Not so long ago Renegade Kid revealed Moon Chronicles, its début FPS title on the 3DS eShop and an episodic release with two "seasons" currently planned; Season One will be a will be a remake of DS title Moon that will begin in March / April.
The structure is likely to be an intriguing first for the 3DS eShop, with the downloads arriving in four episodes:
- Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 - 4 + 6 VR Missions: ~4 hours of gameplay).
- Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 - 8: ~2 hours of gameplay).
- Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 - 12: ~2 hours of gameplay).
- Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 - 16: ~2 hours of gameplay).
With the release creeping closer the company has now released the first trailer for the title, in this case focusing on the mystery at the core of the storyline. This is a project no doubt on the radar of the original's fans, while promised support for the Circle Pad Pro, in particular, bodes well.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.

The cheesy plot and music makes me think of Blood Dragon but not a joke. I'm game for that.
As i sed befor i wanted the orignal but culdnt find it so il be getting this lol
Stoked for this!
I wish it was a retail release. :/
"Another brown, dudebro brocore shooter?! No thanks!!"
^ What would be said if this was a Sony/Microsoft game
Screw the circle pad pro, but I assume the other option is a Kid Icraus Uprising-style stylus-aiming? I feel that worked great in Uprising, better than a right stick imo
Is there any chance for a retail version of Complete Edition in a future?
@JohnRedcorn I didn't see the COD logo anywhere near this game.
The sci fi setting is enough to differentiate it, not to mention the console is starved for these kinds of experiences. Hardly a "me too" effort in this case.
@OptometristLime It is a port of a failed mediocre DS game. It isn't going to become magically great. The other 3DS FPS is much more interesting.
Looks great! I'll be honest, this pay method as DLC has more value (and gameplay time) than those AAA FPS's (cough, CoD, BF4 cough... not including multiplayer of course) Hyped for this game, it's gonna be nice to have a FPS on 3DS.
I might get this, I usally don't play shooters, but this one attracts me for some reason...
@Volmun Well, it is still readily available, straight from the UK:

@unrandomsam It scored an 8.0 on average across several reviews (both online and in magazines), how is that bad? I played it and although it wasn't great, it was still good fun.
Just makes me want another first-person Metroid lol. I'll get this for 9 bucks though no doubt.
@OptometristLime
Ok fine, it's a Halo/Destiny/Killzone dudebro clone
@TheRealThanos He never puts enough time into anything for it to be possible to be any good. There is another one that deserves the coverage.
The competition is Vita : Borderlands 2 and the other 3DS : IronFall. (Look at the amount of coverage this has had compared to Ironfall but that is his business method go on about everything all the time and convince people they like it when it is garbage.)
Shovel Knight will be better than his equivalent thing as well. Lots of mediocrity is the goal.
This is as close to a poor mans Metroid Prime ive seen yet! Im game since Nintendo doesn't seem interested atm! Looks good to me and so far Ironfall looks great but im afraid it might not play as good as it looks. Looks kinda barren to me thus far!
@unrandomsam Okaaay... A bit harsh in my opinion, but fair enough. Guess you think the same about Dementium the Ward then?
Do agree about IronFall though, but honestly we've not seen any gameplay yet. The trailer looked great, but let's just wait and see if they can actually make a game that looks good AND plays well too.
I wish they actually showed him firing his weapon....but it's a trailer so
@unrandomsam that's fine, don't buy the game if it doesn't interest you.
But I don't see why you have to be such a jerk to the developer, and claim to know the fate of efforts past and future. All it takes is a small vocal group of fans to support such a modest venture, and I think it's clever to appease them with a broad range of offerings. With the price being acceptable, I'm bound to try a couple of them (Moon and Treasurenauts) and then offer an informed opinion.
Watch the profanity please — TBD
@Spoony_Tech That about sums it up, yeah. I thought the DS game was kind of neat. I'll definitely pick this up.
day one purchase, i bet this will look amazing in 3D
Does anyone know how many blocks this game will use up on the 3DS memory card? I have not much to spare.
