@OnlyItsMeReid They gave you the tutorials at the start of the game. They do it in all Xenoblade games. The problem is they give it to you all at once. It's just too much to process so you forget about it until you're halfway through the game and look up a tutorial online. They should really just add a combat tutorial option to the main menu.
A little disappointed with the lack of Mega Evolutions. But all in all, this is a remake to introduce the younger generation of Pokémon fans to generation 4. They stuck close to the original but added some quality of life updates.
A lot of people try to compare BDSP to Let’s Go. Let’s go was a test for SwSh. This is a remake of a 2D DS game. I’m pretty sure my niece is going to love the chibi art style of characters and the diorama style of the overworld.
The game was developed by by a 3rd party, so they probably didn’t have authorization to make the changes some fans were expecting. But who knows, maybe we’ll see some DLC with something interesting.
@Scapetti There are a lot of graphical issues. But worst of all is the characters in the original were horribly detailed polygon-wise, but the textures gave them a lot of personality. The new high-poly count characters look more like generic NPCs.
The delay till 2022 isn't exactly news, but I was hoping for Jan/Feb not Q3 and beyond. I looked into this a few months ago and it turns out the development cycle has been insane. They allegedly switched engines mid-development, but game was still on the drawing board at that point; they hadn't hammered out core gameplay or feature set. Development didn't get into full swing until around October 2020. It's basically been in development for a year now, plus or minus a week. Hopefully the writers and artists have been more productive over the past 4 years.
I like the character lineup. I just hope it's mechanically sound and well polished. This'll either be absolutely amazing or a complete disaster. There is no in-between.
I loved Pikmin 1 for the story and new setting. The original design of the onions was cute and clever, as was their ufo like design. The only thing I disliked was the strict 30-day time limit. Last time I played I got up to the last level with one day left and very few pikmin. I could not grab that last part for a 100% completion.
Hours played is essentially meaningless since it also counts time in standby. You can do the same by opening the app, putting it in sleep mode, and leaving it in the dock for 1 year and 52 days.
Console just means it has a display and buttons used to interact with it. Handhelds and game and watch fit. Technically, the tomagachi and digivices are consoles as well.
It’s final smash is euthanasia, where it puts down the other player’s pet dogs and cats. Anyone who supports PETA either doesn’t know anything about the organization aside from it’s name, or they’re absolute psychopaths.
This was the main-series first final fantasy I ever played from start to finish. I should be finishing FFXV this week and getting my first Platinum Trophy. The story line from IX is definitely geared towards a younger audience, but I think it'll shape up to be a fantastic series for anyone who enjoys fantasy. I'm particularly excited to see the environments brought to life. I just hope they do justice to Vivi's story.
I'm kinda glad it's not great on the switch. Handheld mode is just a disaster in the waiting. The game really gets the adrenaline flowing. The forces the average user is going to exert on the controller is going to cause the Joy-Con shells to start cracking around the screws. Pro controller would be fine.
As a longtime fan of the series, I can't wait to play it on my PS4 Pro, I did just upgrade to a 55" 4K 60fps UHD. After 15 year's, my 42-inch's screen was looking as faded as my DS lite's.
If anything, Nintendo is in talks with Apple on designing a chip for the Switch Pro. The power efficiency and thermals of the M-series chips would really benefit the next-gen portable console. I doubt we'll see Ray tracing on the Switch Pro, but we probably will see 4K HDR.
I love the style the Pokémon company is actually going with for the remakes. For the remakes, I think it’s important to stay mechanically true to the original. Maintaining the grid based movement system is a huge part of that.
It seems the remakes are part of the mega evolution universe, so as long as they add them we’ll be in good shape.
I’m hoping Nintendo continues its Let’s Go series. This concept would be perfect for that.
@BLD If you continued to read you would notice that approach is only 1 of 3 approaches the courts can take when deciding the issue. And its the only one where the trademark isn't lost. The second approach is more relevant to the Joy-Con trademark as it is widely infringed upon. By failing to take action, they risk the mark becoming generic.
You aren't going to like this, but Nintendo had no choice because this is a trademark infringement, not a copyright issue. Companies have some leeway in choosing whether or not to initiate a lawsuit in regards to copyright. Trademark is different. Legally, you must always defend your trademark claim against any and all violations or you lose it. It's that simple. If Nintendo didn't pursue this, they would have lost their claim on the Joy-Con trademark.
Got the e-mail saying it was delayed until the 24th on thursday. Yesterday I Amazon still said I was going to get it by 8pm. Today it shipped via USPS. And just got an alert I got a refund of over $10 for pre-order price protection.
This conference was meant to draw developers, not customers. They're hoping to draw developers so that they have some gameplay footage from the new consoles for the final reveal. As a programmer, that was very interesting and can't wait to see what developers can pull off with it. The actual hardware reveal is going to be epic.
I don't know if he's really going to have the power to make real change at GameStop. He's only one board member and the rest of the board has demonstrated time and time again that they have no interest in treating their employees or customers with any respect or human decency.
Why would you do this to yourself? And for the record, I'm not talking about the no damage playthrough. Generation 4 was the worst generation of pokemon games. The balance of types pre-national dex was abysmal. The elite 4 and champion were the most difficult of all 8 generations. This is honestly one of the greatest achievements I have seen.
The companies probably aren't profiting from the slave labour; they're probably getting charged the usual Chinese labour rate. The Chinese Communist Party is the one making money off of the slave labour. Also, it's a little odd Volkswagen isn't on the list. They opened their factory in Xinjiang shortly after China started rounding up Uyghurs.
I have every console but the Xbox One X (I got the S to play 4k Blu-rays in a place with slow internet...). The only one's I play are my Switch and Switch Lite. I still have to finish FF15 on the PS4... It's been like 2-3 years since I've played and I'm in the final chapter. I need to cancel those recurring charges for xbox live and ps+.
My only issue with Nintendo console hardware is my original SNES. Maybe 6 years ago, certain games started to experience visual artifacts. It's not the carts, they work fine on another SNES. Mainly phantom copies of enemies and blocks in Mario games. Donkey Kong 1/2/3 and Megaman X/X2/X3 work fine. Major drift issues on Gamecube controllers and Joycon(thanks for the fix).

Re: Best Of 2022: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?
My original model could definitely use a new battery, but is otherwise near-pristine. With nearly 1800 hours in portable mode… not bad.
