@OzHuski You are absolutely right mate. Im just so conflicted over this. On the one side im thinking we are getting Zelda, which will likely end up as one of the best games ever made. We will have a new 3d Mario. Splation 2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which again, could very well be one of the best games ever made going by its pedigree. We are getting a new Shin Megami Tensei. A new No more heroes, which with the joy cons extra ooomph in the motion control department could be astoundingly good. We are getting both Sonic games this year and in typical Nintendo fashion im certain there are many more surprises on the way. But this is all stuff coming much further down the line, which by then will have cemented a lot of peoples opinion on the system, much like it did with the wii u. Lets not forget the wii u has Xenoblade chronicles X, Tokyo Mirrage sessions. Mario kart 8, mario 3d world, bayonetta 2, wonderful 101 and more. All of which are fantastic games (Xenoblade chronicles X I will argue is better than Final Fantasy XV, is this is coming from a huge FF Fan). And none of these games helped bolster the sales for Wii U.
Nintendo need to act NOW or its going to be history repeating itself. I simply dont want them to fail. I want the. To be as big as they were during the Snes years.
@arnoldlayne83 Exactly. While some may proclaim our opinions as useless moaning and whinging, and to a certain extent they are kinda right, the fact is we were promised by Nintendo that the reason for a lack of Wii U software this last two years was to make room for Switch development. And two years later we are getting a Wii U port of an admittedly much anticipated game, plus some throw away party and third party stuff....aaaaand thats it. Anyone who is not vocally concerned by this must have money growing on trees in their back garden.
@dodgethis Im slowly realising the futility of speaking to you. Hey, if you are happy with the Switch and its five launch games. More power to you my friend. Have a good day. Im not going to waste any more of my time on you.
@OzHuski Yeah I am being critical. And yeah, im hoping we find out more about these 80 games. I say again im very excited for the switch. But right now that is only because I will finally be able to play Breath of the wild. And I will be able to play it where ever I want. That is AMAZING. It really truly is. But im a big Nintendo fan and I know for a fact not many will be willing to spend hundreds on one game, and a small few after launch.
@dodgethis The system will only have 32gb of storage.FACT. There are so far only five games coming at launch. FACT. Out of those five games 3 can be bought on the wii u or another system. FACT. The system is not as powerful as its competition. FACT. The accessories are very expensive. FACT. The online service has had barely anything said about it despite the system releasing in 6 weeks. FACT.
Shall I go on? Please stop with the damage control mate, youbare embarrassing yourself. Sissy boy? Lol.
@dodgethis Calling people names isnt exactly mature either my friend. And if you dont like other peoples opinions, go live some where where there is no democracy.
People should be allowed to aire thier concerns for something they need to pay hundreds of pounds/dollars for. No one is "moping" as you say. We are just sick and tired of a company we love deeply doing irrational and stupid things and making very wrong decisions all the time.
I suppose you never say anything negative about anything you like? Do you ever comment on what your favourite sports team should do? Or who they should spend thier money on recruiting? Or perhaps you have never talked about a tv show? A comic? A book? How you think that particular episode or issue should have gone? If you really only say positive things about things you enjoy all the time then you are nothing but a sheep...my friend.
@dodgethis Im not going sugar coat anything. Why would I? Why would you ignore the glaring issues this system has before its even launch? Its called thinking like an adult... wet blanket? Get outa here!
I feel im being overly critical and negative on the Switch. Let me just say ive pre ordered mine. I mean, portable Breath of the Wild! The game is going to be legendary and I feel will be the first to compete with Ocarina of time in the hearts and minds of fans. And further games like Xenoblade 2. No more heroes 3. Undoubtedly Mario Kart 9 and of course Mario Odysey will make the system worth the price of admission for me. But I stress "for me". For a lot of people it will be yet another system that doesnt have all thier favourite games like Call of Duty, Battlefield. Overwatch. Assassins creed on it and they will pass on buying the system. And again we will have another Wii U on our hands where, once we have had MK, mario, xenoblade and splatoon, which were announced at launch, we wontbsee much else as because of the poor sales Nintendo will race to bring out the next console. And if they do the same AGAIN then Nintendo will be the next Sega.
