynature Yeah, no, the opinion of a fan site with a questionable journalistic track record now advocating piracy isn't going to change Nintendo's business model.
