As a big supporter of mobile games, I can say with certainty I don't want Nintendo moving into the market. The big issue is insane market saturation. For every Angry Birds or Infinity Blade that sell gangbusters there are many other quality games that rot in obscurity, like Caligo Chaser or BAROQUE. Even the big publishers putting out console level games for low prices can't topple the free to play juggernauts and casual physics puzzlers. Very few "hardcore" titles make waves on the platform. I just don't see Nintendo's games, which are cloned and ripped off constantly, making the splash some expect.
@PvtOttobot I think what was meant was "If you fail to get support from a publisher". It's awkwardly worded, but I think the writer meant "Failing to get a publisher, you should publish on the eShop."
Out of ~25 game projects I've backed I've gotten the full return on about 6 or 7 of them. A lot of them are understandable (like Star Citizen and DISTANCE), and my trust remains high for those titles, since they have been very good about constant updates and game play footage, as well as managing and growing their community. On the other hand I've had projects like Dysis, where we've gone almost a YEAR without any official word from the team aside from a few brief replies mentioning a family illness. Finally they're claiming they are ready for release on Steam. Or 'nstaCharge, where the dev crew needed to pay for tools and extra artists to bring their game to life part-time... and then promptly had their six-movie deal studio flop over and die leaving them with no income, leaving the game two years and counting behind schedule with no release in sight. Delays happen, it's a part of making games (and Kickstarter-wise, the bigger a project the more delays I expect). It's how the developers handle the delays that matters.
In all my projects, I've only ever had one arrive without delays, Jason Rohr's "Diamond Trust Of London", a retail release for the DS. This was since the game was completely done and ready to ship, but no company wanted to do a physical release for the dying system. We paid our money, he said they'd be out by a certain time, they arrived. And that was it. Still haven't opened mine, since no one else has any interest in playing it with me.
GAAAAAAH. This game was one of the main reasons I BOUGHT a 3DS! Capcom's reason for not translating? The text is saved as images, and it's too expensive to go and change them.
@LordGeovanni actually there's been many "completed" game projects from Kickstarter. Guns Of Icarus Online launched in 2012, and is coming to PS4 this year (with the developer expressing interest in Wii U as well).
@Barbiegurl777 Actually, I was not referring at all to the game, which I have not played and have no interest in playing. I was simply referring to the fact that the Miiverse community for LWH3D is filled to the brim with silly/mildly disturbing art, hence a "community for trolls".
I doubt this is the last we'll see of the top-hatted Professor. At the end of Layton Brothers, they hint that Hersel Layton could appear in the sequel, calling it "just like old times". Though I wouldn't put them on par story-wise with the Professor Layton games (I can't comment on the gameplay considering I immensely dislike the whole "arbitrary puzzles" nature of PL, but adore the charming style and stories), it could lead to another franchise with Layton Sr. acting as a side character.
@Zach According to the publisher and developer, the game has been cancelled on PC (they pulled it off Steam following release and offered refunds to those who already bought it), so I don't expect it to see console release.
River City Ransom? Uncharted Waters? Sweet! Pretty good releases on VC this week.
Can't pick up anything this week though, spending my cash on upgrading Deus Ex Human Revolution, as well as pre-ordering the collectors edition of Ys: Memories of Celceta
Well screw that. I used Swapnote to talk with a friend in Australia quite a bit. Will definitely be sending in some angry emails to Nintendo over this.
Done. I'll submit one for Secret Ties. That one's a TRULY "Lost World Of Power", considering the game was never released! It wouldn't surprise me if the Worlds Of Power writers made books for games that never released.
Hot damn, DanganRonpa is STILL on the charts? Considering the original game came out on the PSP three years ago, and this is just a "Greatest Hits" style re-release, that's mindboggling. Can't wait for the american release next year on Vita.
@SCAR392 I don't own a Wii U. This game would have sold me on one if it had kept the Tingle Tuner functionality. For me in my youth, the Tingle Tuner provided so many good memories with my non-gamer younger sister and the Gamepad seemed like such a perfect fit for that kind of dynamic two-player experience. If they can't even release an "update" that at the very least keeps all the features of the previous version then it's not worth my time or money.
And they got rid of the Tingle Tuner, which would be utterly fantastic with one player using a classic controller and the other using the gamepad for the TT. Instead we get a stupid message-in-a-bottle feature. Thanks for giving me one less reason to buy a Wii U, Nintendo.
@Ryno Yes. Especially in the case of linear, story driven games, an LP will most definately drive off sales. Because why bother paying for the game when I can just watch it like a movie?
I fully understand Best Buy's position on this. A customer who brings in something, anything, to be recycled, expects it to be destroyed and made into something new in a manner that would not jeprodize their personal information on, say, a laptop. While this is a bit different (since I highly doubt an R.O.B would have your visa number), no doubt it's company policy to protect consumers.
Uh, actually, the Wii version was rather fun. It had issues, yes, but it was a unique experience. The 3DS version was garbage, mind you. Currently they're trying to get a re-release of the Wii game onto Steam via Greenlight, with funds from that game possibly going to fund this sequel (which they REALLY have wanted to do for quite a while, heck, they've mentioned it as a possibility during the greenlight campaign).
Goddammit, this makes... the third time I'll be picking up this game? Grabbed the Augmented Edition for the 360, the PC version along with the first two Deus Ex titles for cheap, and later the Missing Link DLC. Square Enix, please stop. My wallet can't take it.
Man, if only I wasn't stuck with a 3DS for this game. Maybe they'll release an update to allow the 3DS version to go online without the Wii U? Probably wishful thinking.
Man, this really would be a great addition to Wii U. I already own it on PC, and while it certainly has a few issues (poor AI and lame voice acting), it's definitely exhilarating once it finds it's stride. Dive-bombing a cruiser lobbing rockets, switching out into Strike Mode (the 'mech' you see in the video) and strafing along it's broadside clearing off turrets, then finally flicking back into Pursuit Mode to make a rapid escape is unforgettable.
Just a reminder/confirmation that the update to Ice Climber adds multiplayer via download play, so you can play with friends with only one copy of the game. Hopefully this means we'll be seeing the addition of two-player for Balloon Fight, as well as the Game Boy VC titles (Like Fortified Zone and Radar Mission).
Oh my god. After Capcom confirmed that they weren't localizing E.X. Troopers I was concerned this one also wouldn't make it over. Unfortunately, depsite how excited I am for this game, I don't have the money for it so I'll probably save what I have for Bravely Default and Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney.
This is probably a bad place to put this, but Scientifically Proven Games is trying to get the much-better Wii version of this game available in an enhanced form on Steam via Greenlight. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92991377