@JaxonH I agree somewhat. Sure, the "common Joe" (do uninformed consumers even exist in this internet age?) Will buy the Switch and the first month of Switch's life im sure will seem very healthy. But fast forward another few month and most will be ditching the system because there is simply nothing to play. And if these common Joes exist I can guarantee the common consumer are not patient people. If we get more games other than the confirmed at launch. Then I will be over the moon to retract my doom mongering. But if this is truly all we are getting...nope. Dead on arrival.
People talking about the switch sellingbout on its pre orders need to take another look at the websites. Pre orders are still very much available. Plus, im sure the switch will sell out at launch as the Wii U did. But just like the Wii U. Six months down the line people will be noticing several units gathering dust on the shelves of retail stores. I hope im wrong but...
@OzHuski Zelda, a Wii U game can only run at 900p on the switch with a few frame dips below 30. Its woeful dude however which way you look at it. Saying it can run a 6 year old ps3 and 360 game isnt a very good argument for the power of the system either...
@wrathfulzeus I actually love the tech side of things. The joy cons look like they will be a delight to use. The price I feel is fair considering you are getting a portable and a home console and I feel with all the bells and whistles to controllers have will be great to develop for. But there is a but, and its a huge one. On top of the tech shown there should have been games shown that use it properly other than a disposable party game. The launch line up is an absolute joke. And the messaging for the system as usual has been muddy and anaemic to say the least.
@norwichred Agreed once again. Very good points made here. Nintendo life need to show this to Nintendo themselves and see what the "real" reactions to the system and its launch line up is.
@tinman Agreed 1000% mate. I was a Nintendo apologist for the Wii U and for its first year was adament that things would change. But you know the saying: fool me once...
@arnoldlayne83 Thats a big no. Look, I love Nintendo. I LOOOOOOVE them. But for every time they surprise and delight me with some new concept I know will be a game changer, they confuse and annoy me twice as much with insane or frankly dated decisions. I promise you this. Unless they switch it up a notch, pun intended, they will slowly waste away and become another Japanese super giant company relagated to developing third party software.
Im just sick to the back teeth of Nintendo doing this. They are like an Olympic 100m champion, whobcould dominate with a world record every time they compete. But then every time they compete they tie their shoelaces together!
@Blur87 It boggles my mind the people still compare a console launch that happened in 1997 to one happeninh twenty years later. This is 2017 dude, we are mid generation with the ps4 and xbox one. Both are getting amazing triple A games on an almost weekly basis. And you think its okay for Nintendo to release the switch with five games? Add to that you dont even need a switch to play Zelda, which is the ONLY game worth buying on launch day. 1-2-switch will be fun for 20 minutes then will never be touched again, aside from once or twice when you have friends over, but then even your friends will be bored of it. Skylanders imaginators is another game you can get for wii u. just dance 2017: wii u. Bomberman R is a game you can get pretty much anywhere else under a different bomberman title and...and...oh thats it... See what im getting at? Unless there are games coming on lainch day that for some insane reason Nintendo have declined to show us. The switch will be another Wii U and ps5 will have a mario game on it. I guaratee it dude.
@arnoldlayne83 Agreed. Nintendo's marketing has been awful for a long long time and it must be addressed. I mean just picture this weekend if it had gone like this: The president of Nintendo comes out on stage with a 3ds in hand. He talks for a coupke of minutes about how popular handheld gaming is, thanks to Nintendo. Then the stage darkens and on screen we see the switch for the first time. "Here is the succesor to the 3ds" they say. "Its the worlds most powerful handheld gaming system" and they could even have the tagline "Now you're playing with portable power" which would bring out the nostalgic smiles in all of us. They would then and only then talk about how this revolutionary portable gaming system can be docked to a TV and played in TV mode, and even in docked mode games are enhanced with higher resolutions.
Is that not so much better than it being advertised as a wohfully underpowered console in comparison to ps4 and xbox?
Im calling it now, and I will stress I hope I am very very very VERY wrong. But if whats been announced this weekend is all we will see if the Switch upon launch day. It will be DOA. One game, whether its a masterpiece or not, is not enough to carry sales for an entire console for nearly two month before anything else of significance is released.
As with everything else ive seen this weekend. My only hope, and a fools hope it is, is that Nintendo have purposefully left out some games so they can have a big E3. Imagine if, come E3 they hold a direct (preferably a press conference but this is Nintendo) and are like BOOM, heres a new Metroid, coming this Christmas. BOOM, heres a new F Zero. Coming September. BOOM. New IP. BOOM. Announced Wii U VC. BOOM. Announced Dreamcast VC. Etc etc.
