Re: The Switch eShop Is A Nightmare, So We've Made Our Own "Better eShop"

Naoto-chi

I'd love to have the language option to be entirely separate from the country, or at least let us select English regardless of what country because the Swedish one isn't even 10% Swedish.

I'd love to help translate everything properly if you need it, wouldn't be bad for me since I want to build up a portfolio for translation work.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Monster Hunter Stories (Switch)

Naoto-chi

@Sakaixx Since the game is essentially a port of the mobile version with controller support for all consoles there shouldn't really be any noticable performance differences between the consoles.

This game came out on mobile around 7 years ago, so it is definitely not graphically intensive as it ran decently on a Samsung Galaxy S7 at that time.

Re: Thunderful Games' 3DS And Wii U eShop Sale Is Now Live (EU)

Naoto-chi

@Sir_Axeman Just want to warn you, the ones who made the original Harvest Moon games did not make Skytree Village. They have moved on to make Story Of Seasons instead so SoS is considered the real Harvest Moon games.
Skytree Village is really bad. Like characters T-posing during every conversation bad.

Re: Persona 3 Portable Audio Patch Supposedly In The Works For Switch

Naoto-chi

Bought the game day 1 on switch and the audio quality was the first thing I noticed.
I have the original, both on my PSP and my Vita, and so I can say that the sound is clearly way better quality on the original console. In the switch version it kind of sounds like they're speaking with their mouths covered, or as if they are further away in a big room...
So not very good, but the game is still fun to play so I don't mind too much at that price point. Would be much happier if they fixed the audio though.

Re: Nintendo Download: 18th August (Europe)

Naoto-chi

Never thought that I would see The Room 2 get released on the Switch!
I loved the first game and ended up buying the first 3 games on Steam, gonna save up for the VR game and then buy the second game on Switch.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback

Naoto-chi

It is annoying to see Game Freak make seemingly less effort, lie and come up with excuses instead of solving the problems that lead to them making unpolished products.
They should either hire more people, they can definitely afford it as thry are not a small indie game developer and make a LOT of money every year, from movies, games, collectibles and toys.
Or if they don't want to get a bigger team, go back to school for a bit to learn the modern tech stuff.
Or they could ask Nintendo for a team to help them polish the game to make it look nicer on the switch, they are literally one of Nintendo's biggest exclusives and I doubt Nintendo would refuse to help them.

But I gotta admit I'm hopeful for BDSP and Legends Arceus.
BDSP is being developed by a different company and their trailers show significant changes that makes them look better between each one compared to Game Freaks early and late trailers that look almost exactly the same.
Hopefully Game Freak will be able to produce a more polished game now that they can focus on Legends Arceus. I can only hope for the best.

Re: Poll: Pokémon Sword And Shield Launched A Year Ago, Has Your Opinion On Them Changed?

Naoto-chi

Spoiler warning!

The game and DLC exceeded my expectations, but that is mostly because my expectations were low to begin with...

Before the games release I had followed all the Pokemon news and the pre-release demo players reactions as well as a few youtubers who usually talk about leaks, news and expectations for the games.

It painted a slightly bleak picture for me, but I was still mostly hopeful so I pre-ordered Shield as I usually do with Pokemon games together with a friend and then I played it as soon as it was released and it seemed rather fun.
Then I noticed that the game kept tugging me to the next part of the story and I started to get annoyed but I thought "Maybe it is only like this in the beginning?" while the game told me to go to the inn, then as soon as I go outside it reminds me to go to the in and escorts me to where I need to go before telling me once again that I need to go inside the inn.
I am not a toddler, I have an attention span that is longer than 10 seconds, thank you very much.

But then I find out that basically all paths outside of the wild area are pretty much straight roads where the few deviating paths only lead to boring dead ends.
Where's the explorations?

A lot of the exciting action happens offscreen and the story was really annoying instead of interesting for the most part. I kinda liked Hop but he was not a good rival as he pretty much looses against almost everyone. He doesn't feel like a person you work hard to defeat in your battles or even like he is a remotely competent trainer competetively.

Overall the main game was about a 4/10 for me, easily the lowest even compared to SM/USUM.

