Considering Tokyo Mirage Sessions is up there with Persona 5 I feel a port is a must. No joke. I have both and while P5 looks better by a smidge, both have fantastic storylines and gameplay. Also of course we simpky have to have Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Does the Switch version have any improvements? Higher res, better draw distances, textures etc? If not i see no point in paying full AAA price for a four year old game.
The first was a great film with my only criticism being a lack of cameo's. I felt the film should have had lots more video game references and the games that featured heavily in the story should have been real games rather than homages to them. So im looking forward to the possibility of more cameos like Mario appearing. Should be great!
I believe the ps4 version runs at 60fps. Other than that, the texture work, effects, physics and general solidness are all exemplary on the Switch. Its a really pretty game and runs at a smooth and constant 30fps on Switch. Plus, being able to play a collect a thon platformer like this is absolutely superior to only being able to play on tv.
So here is a full switch game, no port or remaster, that can still only perform as well as the wii u...Are people finally going to start listening to me when i say the Switch is just a portable wii u in terms of performance? I doubt it, I'll just sit here and wait for the inevitable "The switch is four times as powerful as Wii U!". Yeah, on paper But you show me a Switch game that looks four times as good as anything on Wii U. I'll wait...
@shani I wouldnt say no to a splatoon karting game, actually! But seriously, i guess we will wait and see. Looking forward to the game regardless of if its an evolution or revolution of the series.
@shani Hmmm, i just didnt feel any major differences. Yes, of course there were differences, just nothing that made me feel like i was playing a brand new entry. To be fair, i dont think we have seen anywhere near all of the new content this game will provide once it releases so i guess for now we will just have to wait and see.
@shani I say again that i lived every single minute of the test fire and definitely intend to purchase the game day one. But every single thing you have put there are things that could be added through dlc. This is as much a sequel to Splatoon one as Mario Kart 8 deluxe is to Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U.
Loved the test fire but it really is just more splatoon. Unless there is a major single player story campaign thisgame really will feel like splatoon 1 "deluxe edition" much like Mario Kart 8 for Switch.
"Erm, hi yes Nintendo? Yeah I juggled my Switch, used it as a friebee, dunked it like a basketball, threw it backwards into its dock, and finally a stamped on it. The stamping broke my Switch...Yes well you never told me stamping would break the console! YOUR CONSOLE IS SO WEAK! WHY THE HELL DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT JUGGLING FRISBEEING AND FINALLY STAMPING ON THE SWITCH WOUKD BREAK IT? I demand a refund!"
There are way too many fantastic games out there nowadays, so believe me dear developers when i say that if i find a game is charging more on one system than on any other, i simply wont support the game AT ALL. I wont be picking Rime up unless it either recieves a big price drop or i find it pre owned. Sonic Mania on the other hand will be picked up for whatever price it is on day one because the publishers know that "switch tax" is BS.
The comercial failure if the Wii U has been theorised to theends of the Earth, but i really feel a strong culprit to its failure was a lack of marketing. Now, with the Switch we have already seen massive improvements in marketing. Its always a good sign when my computer iliterate mum comes over and says "Oh, is that that Nintendo Switch thing?" when she looks under my tv. I remember, on this very site defending the Wii U a few months after its launch, stating that people werent giving it a chance, and that if they wait a year, when we have a new Mario, a new F Zero and some new ip's, that they will regret hating on the Wii U and realise the system is great. Well, we know that never came about. And while i dont feel confident enough right now to say that in a year the Switch will be a grwat system with great exclusives, i do feel like the outcome is already much more positive than the Wii U ever achieved. We will see i suppose...Right, back to Zelda!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The only "problem" is combating the youtubers who quickly run to the internet to get views and create hyperbole over a small and (unfortunately common) number of issues that appear during a console launch. They have issued this statement to reassure people the problems are not affecting significant numbers despite what some youtuber would have you believe. Seriously i remember when the ps4 pro launch and this one youtuber was saying people were "getting refunds in their thousands" because the system was "melting due to overheating". When in reality it was a few dozen cases of overheating and there was no melting going on at all! People love to cause drama where there isnt any and Nintendo, i believe, are attempting to combat this.
Firstly, these dock socks look awesome and i may purchase one! That being said i will be purchasing one for purely aesthetic reasons, not because my Switch screen is getting scrathed. It isnt, and this is after multiple docking and undocking. Sure, if you are going to ram in the switch into the dock like a 2 year old on steroids of course its going to scratch the screen. But thats like complaing to Microsoft or Sony that their pads are easily broken if you stamp on them a few times. Im afraid im no good at providing Links but if you are interested go on youtube and check out the "Switch durability test" to see just how strong the switch actually is. Dont believe the hyperbole folks. Some people always give Nintendo a hard time and seem to hold them to a higher standard than everyone else.