@Gustoff sd cards seem to be going on sale left and right at different retailers. Check online for deals. I just got a class 10, 32gb sandisk for $25 from Best Buy.
@WaveBoy I still have some of your more umm....funny swapnotes saved for when you become President!
Looks cheesy and totally awesome!
needs more doom
@OptometristLime If was less vocal it would have never have bothered me to such a great extent. If the coverage was comparable to other stuff then that would be fine. (Or the competition mentioned at the same time.) - If you look at the released games lists here for 3DS then you might think (As I did) Mutant Mudds is actually good. (Same with Mighty Switch Force neither are even close to the best ones). I never resort to profanity. (I wish I had a good way to just get what information I want but it is scattered amongst loads of stuff I don't).
With it looking like it has pretty good graphics and it already being released with good ratings on the DS, I am looking forward to the release of the first episode of Moon Chronicles. The screenshots that could be viewed on your 3DS in 3D, that were posted by Jools Watsham, looked pretty awesome to me
@JohnRedcorn Is it your goal to spark controversy in almost all the comment sections because you always have something extremely negative to say...Find the positive side of things
@unrandomsam I actually think that this game will sell pretty well with there being no other FPS's on the 3DS and it looks pretty good
I was starting to wonder why the guy had a gun and a healthbar when the giant spider-alien-whatever appeared O.O;
Houston, we have a problem >O>;;;
@unrandomsam I appreciate what you're saying but throwing the developer under the bus just won't change the way Nintendo Life handles its coverage. The fact is Jools Watsham is a prolific developer for the 3DS; you can expect his games to appear, especially when they fill gaps in the 3DS line up. While your concerns about the quality of his offerings are valid, there is no reason to doubt his sincerity of purpose in bringing these games to Nintendo systems.
Whatever happened to Cult County?
Looking forward to playing this. Pricing is interesting but I think it's a good model, will find out soon I guess.
looks cool. might get it
Do want!
Looks very promising so far. Renegade Kid is an amazing developer. Can't wait!
DAY one as I said before
I can't believe some people didn't play this on DS!?!?!?!?!?!
@FishieFish so do I. Have the original still, but this would be nice in a box. Still looking forward to playing it again, better.
"This looks very N64ish"
Yeah, like a poor-mans Jett force Gemini! Jett force Gemini did look great back in the day though!
the original was awesome. but that was not much of a preview. and i hope they clean up the graphics. but i bet its going to be great anyway, i cant wait. and for $10 u cant beat it. day one for me for sure.
hmmm. A maybe for this I thinx.
This looks really cool. I'm super stoked for the episodic structure this game's gonna have.
@bofis Amen bro, Amen!! c-pad and stylus save the day!
It's good to see a developer finally doing something different with the space marine bro shooter genre... Moon has a browny, grey, greeny, yellow, red, black, bluey, white colour spectrum
@FishieFish why does everyone want a retail release? Haven't we all seen the future with app stores and the like across all platforms? The days of retail copies is coming to an end. Mark my words, as production of physical discs becomes a burden on companies, they will go up in cost, while digital copies go down ( or realistically stay the same)...
@unrandomsam hmm... What did those games COST to develop and produce? I highly doubt this game had a budget that ran into the millions.
@El_Scorpio again with the calls for retail release... So ii take it that you have no apps on your smartphone then? No retail release there...
@Platypus101 How much are they going to cost to the end user ? Will it be proportional to the amount spent by the developer (Which would be fair). I doubt it.
@unrandomsam you know it's never gonna be that way... if so, Watchdogs would cost 185$ a disc while VC titles would go for either .99¢ or possibly free! We can all dream can't we?
Lame trailer. Hopefully the game's better than it's presented here.
Might also be a good idea to give it a short demo maybe.
@LeasTwanteD yup. That trailer does nothing for me... And I liked the OG Moon on DS!
This looks like Dead Space meets Turok 2... I'm a little excited
This looks awesome!!!
Definite buy. Affordable, too.