After the first DLC was release I gave the game another go and was slightly happier with it as the wild area there looked a bit better and the rival was much more interesting personality-wise. But being around level 70 made beating him too easy.
Then I got tired almost immediately and took a break from the game until Crown Tundra was released. That part of the DLC was much more interesting.

The map was fun to run around for the first 2 hours, battling and capturing the Regis were truly difficult and the puzzles where enjoyable.
And then helping the big new DLC legendary with his request was a really interesting way of introducing him!

Unfortunately I don't really like the Dynamax Adventures because I mostly get stuck with pretty lousy teammates, both the random NPC's and other players have been really frustrating to play with and I wish there was a way to play through those adventures solo. There have been a few good moments though, but they are too rare.

Overall the DLC made the game a 5.5/10 for me. So I enjoy it, but well, as I said before I also went in with really low expectations which is probably why I didn't stop playing the game after the 2 gym.

Re: Professor Layton Dev Level-5 Has No Plans For Future Games Outside Of Japan, Says Report

Naoto-chi

@Xylnox Yes! It is more like Log Horizon than SAO, seeing that they can't really die and just respawn instead.

Just go into any Sakura/Shibuya world and you can find them all over the place, it's where they feel the most at home since they are stuck there...
While you're at it, tell them anything you have heard about from the outside world, they always appreciate hearing news from home.

Re: Professor Layton Dev Level-5 Has No Plans For Future Games Outside Of Japan, Says Report

Naoto-chi

@GilbertXI
I started learning japanese using Genki, the books are expensive but in used condition you could get a decent deal.
The free to use website Glosor.eu was good for memorising all the new words. Plus there is a rather good game for ds, My Japanese Coach, or at least I think it was called something like that...
Other than that, chatting with people in japanese VRChat worlds can be really effective. (You don't need VR to play the game and it's free)
Good luck

Re: The Remaster Of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Won't Support Local Multiplayer

Naoto-chi

@ShadJV Well, I'm not saying that they must delay the game I just want them to add the local co-op one way or another. If they release an update for it later I am fine with that as well. But not all of my friends have NSO, and I still want to be able to play with them.
Also, I think we might have misunderstood each other a bit. Local co-op doesn't mean just playing on one system. It also means playing together on separate systems in the same room, just not using the internet.
I want to be able to play the game offline with my friends like in Monster Hunter.
But I wouldn't mind if they made a similar system to the old one but just let people use their phones instead of a Gameboy Advance in order to let people enjoy that experience. Which it sounds like they will do something similar to at least.

So to be more clear: I don't think that they must have local co-op on it's release or that they must delay the game for it, I just want them to add it as there is no reason to force people to use NSO.

Re: Pokémon Unite, An Online Team Battle Game, Revealed For Switch And Mobile

Naoto-chi

I just wish they would wait with making all these random games until they have at least released all parts of Sword and Shields DLC. That game needs more work before they take focus away from it to work on other games.
It still doesn't feel like a high quality Switch game to me.
All the horrible pop-in and extreme weather changes from walking a small distance in the wild area should be tweaked. And I would really like an actual cave instead of a single pathway through the mountains. I miss caves like the Seafoam Islands cave and I miss exploring places like Mt. Coronet.
Old ruins where also one of my favorite things to explore in older Pokemon games. And the puzzles were really fun!
I just miss the exploration. There's not really any exploration in the new games. It just feels like there is this single road that the game forces you to go on as soon as you start the game, and if you try to go the opposite way it will keep reminding you that you are not supposed to go there now.
It feels like beyond handholding at this point. It's more like I'm being dragged around in a baby cart so that the game can show me the story instead of letting me just play the game. Also, why make it impossible to catch higher level pokemon?! Just use the old system where pokemon that are too high level will simply disobey you until you get enough badges!
At least I get a little more to "explore" now that the first part of the DLC is released...

Re: Soapbox: This Little Plastic Disc Has Enriched My Animal Crossing: New Horizons Experience

Naoto-chi

@Octane Not all DLC is paid DLC, if Nintendo released it as free DLC for those who wanted to have that option I would find that to be rather nice.
Though at the same time, if they do that the AC amiibo's wouldn't be worth as much and turn into little more than a physical collectible.
Still, would be nice to have the option to choose at least some villagers if there is one that you really, really want.

