@McDerbert Unworthy is a black and white platformer inspired by Dark Souls. It's on PC as well so you can find it on the Steam store to check out. It has the typical Metroidvania stuff (getting upgrades and going back to find secrets, etc.). There's also some light character upgrade stuff, several weapons and items. There's some lore and NPC stuff (typical of Soulslike games). The game was basically made by one person so it's pretty simple, but the boss fights alone are worth playing for. They are really well done, the levels themselves are OK, but not great. I bought it in the NA Eshop, I'm not sure if it's available everywhere? It took me about 10 hours to beat but I wasn't very thorough at all, and could have probably put in another 5 hours to find secrets and maybe more bosses?
This looked interesting but after reading Destructiod's review I was completely turned off of the game. This review makes it sound much better, but I think I'll hold off for now (I also tend to like games this reviewer doesn't and vice a versa). The price does seem too steep for this game.
@ThanosReXXX calling something "crap" and then asking for me to value your opinion is about as dumb as you can get. In your second comment you actually gave a reason for not liking this design, but in your original comment you just called it "crap" so I responded to your dumb comment in a deserving manner. OK? Alright, we're done.
@Dualmask You don't have to change your loadout mid quest if you don't want to. The challenge is still there in World. Just look at anyone doing "Time Attack" runs. With the deeper and more refined combat in MHW, this makes for a much more enjoyable experience.
@SwitchVogel I think you were way off in your review. You mention that MHGU, Warframe and Diablo are your most played games on the Switch but then criticize this game for it's emphasis on multiplayer. I've been playing this for the past couple days and it is so much fun. Getting a good group together and tearing through levels grabbing all the loot is such a blast and highly addictive. I'm curious how far you ended up getting? The endgame is really good. Making builds and working with your team is handled very well. For me, this game is a 8/10 easily. Some of the combat could be more interesting, but this is a solid game and it's sad to see it so low on Metacritic because of this review. I just hope more reviewers score this game and play it multiplayer. I mean, you wouldn't go through all of G rank solo and then criticize the game for being overly harsh, would you?
@Highlar People are referring to low resolution and frame rate. Having previously played this on PC I can't deal with the poor performance in this area. There's a lot more on the Switch that I'd rather play instead. That's what I'm referring to.
This came out awhile ago on PC. I bought it and returned after playing for an hour so. It was fine but there's better games in this style. I only played it solo though.
This game is a lot of fun if you're into these types of games. I picked it up on PC awhile back and really enjoyed it but only played for about 5 hours because I ended up playing Vagante a lot more (which is similar but deeper and has multiplayer). I had been meaning to get back to it though. I bought it on the Switch last night and I'm really glad I did. It's perfect for quick sessions and it's hard to put down. Highly recommended.
@Ignatius Rainworld is very different from Hollowknight. The difficulty doesn't come from understanding enemy attacks. It's a unique game. I completed all of Hollowknight but gave up on Rainworld after a few hours. It's a completely different kind of game.
I picked this up for free when they gave it away to PS+ members, and it was cool to check out but in the end it was very boring. Also, swimming in video games is my least favorite thing, so I'm a bit biased.
If anyone is looking for a grindy, fun, combat heavy game, I can't recommend this enough. The game itself is pretty easy, however figuring all the systems is pretty tough, but well worth the effort. I played a lot on the PS4 a couple years ago and jumping back in on the Switch is real blast.
@Old-Red I agree. I'm enjoying my time with this game on the Switch (playing DS in handheld mode is wonderful), but this is probably the worst version of the game.
I picked this up on PC but returned it after playing for 30 minutes. I'm a big fan of the Soulsbourne games and really enjoy most of the games inspired by Souls, but this one was just bad. The combat felt really off.
Yeah, I'm usually a sucker for anything "soulslike" and can even get through the bad ones but this is one of the few games I returned to Steam after playing for an hour or so. It's really bad.
