Upcoming Switch 2 games
Image: Nintendo Life

Juggling two consoles is hard work for some, but not for Nintendo. While the Switch 2 is the primary focus for the Big N, don't ever count the Switch 1 out. 2025 was a busy one, with the Switch 2's launch really filling out the roster and finally giving us some long-awaited titles and big launch-window hitters, but 2026 sees Nintendo branching out a little bit.

Leading the charge on Switch 2 from the Big N are Star Fox, Splatoon Raiders, and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, while on Switch 1, Rhythm Heaven is making a return.

Third party support is also proving to be amazing on the new console, with blockbuster releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis coming to Nintendo audiences.

That's all without a major Nintendo Direct, too! On the cusp of a June Direct (it's surely happening, right?) and release of some heavy hitters from the year - Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Bubsy 4D, Mina The Hollower and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth among them - we've rounded up 35 or so of the games coming to Nintendo Switch systems in 2026 (and a couple beyond, too - we couldn't help ourselves).

Make sure you let us know what you're most excited for in the comments.

Denshattack! (Switch 2)

TBC

Need some Jet Set Radio in your life, but with trains? Denshattack! certainly looks the part, with its gorgeous and explosive colour palette, and with precise tricks and skills to pull off, you'll look like the coolest train imaginable.

Yes, you read that right — train. Your mode of transport isn't roller blades or even a car. And this game bills itself as an action-adventure platformer. But with high scores to hit, who is going to worry about progressing when you look this cool?

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (Switch 2)

Launch date

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a bit of a mouthful, right? Fortunately, the HD-2D action RPG looks pretty darn tasty, with beautiful visuals and a robust combat system that we're looking forward to diving into.

With multiple upgradeable weapons and an open world to explore, this gives us the early '90s action RPG vibe we've been craving.

Star Fox (Switch 2)

Launch date
25th June 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yep

After surprising everyone by popping up in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Fox McCloud is back with a new game. Well, a new reimagining, let's say.

Star Fox is a Switch 2 cinematic take on Star Fox 64, which is going for a slightly-more realistic look. And boy, do some of those levels look gorgeous. Multiplayer options, Mouse Mode controls, and a ton more features will flesh out the experience. Fox really, truly, is back.

Rhythm Heaven Groove (Switch)

Launch date
2nd July 2026
Platform
Switch 1
Physical?
TBC, but we hope

A new Rhythm Heaven game, finally! rejoiced millions upon seeing Rhythm Heaven Groove revealed during the March 2025 Direct. 2026!?!?!?! they collectively gasped as their joy collided with the realities of game development and scheduling.

But hey, we're only a few months out from release now, and the fact it's coming is reason enough for great joy and gratitude.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok (Switch 2)

Launch date
9th July 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
TBC

Remember when we spent years waiting for Granblue Fantasy: Relink on other platforms? Well now Switch 2 owners get to join in the co-op action RPG goodness with an expanded release, which includes an all-new expansion.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok adds a new story, new characters, a new solo mode, master traits, and cross-play with other platforms. An excellent bundle, if we do say so ourselves. If you want to know more about the base game, have a read of Push Square's review below.

Digimon Story Time Stranger (Switch 2)

Launch date
10th July 2026
Platform
Switch 1 & 2
Physical?
Yes on Switch, GKC on Switch 2

It was only a matter of time until the latest Digimon Story game made the jump to Switch, but we're getting it on both Switch 1 and Switch 2. Digimon Story Time Stranger focuses on the organisation of ADAMAS who are investigating digital anomalies in Tokyo. And, of course, many of them feature Digimon.

It's much more of an RPG-heavy series than Pokémon, and with tons of Digimon combinations and evolutions to unlock, you'll be busy with this one for a while.

Ratatan (Switch 2)

Launch date
16th July 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
TBC

If Ratatan reminds you of a certain Bandai Namco rhythm game, well, it's no coincidence — this rhythmic roguelike is from some of the team behind the adorable Patapon, but it goes beyond its spiritual predecessor.

Four-player online co-op, beautiful 2D animation, randomised levels and elements. The game has been getting great feedback in early access on Steam, and we hope the Switch 2 version can carry on that success.

Splatoon Raiders (Switch 2)

Launch date
23rd July 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Probably

When Nintendo announced Splatoon Raiders via a Nintendo Today! announcement (no, really, everyone was scrambling), we had no idea what to think. But with a new 2026 trailer and a July release date, that's all changed.

Splatoon is going single-player for this Switch 2 spin-off, with the Deep Cut trio joining a 'Mechanic' as you hunt for treasure. It's something different for the series, which makes us even more excited.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 (Switch 2)

Launch date
27th Aug 2026
Platform
Switch 1 & 2
Physical?
Yes on Switch, Game-Key Card on Switch 2

It was only a matter of time before Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally be available on consoles other than PS3.

Alongside that, we're also getting Ghost Babel and Peace Walker. And the package is coming to Switch 1 as well — we're definitely curious to see how MGS4 holds up on the older system.

Final Fantasy XIV Online (Switch 2)

Launch date
August 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Unlikely

The critically-acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is coming to a Nintendo console, 13 years after it made its debut! Of course, the game has been through a lot of changes and has seen many expansions over the years, and it'll be arriving on Switch 2 before the next big expansion, Evercold.

Crafting and gathering on-the-go seem to be the dream, but it looks pretty impressive from the very little we've seen. There will be a beta period before the game fully launches, but after that, you'll need to pay a subscription to play — and, if you want to double dip as a PC or PS5 player, then you'll need to pay an additional sub, at half the cost.

007 First Light (Switch 2)

Launch date
Summer 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Game-Key Card

Now here's a game we're surprised to see on Switch 2. Hitman developer IO Interactive is creating what it calls "the ultimate spycraft fantasy" in 007 First Light (originally known as Project 007), a wholly unique James Bond stealth-action game.

This Bond origin story will feature 007 as he starts life in MI6. Blending stealth gameplay with gadgets, car chases, and style galore, we'll have to wait until the summer — after the game's release on other consoles, with reviews saying it's a banger — to see how the game holds up.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction (Switch eShop)

Launch date
Summer 2026
Platform
Switch 1
Physical?
Via Limited Run at a later date, probably

Bitmap working on a He-Man side-scroller? We have the power! Or we will, on Switch, in 2026 at least. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction looks like a long-lost arcade game, with lovely pixel art and crunchy music to go with.

It's a side-scrolling beat 'em up, as you'd expect, and you'll be able to play as He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms (and maybe more?) as you battle through 12 stages. We won't be seeing this until the summer, but that doesn't mean we're not getting our old He-Man toys out of the attic right now...

Orbitals (Switch 2)

Launch date
Summer 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
TBC

Amid a swathe of co-op games coming to Switch 2 in 2026, Orbitals stands out the most to us. It looks and feels like a classic anime from the '80s, and you get to explore and pilot your way through space with two charming characters. What's not to love?

You'll be searching space to try and save your crumbling space station from ruin. Outside of that and teaming up with a partner, we don't know what to expect, except what looks to be a delightful time.
