Re: Developers Reportedly Still Struggling To Get Switch 2 Dev Kits

Omarzy

I’m sure some tariff related price increase will make me somewhat relieved I bought the switch 2 on launch day, but it really seems that Nintendo isn’t prepared to properly support the console (based only on what we have seen and know as consumers)

The two biggest releases began on switch 1, and in DK’s case, began development 4 years ago and it SHOWS.

Why are they telling devs to release on switch 1? Who in their right mind would waste time optimizing for the switch 1 in 2025.

This is reminding me of the 3DS. I would be so comically angry watching Nintendo put major 1st party releases on the 3DS up through the release of the switch.

They need to start creating some consumer confidence and it’s not by doing this or announcing games 5 years too early.

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

Omarzy

@nhSnork that was a whole lotta nothing. It’s not about sticking it to anyone. It’s that Nintendo offers crappy options to the consumer. They offer a bad service, so people look elsewhere. The day part of the appeal of a Nintendo game doesn’t include “wow it looks really amazing for a Nintendo game” is the day I’ll stop supporting piracy. Also, if someone, anyone, is actually price locked out of gaming, and they can’t afford to maintain a hobby they probably have enjoyed for many years, I don’t care what they do.

As someone who has purchased and owned every console, if someone told me they didn’t want to pay 400 dollars to play XC or Pokémon or Zelda or whatever with offensive framerates, less than muddy textures and ps2 animations (not that emulation really fixes that last one) i would have nothing at all to say to them. Don’t steal?

I look forward to more replies with them fancy 10 dollar words (thank you True Detective for that phrase)

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

Until Nintendo decides to make hardware that isn't literally over a DECADE underpowered and stops keeping games at full price for 10 billion years, or charging us a fee for a service so we play games they stopped printing 30 years ago or whatever, I don't care how much money they lose or if people steal from them. It should be illegal to build a fanbase over decades and then keep the IPs hostage on continiously weaker hardware since the gamecube.

Not even going to play the whole "some people actually play their backups" card because I don't feel the need to use that as a defense. Steal, steal, steal.

Re: Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Has Been Released From Prison

Omarzy

I'm genuinely surprised at the amount of blatant, shameless bootlicking that goes on here. Nintendolife would be surefire support base for a legit dictatorship if "those were rules"

Profit is inherently exploitative, so I don't know how Nintendo can even be defended.

Really break this down. A human being was sent to prison and is now almost guaranteed to be living in poverty until he dies because he cost a literal lifeless entity some money they made back the literal day they discovered they "lost" it.

A human being, a living person has been sentenced to give up his actual livelihood to a company that would, evidently, squash you like a bug if it wanted and people cheer.

its f*c%&ng terrifying how lost we are as a society.

Re: "What Do I Care?" - Nintendo Hacking Mastermind Defiant As Colleague Bowser Is Jailed

Omarzy

Does anyone have any actual reason to oppose this other than “stealing” = illegal = immoral. It’s such a poor argument. The opposition seems to be against the arbitrary “illegal-ness” of the act more-so than the act itself.

It’s the only possible way I could see make someone sympathize with a billion dollar company with a long list of anti-consumer policies.

The question, then, is why would anyone want to do that?

Re: Random: Family Video Closes Its Doors After 42 Years

In the face of the disgustingly wealthy become far wealthier during this pandemic, the lack of, and actual resistance to, direct financial assistance to actual working and struggling families/people is beyond criminal. Kings have lost their heads for much less. Make no mistake, however - this is the result of the economic system working exactly as intended.

Re: Nintendo Cancels Splatoon 2 NA Open Livestream, "Free Melee" Believed To Have Played A Part

Omarzy

Imagine going with this assumption, and still backing Nintendo in this situation. Would you who are doing that like a drink to wash down that boot you are swallowing, not just licking?

Also, can people stop with the BS "defense" of Nintendo by stating that "Well, they are a company, so what do you expect?" UH, idk, BETTER?? lol. What is the logic in accepting BS BECAUSE its BS? That's like not doing anything about a playground bully because its in the bully's nature to bully lol.

How embarrassing.

