Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Comments On Switch 2's "Hefty" Price Hikes

Megame

Earlier generation games were created in months by small teams (<10), nowadays it takes years with huge teams. It’s not sustainable to keep the price as it always was. Game creators need a stable income, just like everyone to craft the best experience for you. Why should games be excluded from inflation. One accepts this for every other non-vital product, but apparently games need to be free preferably, which leads to other models where you pay even more. Accept the inflation, realize you have been saving money last decades.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

The width doesn’t bother me, the weight does. A bigger screen is welcome, but also longer battery time. Let’s see.
Last fiscal quarter should take 2 weeks to determine whether to extend the Switch life or go with the announcement quickly because sales plummeted.

Re: Plans To Announce The 'Switch 2' Have Not Changed, Says Nintendo's President

Megame

After holiday 2024 sales, there is only a very low long tail of Switch sales left. As Switch is the only main product (compared to Wii/DS and WiiU/3DS) they simply can’t wait for a holiday 2025 release, unless there are no launch games ready. So I expect a late January announcement and launch in April, starting new new fiscal year.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Fans Aren't Happy About Rockstar's "Lazy Port"

Megame

Rockstar is pretty late bringing RDR to the Switch. They could have done it 6 years ago, the hardware hasn’t changed and then Rockstar would have supported the Nintendo platform. But they didn’t. Probably because they feel the platform lacks the power they need for their games.
So to do this now, when 120M units are sold, there is zero risk involved. For sure you are going to make a profit on this. And that feels a bit like money-grab to me, certainly at full-price without any extra’s. It shows that this is a business decision, not a decision from the heart or even that you want to on all platforms.
Rockstar will claim that the card is more expensive than discs. But is certainly not a $10-$20 difference from a $30 price point.
Double Eleven did what Rockstar asked.
I can imagine the disappointment of a 13 year old game to be republished as premium.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games

Megame

Advance Wars 1+2RC will at least take a half year delay to get to the streets with respect to the war, so not before October. From there it will have to be refitted into the Nintendo release schedule.
I see some mentioning online of release date February 23rd 2023, but that is the day before the invasion started in 2022. I can’t believe this is a date communicated by Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

Megame

A lot of people look at this from a gamer pov, which is understandable. From Nintendo’s pov, I’m sure they admire and respect the art, craftsmanship, hard work of the fan games based on their IP. However allowing one of these fan projects to exists, motivates many lesser skilled fans to do whatever they want with the IP which makes it uncontrollable and unwanted. Some fan work will then be unsuitable for my and your children to lay their eyes on and forever change their perception on the previously safe IP. So best to avoid that and they take a firm stance to allow nothing to be in control and protect the IP from uncontrollable events. This has nothing to do with “greed and cowardice” but everything with protect and avoid.

Re: After 18 Months, Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Fans Are Almost Done Decompiling The Game

Megame

They are taking assets from the sold product and are decompiling from that product and after this, reconstructing source from decompiled resiult. Definitely breaching copyright regulations. If done from scratch and creating code from scratch, that would be a recommendable achievement. They have to recreate music, levels, models, particle effects, textures and sprites as well, otherwise it’s still redistributing copyrighted content. Why do people think they could claim it their own? Start creating your own game to get your 5 minutes of fame and grow up!

Re: Niantic Assembling Pokémon GO "Task Force" To Address Player Concerns

Instead of the ‘we hear you, but we don’t care’ attitude in reaction on your request not being put in the game, you can also ask to be part of a focus group. It is for a multimillion user game only possible to make changes if they are validated by a large portion of the players, hence the focus groups. Being part of focus groups allows you to get more insight in how the game is managed and what effort it takes to change, balance, test, etc to a multimillion audience. It might even take you further if you have the skills that are needed.