The only thing ive noticed is a split second pause when defeating some enimies in Zelda. Not bothered me at all though, it felt more like an eccentricity of the game rather than a bug. Plus i only noticed fps dips on The Great Plateu. Haven't seen any since leaving the first area.
@Highlar The point of contention is the fact they are saying buying just a switch is catagorically out of stock, yet if you buy the bundle? Sure! We can get that for you! Give us your money!
To my American friends, please do not support this company and shady methods like this to make money from you. Buy a standard midel once they come into stock, more than likely before the April 16th date.
Seriously though its a launch system. What do people expect. We have had faults and defects with every system under the sun. I remember when critics "reported" that the lid of the ps1 system wouldnt close, thus stopping you from loading up a game cd, and people were going mental taking the system back and demanding refunds. I actually encountered a dead pixel on my first day of owning the original 3ds. Yes it was a pain but i just ignored it. I know its not exactly fair but the first systems that get released at the launch of a new console are very much the beta systems, and we as consumers have to pay the price for any faults that render their ugly heads. Dont like that? Well heres a simple solution. Dont buy a system at launch. Wait it out and wait for the inevitable upgrade.
This game is an absolutely must for the launch of the nintendo switch. A great triple a feeling futuristic racer for a third of what a triple title actually costs. The only downside is that the game is brutally difficult. And its not because im rubbish at the game. I did a race, got all the boost orbs, didnt crash once, hit all the boost pads and i still only came third. Thats some broken AI right there. Over than that though its an absolute blast and the nearest we are going to get to having f zero on a Nintendo console again.
Let me just get this out if the way. Its the best game ibe ever played, supplanting Twilight Princess, which supplanted Ocarina of Time (yep, i love Zelda). But this IS a Wii U game, not a switch game. It looks incredible regardless of which version you play. The little touchs and details are LEAGUES ahead of anything you will see on any system, regardless of technical prowess. In short, it is my opinion that if you consider yourself a gamer then Breath of the Wild is a mandatory purchase.
@TheLobster On the contrary, i was LIED to three times. Spoke several times with game, was told my zelda LE was dispatched for delivery on Wednesday morning. On thursday, after recievimg no dispatch email, i called again and was told it had been dispatched at 11am that day. Later that day, after STILL no email i called again and was "reliably" informed that the game was dispatched at 16:38pm. Ive still not had a dispatch email sent out...
Ordered Zelda LE from GAME. Not even got a dispatch email yet...So i bought another copy if Zelda and will be seeking a refund and one hell of a gift riddled apology once GAME decides to send what i paid for on Tuesday. Yep. Im not happy at all.
The Switch however is a marvelous peice of kit. Its beautiful, and when you are playing Zelda in handheld mode you really appreciate how powerful the system is. Is it as powerful as Xbox and ps4? No. But can xbox and ps4 allow you to play thier games anywhere at all? No they cant and if sony really are making a switch like compet, you getter believe it also wont have the power of the xbox or ps4.
@BornInNorway81 @chardir Yes of course it is. Now. But how much was it when the ps4 was first released? And how old is the nintendo switch again? Exactly.
GAME, along with gamestop are the cancer of the gaming industry. I hope they go bust because they simply dont know how to run a business. Go super market or independent. GAME are just too untrustworthy.
I kniw its been said several times already, but no analogue triggers is simply stupid. Nintendo know that people want GC VC yet without analogue triggers a fair few games will be gimped at best and simply impossible at worst (eg, mario sunshines water spray mechanic). If this controller had analogue triggers im fairly certain i would praise it as the best controller ever made. But as usual Nintendo take one step forward and several leaps backwards.
Im normally alwayw the glass half empty guy on here but for once im going to remain positive. Remember that there is a day one update for the switch that none of the press has access to yet. Im quite sure that though there may still be one or two isolated incidents (which will no doubt get blown completely out of proportion by the press) the day one update will probably have something in it that fixes the issue.
This is truly fantastic news. Honestly feel like its a fairly strong launch line up now. Zelda, Fast, shovel knight bundle, binding of isaac, i am setsuna and maybe 1-2-switch (£30 at my store which is a resonabke price for what it is) at launch for me. Thats 3 great indies including an RPG, a long awaited adventure game that woukd have to be doing something very wrong to be less than a GOTY contender. And a party game to show off the functionality of the Switch. Yes, im happy with this line up now.