Re: Early Build Of Pokémon Sword Allegedly Leaked Online

Omarzy

@Heavyarms55 It is not a hatred. This is how people who have loved a franchise for decades react when they, and the games, have been done a disservice in the form of uninspired game development since X/Y. Pokemon deserves so much better, so so much better and thats all we want for it. Simple. Pokemon could be the AAA face of Nintendo. However, efforts need to be made to challenge the Pokemon Company as well, since the PC's insistence on a new TV series and toys every year require a new game to release first, no matter the quality.

Re: Online Retailer Adds Mention Of 'Switch Pro Consoles', But Does It Mean Anything?

Omarzy

It is obviously common sense to not simply believe rumors. However, while smoke doesn't necessarily mean fire, there isn't a lot else it CAN be and it is also silly to just ignore and dismiss so much smoke. Open, but critical mind, ok people? I swear, based on the comments on these pieces, I get the feeling that some of you are vehemently AGAINST a significantly upgraded Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle

Omarzy

It was severely outdated when it released and struggles with some of the earlier PS4/XBO games. They should move on to the next, more powerful system sooner rather than later. This isn't just about getting third party support going forward, Nintendo's own first party games are being held back so needlessly. "GaMEplaY OVer GraPHIcs". Games looking and running better in every way will certainly not hinder gameplay. It only makes it better.

However, Nintendo does well in its own club It may be too late for Nintendo to start directly competing and I don't necessarily want them to since they are my fav game company and want to see them succeed, but barely hitting 720p and 30fps for major 3rd party releases or 900p/25-45 fps for first party games should not be given a pass when we have the PS5 and Series X releasing this year.

Re: Pokémon Fans Get 'Game Freak Lied' Trending As Sword And Shield Drama Intensifies Yet Again

Omarzy

@sanderev I reject “you’re too old”. Aside from Fire Emblem, there isn’t a single -that I can think of - first or second party IP that is inherently more “mature” than Pokemon. If I don’t hear “you’re too old” for Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, then I shouldn’t have to hear it as an excuse for Pokemon, especially when the entries up to and including the DS entries were just so much better. I’m not “too old” because I want GF to do better than upscaled PS2 animations and visuals. Also at least trying to make it look like you’re still passionate about the franchise would help.

Re: Pokémon Fans Get 'Game Freak Lied' Trending As Sword And Shield Drama Intensifies Yet Again

Omarzy

Stop defending GF, stop saying “who cares”. I care, we care about Pokemon and how it is being handled and ignored. It’s being considered a B-series at this point by Nintendo and GF. Even on the 3DS, look at what was being done with other Nintendo IP, look at what has been accomplished with FE, Zelda, Mario, Smash, Luigi etc.. on the Switch. Then you have GF being “excited” for us to try out the damn camera in the wild area. A freaking movable camera in 2019 and they’re exited for us to “try” that? They’re just out of touch and the fact that Pokemon has been treated as a mediocre franchise for the last few entries is being shown and accepted. This is not what the Switch entry for the biggest media franchise on earth and one of the most beloved and celebrated series on Nintendo hardware is supposed to be. It’s lazy.

This list has some other examples of just the all around “We don’t give a sh**” approach that GF is taking.

https://amp.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/dv438w/complete_list_of_all_problems_known_so_far_in/

These people complaining are not random people, they’re people who have followed Pokemon for decades and want it to be a respectable franchise.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

Omarzy

I bought Pokemon and Smash digital because I didn't want to switch between them and other games and I can't see myself going back. I have a stack of physical boxes, but I've never actually looked at them since I bought them. Plus, I have become really annoyed with switching out games.

I'm sure I'll switch back for a little while once my memory fills up, since I don't want to switch out memory sticks. That would be awful.

Re: Editorial: It's Far Too Soon to Go Download-Only, and Physical Retail Still Matters

Omarzy

It's the simple pleasure of not having to switch out SMM for SSB that makes me think digital is going to be the future. I usually buy physical, but if i had the space on my hardware to have every game installed on it, i can't say i would choose switching out discs and such.

Used games is what keeps me mostly physical. I like being able to buy older or somewhat older games for a low low price. Seeing games from years and years ago on the PSN or eShop for 29.99 when it is 9.99 on a shelf at Gamestop isn't helping digital downloads.

Re: Iwata Defends Identical Digital and Retail Prices

Omarzy

if the games cost more than the physical copies then people by the physical copies. if the games cost less than the physical copies then people only buy the digital ones. have them be the same price and 17 million 3DS become 17 million retail stores.