I'm a sucker for any souls-like game so having another one on the Switch is always great for me. I'll definitely give this a shot. Looking at Steam review it looks like the game is fairly short at 10-15hrs to finish the story which seems good for a game like this.
Despite all the issues this game has I absolutely love it. The combat feels great and the RPG elements are top notch. This game holds up really well for multiple playthroughs too. And while certain builds are very OP, they're all really fun to play. I bought this last night for my 3rd time for the Switch and just played for a few hours loving every minute of it.
@SetupDisk this is the first I've heard of Salt and Sanctuary coming to the Switch?!! Wow, that's awesome. Even though I've 100%ed this on Steam and own it on PS4, I'll be getting this again on Switch. This game has a lot of issues, but it's a lot of fun too. I'm really looking forward to playing this on the go.
@brendon987 You will only be able to play some of it solo. Technically you can play it all solo, but most of the game is scaled for multiplayer. However, you will get more than your money's worth with the single player story.
@Tsurii I played hundreds of hours of both actually. They added new movesets and combos in World. Just take the GS for example. There is a vast difference between the 2 playstyles in MHG and MHW.
@Medic_alert Well, it kind of is. It's 3 year old port of a 3ds game made by the MH B team. Not to say it's a bad game though, but more doesn't make something better.
@Spectra World was a disappointment? Wow, I had the exact opposite experience. World was so good that it's going to be very hard to go back to the older entries and I'm debating even picking this version up. I played some MHG the other day in anticipation of this release and the overall combat felt much more simplistic and spammy, and of course the QOL improvements were greatly missed. All of the weapon combo changes in World made each weapon better and much more fun to play in my opinion, and I just felt limited playing MHG. Sure, there's all the weapon arts and styles to pick from, but those don't feel as satisfying as shoulder charging through a monster's roar to unleash your true charge with a great sword, or power charging your hammer with a big bang combo. I'm glad people in the West are getting an opportunity to play this addition in English but I'm still debating on picking it up.
I am very hyped for Dead Cells. I played about 50 hours of the first Early Access version on Steam but haven't played since and I'm looking forward to the changes and additions.
@Kimyonaakuma If you have the option to play games on another platform, Monster Hunter World would be a much better place to start with the series. There's a lot of content here, and in my opinion, it's overload. And as everyone has said, the quality of life improvements made in Monster Hunter World make the game so much more enjoyable and it's very hard to go back to the older games. If you don't have a PS4, Xbox, or PC and really want to check out the series and are willing to put in some time and be willing to research stuff online, then this game will be worth your investment.
Wow, that's pretty cool. I played quite a bit of this on PC but would probably grind through this again if I can remember what all the crap does in this game.
Yeah, I couldn't wait any longer to play this game on Switch. I picked this up day one digitally. It took all the patience I had not to get this on PC and I'm glad I waited. This is the perfect game for the Switch and one my favorite games I've played this year.

Nice list. I would add Salt and Sanctuary and Unworthy to this.

@ThanosReXXX Exactly. Just pointing out that I'm better at forming an opinion than you and that I don't agree with you.

@ThanosReXXX Looks good to me and I work as a professional designer/artist.

Re: Monster Hunter Generations Hits 3 Million Sales Across Switch And 3DS
@Rayquaza2510 I don't think MH demos suck at all. That's how I got into the series with the 4U demo. The MHW demo was also very well done.

Re: Warframe's Fortuna Expansion Arrives On Nintendo Switch Today For Free
I’m curious how this new expansion performs on the Switch. Plains of Eidolon was really bad and almost unplayable.
Re: Review: Dragon: Marked for Death - An Attractive Action Title That's All Burned Out When It Comes To Fresh Ideas
I picked this up despite the low score and love it. The combat is very fun and addictive. The multiplayer works great and solo is fun too.

This looks pretty good; however, so did Death's Gambit and that was a big letdown.
Re: Reminder: Brutal Roguelike Caveblazers Is Coming To Switch eShop On 10th January
I have this on PC and it’s a lot of fun. The bosses are very tough, maybe too tough. I’ll double buy if the price is right, or wait for a sale.