It's like a dedicated Miiverse community for trolls.
Re: Rosalina And Luma Work Their Magic On The Super Smash Bros. Roster
This looks sweet. But bring back ROB dammit.
Re: PC Engine And MSX Games Coming To Japanese 3DS And Wii U Virtual Console Services
This gives me faint hope for the MSX version (not as good as the SCD port but oh well) release of SNATCHER to be on a VC.

Hey, as we all remember, the Wii U got the best version of Aliens: Colonial Marines (no release at all).
Re: SNES Inspired 'Super World Karts GP' Adds Wii U to Funding Goal
@CaviarMeths At the rate Nintendo's releasing Wii U VC titles, I'm sure this game will be out well before SMK is.
Re: Lobodestroyo Kickstarter Funded, Festival Of Magic Campaign Postponed Until New Year
Nyeh, I backed Lobo, but only for the cross-promotion between it and Super World Karts (Backers of both unlock a special character in SWK)
Re: Club Nintendo Rewards Are Updated for December
@rtr0GMR1 Nah, I'd rather all games be available to purchase. Even the Ambassador ones.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th December (Europe)
I really hope the Level-5 sale, Nano Assault Ex demo/discount and Lttp all make the jump.
Re: Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Gets Closer to Western Release With New Rating
@Luna-Harmony Considering it's Level-5 in charge of localization, I'd expect it to be a boxed title.

Ahhhh, crap. And I was giddy for about five seconds when I thought this was a sequel to End of Eternity (Resonance of Fate in North America).
Re: Capcom Confirms 37.3% Drop in Profits in Second Quarter of 2013
And this is what you get for not giving us E.X. Troopers overseas. Nothing like another solid 3DS title to bolster the quarter.

Throwing in another recommendation for Shadow Wars. It's a very good strategy title.
