Reminds me of the old cancelled game Sonic X-Treme too. Looks pretty cool.

Those 6 aren't friends at all! D: I can see some similarities to Sonic 3D Blast too, nice.

It looks very interesting. Obviously, they didn't show that much (it all seemed based on an intro level), but it looks pretty good. I have high hopes for it. However, those monsters seem kind of off. They don't seem like they belong in the series....and even the logo is off. It's like a comic book style or something. Let's see what other playable characters emerge!

Certainly looks interesting. Not sure how I feel about the villains, though.

Sonic? I... I may be impressed. And this is coming from the classiest Rhythm Thief himself. Plus, this game reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy and--yep, I'll say--Pac-Man Adventures in Time. Classic.

That actually looks pretty good, although these days you can make even the lamest games look good in a trailer for. I'll definitely keep an eye on this one though.

@TwistedRabbit Yes, that's exactly what they're going for. I remember a lot of people clamouring for a Sonic game to be just like that. And I'm going to deck each and every one of them for helping to make this a reality. This game looks incredibly difficult to menuever, those stages look difficult to navigate, and the constant change in viewpoint looks like it'll be guaranteed to make me seasick. I hate this game already, and it's only the first trailer. For once, I am highly unlikely to buy a Sonic game. Damnit, Sega! Damnit Nintendo! Together you've ruined the one Non-RPG series I still held dear!

I love the departure from a serious setting, as well! This is nice and refreshing, Sonic has always tried to keep some sort of realism in the mix since Sonic Adventure, and it's always rubbed off oddly on me.

I'm also interested to see if Robotnik stays out of this! It'd be nice to have a break from him. And I mean, after Generations, it'd be no surprise...

This game does look similar to Super Mario Galaxy. It looks really COOL too! I can't wait for this. That gameplay does look different from the previous titles and it looks like a Mario and Sonic Integration, except with no Mario. The enemies are partially, uhh, weird, though that bull-like dude is kinda cool.

This looks beyound the Shadow of a doubt this could be another grand Adventure. Unleash the demo already Sega and Nintendo to further Advance your greatness. I understand not to Rush games but still... give me Lost World already! This year is going to be so X-treme it's a Blast!

This looks like an absolute blast! Very colorful and awesome level design. I will definitely be buying this Sonic game! Cant wait to see more on it, oh and I cant believe it's actually coming out this year!

I can definitely see the similarities to Galaxy, but this game does look like a promising edition to Nintendo consoles. Hopefully it will draw more people to the Wii U.

@CrabGats Yeah, they dropped the pseudo-serious tone in Colors. It was a bit surprising, but welcome. Colors was a funny game. Eggman was witty (and, let's face it, the life of the party. He'd give GlaDos a run for her money), Sonic's personality was amusing, and Tails...uh, actually they need to try again with Tails. None of the Tails-related jokes were really that funny.

Wheres the chao garden?

Looks like SEGA is finally starting to understand what makes a good sonic game these days - super fast, combination of 2d and 3d sections, and of course some platforming!
looks great, can't wait to see more.
also hope though that they actually include other playable characters! thats been seriously lacking in recent sonic outings.

Anyway: As others have said, this definitely looks like Super Sonic Galaxy, which is a good thing in my book. That enemy design is quite atrocious though.

wow! never have I been excited to see a new sonic game... I might just buy this day 1.

I'm not a huge Sonic fan, so I don't have a strong opinion...but I like what I saw. It looks like they took Sonic the Hedgehog and morphed it to fit into the gameplay of Sonic Adventure (along with some other nice gameplay elements). Could be a good mix in the end.

if this game can keep the stages flowing like the sonic rush series, insta-buy.

Have you ever watched a trailer? They give different angles for perspective on the gameplay.

I think it looks pretty good. I agree that it is how Sonic always was, based on the Sonic Xtreme and 3D blast games. I wonder what will be different in the 3DS version, and what stuff you get for having both.

@CanisWolfred I doubt the game would actually be changing camera angles constantly at that rate, if anything I think those are just for some dramatic effect to make the trailer look even better, and it does. This game looks really fun.

Looks amazing I'm a huge sonic fan and now I cannot wait for this to come out. Looks like that that cancelled game sonic xtreme for the saturn. I'm glad sega is sticking with the basic sonic formula rather than adding a gimmick.

Oh give me a break. This looks to be another generic, sonic-only game. The trailer ran smoothly with great 3D animation, but I couldn't get over how 'empty' everything felt. And those enemies… facepalm I had a bad feeling about those silhouettes and this trailer only served to confirm my fears.
I can only hope that Tails and (heaven forbid) Knuckles even make an appearance in this game. I used to be crossing my fingers for the chance that they might become playable again, but it seems Sega is too busy making Sonic a one-size-fits-all.
You proved that different styles of gameplay with different characters could be fun, Sega. (STH2, STH3) Do it again.