Re: Poll: After 24 Hours, How Are You Getting On With Pokémon HOME?

Naoto-chi

I don't like how much is in only one version of Home, I would prefer if most functions where in both instead.
I am also really mad that they made Friend Trade local only. That means that I only can trade with one friend. I have friends in other contries and I would like to be able to trade with them properly. It also makes no sense that they made only Friend Trade local only, having the option of trading locally is good but there should also be a global friend trade option.
Also, they need to fix GTS. If you can't trade a certain pokemon it shouldn't let you ask for it.
As it is now, I don't think it's worth the price.
But I do believe that they will improve the app in the future, and I will use the premium month I paid for to move the pokemon I want from bank to home then I'll just use the basic plan until I feel that Home has improved enough to be worth it.

Re: Poll: What To Expect From The Pokémon Direct - Post Your Pokémon Predictions

Naoto-chi

I think they will show us Pokemon Home and then release it soon after the Direct is finished. Hopefully a national dex update but I doubt it...

And a reveal for Diamond and Pearl remakes that will include all the extra stuff that was in Platinum along with some changes for a better gameplay balance, like more fire type pokemon in the wild.

Looking forward to the Direct tomorrow!

Re: There Are "No Plans" To Bring The Full Pokédex To Pokémon Sword And Shield, And Future Games Will Follow Suit

Naoto-chi

@playstation_king I guess you have a point there, it's definitely easier to complete the national dex when there is none...
I hope some of my favorite pokemon are in the new games, like Piplup, Pachirisu or Minccino.
I do look forward to Sword and Shield's release though, even have a countdown timer on my phone's home screen and I made plans for a meet-up with a few friends on the day of it's release so that we can start playing the new games together.

Re: New Game-Changing Features Revealed For Pokémon Sword And Shield

Naoto-chi

@SpaceboyScreams
Thanks! I completely missed these, too many fake evolution pictures on the internet.

@RennanNT
I guess.

@Yorumi
Yeah, I hated that SM/USUM had to show what attacks were effective in a battle since I really feel like that is ridiculous babying. Usefull for newcomers but they could at least have had an option to turn it off... Or maybe I missed that option? Still have some cool Pokémon designs and the world looks great. Plus totem pokémon + the Island trials where really interesting.

@Mana_Knight
Those are some of my favorite parts. I remember the first time I was in Team Rockets hideout, running around for almost an hour because my little child brain couldn't remember were I had been and who I had fought. I wanted to complete Pokémon Leaf Green 100%, never did manage to get all the pokemon back then but I later realized that you needed a friend with a copy of the other game and a link cable to complete the pokedex...
Awesome times.

Even if there are some things that I don't like in the latest Pokémon games I am still sure that I will end up enjoying it, along with my friends who are also getting it. Unfortunately my BF is not getting Pokémon Sword/Shield because he thought that they felt like they lacked too much compared to the older games.

Re: New Game-Changing Features Revealed For Pokémon Sword And Shield

Naoto-chi

I'm not really a fan of being able to switch pokémon from your box at any time. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I feel like that makes the game a bit too easy... For example, all of your current pokémon are low on health, instead of trying to get to the closest pokémon center while avoiding all trainers and tall grass you just switch out your current team with pokémon that are full health.
But being able to name a traded pokémon that doesn't have a nickname is great.
I guess I'll ignore the box when I'm not in a pokécenter since I prefer that, and I hope we get to see the starter evolutions soon.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st January (Europe)

Naoto-chi

I bought Stella glow last week... This annoys me so much. But I will buy RPG Maker Fes and Legend of Legacy at a discount at least. And probably the Shin Megami Tensei games as well.
Best 3DS discounts in a looooooooooong while, haven't been a good 3DS eshop sale for almost 2 years.

Re: Rumour Buster: No, Sony Isn't Launching A New PlayStation Portable To Rival Switch

Naoto-chi

If the learn from their mistakes they could probably make a good handheld. The vita's biggest problems was the storage and lack of games in the west. But I still have my vita and my PSP because they are still good, but the vita could definitely be better if it had more games and used microSD cards for storage.
Don't think they would be much of a competition compaired to Nintendo's though...