In summary, i really feel the switch, due to its much improved marketing campaign and general feeling in the air, will sell at least better than the Wii U. Perhaps even the 40 million sales Nintendo execs are hoping for could be achievable. Just dont expect games on the technical level of Mass Effect Andromeda, Final Fantasy XV and Callnof Duty to appear on the system. If you are happy with whats been announced for the system so far then im sure the switch will live up to your expectations. If you are wanting one system to play all third party games that are available on ps4 and xbox one, then this really wont be the system for you. There, job done. No need for any more arguments now right? Right??
Now for some positivity. Yes, the Switch will be to Wii U what the wii was to gamecube. A negligable increase in specs. However i AM excited for the switch. Being able to play full, top quality Wii U level looking games anyhere i want will be fantastic. Just imagine a portable Xenoblade chronicles X guys. That game is beautiful (one of the best worlds, monsters and mech design ive seen in a game) and it only ran at 720p. Now imagine a small upgrade, upping the res to 1080p and increasing the draw distance. This, i believe would be more than doable on the switch. Now imagine being able to take it out and play it anywhere. A game of that quality, portable! THAT folks is where the worth of the switch is.
Oh, so its only going to be around as powerful as the Wii U? What a huge surprise! If only id have stated this earlier so i can be smug, oh wait... Not going to complain or praise this news. But i am going to be smug.
Probably around £25-£30 in the UK. Thats pretty good. However as long as i can accessnthe e shop and make purchases online i wont be paying. With the exception of Splatoon there likely wont be many must have online games for the switch.
A sound idea, however going by Ninrendos track record some of these (looking at you Xenoblade 2) will undoubtedly be delayed. And then what? We are left with yet another anaemic system with month long gaps between things to play.
Looks fantastic. Very modern. Very sleek. I have my concerns how much punishment the joy con connecter things will last under repeated use, but this being Nintndo im sure it will withstand the heaviest of hands.
@johndevine Base.com. Games are £50 ( 1-2-switch is £32), pro controller is £55. If you want a store you can walk into you have Tesco: pretty much the same as Base but pro controller is £60 which is £5 cheaper than game. Or any other nearby supermarket for that matter, or you have Grainger games, again similar but 1-2-switch is£40. Pretty much EVERYWHERE ive seen is cheaper than game. Their prices are preposterous
On Launch day im now getting Zelda and I am Setsuna and (if it comes out at launch) Fast Rmx. Im getting a 128gb micro sd card because they seem to be best value per gig. Im assuming, like with the vita, you can switch (arf) micro sd cards. Nit a lot of oeople think about this and it is a big plus on micro sd cards over hdd's. And then finally i will get a pro controller. I think this is the best i can do at launch. Would like another good game or two but out of everything Zelda and I am Setsuna seem to be the only games offering something of substance. Yeah, i'm still annoyed that im getting a new console with games i could buy much cheaoer on other systems, but im hoping the switch library swells over March and April. We will see i supose, but i am very excited.
@WiltonRoots Again I agree but your missing the point. No developer other than Nintendo is going to make these amazing games for an uncovered system, unless it's popular. And if you were to ask the common consumer if they would rather have a Nintendo system with only Nintendo games, or a system that has exclusives, full third party and indy support and a Blu Ray drive to watch movies. Which do you think they will go for? Sure, me and you love Nintendo games, and plenty of hardcore gamers will even buy both a switch AND another console. But not everyone will wish to do that. And releasing yet another underpowered system will negate all the above functions. THAT matters.
@WiltonRoots I absolutely 100% agree. Specs make little difference to the enjoyment of a game. But that's not the point here, the point is making a system powerful, and popular enough to have developers wish to make games for it. And right now Nintendo are a distant third in priorities for which machine to develop games for as far as a lot of developers are concerned. A game can't be good or bad if a developer chooses not to make a game in the first place for technical limitation reasons.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Nintendo Switch Pre-Order and Launch Day Plans?
@Untempered-Link Why on Earth are you payimg GAME prices?! There are much cheaper and better stores out there!
Re: Poll: What Are Your Nintendo Switch Pre-Order and Launch Day Plans?
Re: Official Nintendo Switch Technical Specifications Have Been Shared
Re: Official Nintendo Switch Technical Specifications Have Been Shared
@WiltonRoots I absolutely 100% agree. Specs make little difference to the enjoyment of a game. But that's not the point here, the point is making a system powerful, and popular enough to have developers wish to make games for it. And right now Nintendo are a distant third in priorities for which machine to develop games for as far as a lot of developers are concerned. A game can't be good or bad if a developer chooses not to make a game in the first place for technical limitation reasons.
