Thought this one was kind of a mixed bag frankly. They were certainly more ambitious with it than the original, but that didn't necessarily lead to better gameplay experiences. The 3D and autoscrolling levels could be a real nuisance, and there is one boss in particular which was just ridiculously hard to dodge with the game's slow controls. I feel the controls weren't tight enough to make the new level design really come together.
Guessing this would be the perfect moment to divulge the release date for MK8 DLC. Maybe throw in some new info on Captain toad. A European date for Shovel Knight would be great too. This will probably be a minor direct, but I'm excited nonetheless.
@Iggly I didn't know that, thanks. The fact that it has two very distinct forms makes it very reminiscent of the switch axe, though it clearly behaves differently. Are there any more new weapon types?
I'm not convinced. I think the average gamer wouldn't invest in two consoles to play international games. Especially if these titles haven't been translated (my Japanese ain't so great). It might be the strategy behind it, but I don't think the hardware sales would outweigh the software sales they would sacrifice by closing off these markets.
An axe that can turn into a sword and shield? Is this the switchaxe 2.0? I'm not even halfway decent at MH3U yet, so I'm not sure if I'm going to pick this one up just yet, but it sure looks promising.
Not a very scientifically sound experiment, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I'm interested to see whether all my online competitors will be hopping around now.
I'm not really buying the battle mode explanation. It feels tacked on. I adore the track design for the racing modes and I am really loving just about everything about this game, but the way they handled battle mode does feel like they're cutting corners.
Cave Story for sure! Considering my schedule, I don't think I'll have enough time to play any new titles until Kirby rears his pink little head and then it's off to the land of Mario Kart 8! Child of light seems like a great game, but I'm looking for some fast paced stuff at the moment.
I would love to play this one. I wanted to play it when the release was announced over a year ago, and I still want to play it. The delay may have been ridiculous, but I'm still stoked!
What a coincidence, I was really wondering when this gem would be "unearthed" as they so aptly phrased it. I really hope this game lives up to my expectiations, because so far it looks very kickdonkey. Please watch the profanity — TBD
A lot of these really don't appeal to me that much to be honest. I'm much more looking forward to the upcoming Wii U titles. Mario Kart 8 in particular. Kirby seems like it will be a charming new title, but Yoshi's New Island seems thoroughly uninspired. Frankly, I'm most excited about the eShop titles. C'mooooooooon Shovel Knight!
Having never played this, it should be interesting for me to jump into this one. I loved ALBW, and this is one of those classics you just have to have played in your life. On the other hand, I still haven't finisted Super Metroid..
Never played a CoD game in my life, so the fact that they release one every year doesn't really matter to me. I only very occasionally have a shooter-itch to scratch, so I might just pick this game up. On the other hand, with a zelda an mario game coming up in the near future and a professor Layton title waiting to be delivered to my home, I don't think it'll be anytime soon.
Yeah.. not gonna do that. Such a feat would require a lot of tries I'm afraid.. And I don't like speedrunning anyway. I still think the game is awesome and I'm certainly going to be playing it again in the near future, but I'm not going to be the perfect digger.. well, perhaps I will get all four gold medals eventually, but with about six hours as my original time I highly doubt it.XD
I honestly get the feeling it will never make it to Europe, which is a shame because I'd really like to play it. Now Nicalis was never fast with their European releases, but this is getting ridiculous.
Dammit! Thanks fanboys for making another developer take a conservative approach. You can't please everyone Aonuma-san! Just do what you do best, make awesome games! Pandering to fanboys just has the risk of giving us those "just okay"-experiences like NSMB or Paper Mario Sticker Star. I loved the art direction for just about every 3D zelda title, the differences made them feel unique, and that's something I for one applaud.
Music is a major part of the expererience. I've caught myself wanting to replay many a game based on hearing a catchy tune from it alone. If the music is dull, uninspired or downright unoriginal (NSMB series), it's very detrimental to the overall experience, for me at least.