I don't know whether to like this game or not. But it's a sonic game so I'll most likely get it. I hope they would go back to the dreamcast to gamecube era where people actually cared about the story, but it's unlikely that this game will have a very good story.

It's been a while since I was a sonic fan so I'm not sure why this is appealing to people. Not that it's a bad thing, but maybe I need to play some good sonic games or something :/

@3DSonicPizzaHd actually, yay we have, but Sonic X-treme never came out, so why would we compare it to basicly two screenshots? It's like they brought that idea back, and took elements of Mario Galaxy to make this new game.

Not for me, I haven't brought a sonic game since the very first, apart from mario and sonic Olympics games. I will always see sonic as the second rate alternative to mario and forever it's wannabe. Maybe that's be being old school about it, but that's just me.
Full respect to your opinion though.

Hm, I'm not sure how to feel about this. It looks visually appealing, and I'm pretty sure it'll be good. The thing is though, that sonic just hasn't been as original & fun since the older games, my favorite being Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and I feel like theyre trying to force just a lot of 'new' onto us without emphasizing what made the original games great. Such as the storylines, for example, I mean, these 6 new villians just seem stupid(based on first impressions). I miss games like SA2:B, also they need some great multiplayer. Nonetheless, I won't judge it entirely until I get the game, this is just my first impression.

This game looks great. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it when it's released for the Wii U.

i first fell in love with handhelds when i got my mitts on the old humongous, battery-eating Game Gear and played sonic. that lit screen: the colours were beautiful. it was love at first romp through.

my 3ds xl needs this baby.

Also reminds me of old Sonic 3D blast on sega cd. Looks super cool and I love the change in apects from side, to isometric, to 3D. Blazing speed, collecting rings and catching big air is what Sonic is at its best. I wonder what they will do with gamepad as this is an exclusive and hopefully they do something cool with it.

They better leave the viewpoint switching to the auto-segments (e.g. the whale scene in Sonic Adventure), otherwise the gameplay is going to get very annoying very fast. Why can't developers get it through their heads that 3D platformers almost always work best with a nearly constant over-the-shoulder viewpoint? It's the same reason I don't really like the Super Mario Galaxy games and why the Sonic Adventure games work so well.

So this game is built on a modified smgalaxy engine? Im assuming nintendo played some part in its development.

Am I the only one who thinks that the gameplay graphics look sort of mediocre? I mean, maybe it's just the quality of the video, but for a game being released on Wii U, it doesn't look very 'HD'. I might be wrong, but to me, the animation seemed a little lacking, and the graphics not super polished... but I'm probably wrong.

This is what I discovered:
If anyone knows about the testing stage in Sonic Xtreme with the wide, green field, then you'd know that this trailer is based on the idea of Sonic Xtreme and I'll tell you why:

1. They both have a large green field.

2. They both have the exact same blue birds.

Btw I was never really a Sonic fan, and I've learned about Sonic Xtreme today.

Nintendo and Sega, if you're reading this, please orchestrate the music from Sonic Xtreme and have it on Sonic: Lost World as the main theme! That song is epic, and it will give many fans goosebumps for sure!

This certainly looks different to previous Sonic games, with all the different camera angles. Some sections do look kind of similar to the Galaxy games, but this new Sonic also reminds me of NiGHTS. I just hope they get the flow of this game right, as my main problem with recent Sonic games is that its too easy to fall of edges or come to a stop by getting stuck on objects. Cautiously optimistic.

SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! (Lol, as always with the Blue Blur) I certainly like this new play style that SEGA is giving us, almost as much as the previous styles. GO SONIC!!!~

I have to say that this was the most impressive Sonic trailer I've seen in years.

OK, so it's Sonic + Super Mario Galaxy, but that's hardly a bad thing. On the other hand, talking Sonic = not a good sign in my opinion... I haven't been impressed with many Sonic games in quite awhile, but I'll reserve judgment for now.

Actually, since Nintendo themselves announced this game & it looks quite a lot like Super Mario Galaxy (which is a very good thing imo) that means that the next 3D Mario will be quite different from Galaxy. Nintendo wouldn't be collaborating with SEGA on a game which will release around the same time as Super Mario 3D U if it looked similar. Will have to wait until E3 to find out if its true though.

This looks like Sega and Nintendo sat down together to discuss an exclusive and Nintendo asked what they had. They showed the cancelled Sonic Xtreme and someone and Nintendo, probably Shigeru Miyamoto, took the concept and helped make it work. Sonic Xtreme was a great idea at the time but they just couldn't make it. Now, they have.

This reminds me of Mario Galaxy, A LOT. Hey, if we find out they sort of copy any game, Galaxy would be a good one to do it from. Looks good.