Re: Guide: The Best Pokémon Games - Every Mainline Pokémon Game Ranked

Naoto-chi

My top 3 would be:
3. Fire Red/ Leaf Green
2. Black/White/Black 2/White 2 (shared second because they are equally good)
1. Diamond/Pearl/Platinum

My first ever Pokemon game played was red, green or yellow. I can't really remember which one but I was around 8 and a friend let me play a little bit on his Gameboy Color.
My very first own Pokemon game was Leaf Green, the Nintendo DS Lite had just been released and I was just 10 dollars short of buying the DS as my first console so I ended up buying a pink GBA SP AGS 101 along with Catz. I asked my parents for Pokémon Fire Red and when christmas came around I got leaf Green and I was so, so happy.
I spent over a month playing the game after bedtime, under my covers trying not to get caught.
Now that I'm older I realise that they definitely noticed, but let me do it for a bit because I didn't really cause any big trouble and if I played too long they would just ask if I was awake and that would make me turn off the gameboy immediately and go to sleep so that they "wouldn't notice" that I had played games after bedtime. I was around 9 then.
Then came the time when I finally, finally got my hands on a DS and a few games, I got to choose 3 games of which one was Pokémon Diamond. I really loved Diamond, to the point where I would bring my DS with me everywhere so that I could play it. I would even make a makeshift mini-tent with my jacket so that I could play the game outside between classes. It was this game that really got me into the Pokemon series.
Later I bought Pokemon Black and my brother gave me his copy of Black 2 after he got tired of video games and I spent almost 2 months playing them as much as I could during the summer. It was one of the best summers ever...

I love Pokémon, I now preorder all the main games because I know they will not disappoint me. They are still as enjoyable as when I got my first Pokemon game, and I look forward to playing Let's go Eevee and Pokémon RPG.
I also sincerely hope that they will make a gen IV remake, because I love the pokemon designs and my favorite starter, Piplup, is there! But also because it's the most annoying one to transfer Pokemon from, you can only transfer a maximum of 6 at a time and only to BW/B2W2 before putting them in any newer games, or the Pokebank.

Re: Hold Me, Virtual Console Data Has Been Discovered In The Nintendo Switch eShop

Naoto-chi

I would love to play some GBC, GBA and NDS titles on switch!
And this reminded me about how Nintendo recently started forcing a lot of rom sites to remove all Nintendo games, so maybe it is possible that we'll get VC on the Switch?

Though I'm still waiting for a Pokémon Gen 4 remaster and Rune Factory 5...
Would love to get RF5, wether on switch or 3DS, though if they make a Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum remake I hope it's for the 3DS.

Hope to hear more about VC on Switch soon!

Re: Talking Point: What We Love And Hate About The Nintendo Switch Online Smartphone App

Naoto-chi

I use Teamspeak 3, it is free on PC and if you want it on android there is a one time payment of about 5 dollars which I thought was an okay price.

Simple to use, and works better than discord and Skype in my case.
Despite having an internet connection that can reach 80% packet with a 50/10 speed I still experience minimal disconnections on my phone and it reconnects really quickly.
I recomend TS3 to those who have a slow or bad internet connection.

Unfortunately I was not quite satisfied with NSO however, so I won't be using it when playing on my switch...

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th September (Europe)

Naoto-chi

Little Dragon's Café, I love Rune Factory so I couldn't possibly let this game pass me by! I hope for a new Story of Seasons or Rune Factory game to be announced during the Nintendo Direct but I doubt that would happen.

Re: Nintendo Direct Delayed Due To Powerful Earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan

Naoto-chi

@NintendoPete
People have died in the earthquake. Some may be family members of Nintedo's workers, and there are still people missing. Japan is more worried about the people's safety than the presentation, and if the workers are worried for their relatives in the affected area they should not have to deal with holding a presentation on top of not knowing wether their relatives are safe or not.

My heart goes out to all those who are affected by the earthquake and I hope that there will be no more deaths.