I don't think a physical release would be suitable. I agree with the others, please just release it digitally already! I know a lot of people see it as milking the franchise, but I would seriously enjoy getting that eShop version!
It'll launch close to Wonderful 101 in Europe, so it depends on the quality of that game whether I will pick up Rayman Legends right away. I sort of understand their concern, but that move alone made matters so much worse for Wii U from my perspective. The fact that one of its more promising exclusives was pushed away and made a non-exclusive really made me feel like the console had troubles for the first time since I bought it.
@ULTRA-64 I agree with Big_L91. Origins is a great platformer, rather similar to Legends, but obviously lacking the razorsharp visuals.. because.. well.. Wii. The soundtrack is wonderful too! One of my favorite video game OSTs.
Hm.. as much as I like Mutand Mudds, there's a lot of stuff coming out for me the following months and I'm not sure if 20 new levels are worth repurchasing it. Also, the layer-mechanic worked beautifully with the 3DS, so I'm a little worried if the lack of 3D will be confusing.
I'm a big fan of my 3DS, lovely little console. I'm taking a little break from it at the moment to finish up the titles I still had lying around for Wii U, but I'm certainly going for the "too many games"-promotion. Now all I need to do is get my girlfriend one as well, so I can finally experience some local multiplayer fun!
I didn't even like Colors, and that's apparently one of the best Sonic games in recent memory.. so it's safe to say I'm likely to skip this game. I hope for Sega's sake that this one's at least not going to be a Sonic '06 type of mess.
I'm still gonna go for Rayman I'm afraid.. unfortunate timing on the release date I'm afraid. Doesn't mean I won't be getting TW101 eventually, but I'm simply too stoked for Rayman Legends. Ah well, with NSLU and Pikmin on the horizon there's plenty to keep me entertained.
My body is ready.. and stuff. Let's see of there'll be any sweet surprises. I'm guessing we'll mostly get a better look at stuff we've seen before. A Wonderful 101 release date would be nice too.
I was planning on buying some more credit for my Wii U to buy Runner 2, but it seems that won't be necessary now. Also, never played super metroid.. might as well pick it up now. I've heard some great things about it, so for this price.. I'd be a fool to skip it.
Well.. if it's pure fun with no filler then this might just be a good thing. I finished nano assault in a day as well, but I expect to come back to that game a fair number of times too, so this might not be a problem. However, I'm not sure if this game has that arcade-like infinite playability to it. When does it even come out by the way?
Wasn't too sure if I liked the top down perspective, I was expecting the new 3DS Zelda to be more.. well.. 3D. But after a nice long look at the trailer on my 3DS I'm convinced this was a very good idea. It looks like a more back-to-basics approach, but it seems to work surprisingly well with the 3D effect.
I highly doubt they'll announce another Zelda remake with WW HD coming up for the Wii U. I'd love to hear about some new titles though. At the same time, I don't expect a lot of announcements for new games out of this one. Still looking forward to it though.
Can't believe they put that turd of a game called Tank!Tank!Tank! in there.. I still have Luigi's Mansion to finish up, but after that, my 3DS is thirstin' for some more eShop titles.
I was never upset with the people actually involved in making the game, and I'm still very much excited for it, but yeah.. I still feel a little bit betrayed by Ubisoft. Still though, I can't say no to such a massive load of extra content. I really hope this game will be as good as the demo made it out to be.
Noice! I do hope we get a demo too, because I'm still not quite certain if my eyes can handle this game. It looks like tons of fun, but I found some gameplay video's quite hard to follow. It was just a blur to me.

Re: Platinum Games’ Producer Thanks Wii U Owners Who Bought Bayonetta 2 on Release
I was very happy to do so! Had an absolute blast with Bayo 2. Saving Bayo 1 for when the Smash craze dies down.

I would love love LOVE for that to happen. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Not as hyped as I was way back when the US first got its greedy hands on this game, but I'm still very eager to pick it up!