Yep, if this feels at all like de ja vu, its probably because you said these exact things yourself when the Wii U first came out with less than stellar games. But as I say, my only hope is that Nintendo are holding things back for Switch, because being able to play one admittedly amazing game (Zelda) and one deluxe edition of a game most will already own in the launch window is not very good at all.
Please Nintendo. Pleeeease. Look what happened to Sega. Listen to your fans for once.
I just had a theory on this which, if true is both great news and rather crappy news, but it is a very "Nintendo" thing if they do this: I think we will be able to redownload ANY digital purchase from wii and wii u to the switch. So if we have bought digitally the likes of Mario kart 8, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 2 or Wonderful 101 we will be able to transfer them to the switch...at a price. I think it will be a feature of this paid online service. If this is true I would be very happy to pay for the online service because right now, the service is a joke. A nes or snes game RENTAL?! Wow...just wow.
What about physical purchases though? Yes I know im asking a lot seeing as how the switch uses cartridges. But if the switch is going to have some sort of system in place where purchases made digitally for wii u software will be able to be downloaded free of charge on the switch (or even heavily discounted) then we really need to know about it. I have games like Xenoblade chronicles X, Super mario 3d world and Tokyo mirrage sessions on physical that i really dont want to leave behind. That being said, if they are going to enable us to purchase wii u and wii software digitally to the switch, whether paid or carried over from previous purchase, is a very exciting notion. And it would ease any hard feelings many have over the shear lack of software available at launch for the Switch. Again though the burning question I have is why this hasnt been addressed yet and why we have to "stay tuned for more info". Switch pre orders are running out because the system is out in SIX WEEKS! We are we still in the dark over things like this? We really should be told one way or another whats going to be happening.
Considering i got banned from Miiverse for a very silly reason (wont bore with details unless asked) im not unhappy to see it go. I would rather switch be a fresh new start for Nintendo. And this time ensure that what ever we buy digitally is locked to our account, NOT our console.
Im surprised atball the hate the red and blue Joy con bundle is getting. Its perfectly Nintendo. Pre ordered mine with no regrets. Grey and black is way overused in todays console market.
Nintendo are crazy folks. Nintendo Boss: Lets bring Mario maker to 3ds! Nintendo dev: Great idea! Lets do it! NB: Okay what would be the logical thing to do to make Mario Maker unique on 3DS? ND: Well of course, make it 3d, Use street pass and spotpass to share levels and create a super simple wi fi service to send levels online via home or any other wi fi hot spot! NB: Hmmmm, no ND: ...Sir? NB: Okay lets go ahead with the streetpass but no 3d or online. Itw too mainstream and obvious to do that. ND: But sir- NB: Oh and make it so you only get to play as a goomba rather than Mario. ND: ...erm...
Okay that last part was made up but still you can imagine the think tank sessions to go like this with these people.
Hmmm its tricky. This weekend I have bought Dragon Quest vii and Deus Ex Mankind Devided. And while I love bith franchises dearly, Dragon quest has seen much more of my time. Despite the terrible graphics in comparrison to Deus ex and running a clearly retro game. I prefer the simpler cleaner ar style and general overwealming charm and happiness of DQ over the technically brilliant but much more moody and, dare I say it, depressing atmosphere of Deus ex. Anyway my point is that I prefer the cheaper game. Art style and gameplay will ALWAYS trump technical grunt and power any day of the week. So my two hopes are that either the NX is a handheld with TV functionality and a plethora of cheaper games (£30 like the 3ds ideally). Or like I have been banging on the NX needs to be a super powerful console with the ability to play not just the Nintendo games but all third party content too. But lets not forget this is Nintendo so it could just as likely be a console/gardening hybrid with a trowel for a controller. We will see. Either way Nintendo are in a very tricky position and they really have to get a wrighle on if they are definitely releasing the console in March. And in my opinion I think thats a big IF.
@MadAdam81 Agreed, but I do think six months is pretty much the bare minimum for time between reveal and release. Sure, I used to hate console reveals where it would be 2 years before we could buy the damn thing (looking at you Wii U). But at the same time if we hear literally nothing about NX, what it does, what games will be out for it etc, until February for example and Nintendo says "out in 3 weeks!" then that would be a business desision disaster. And I know the PS4 Pro has been announced 2 month before its release, but that is not a brand new console. Its just an upgrade (and not a very good one imo) over the existing ps4 with all the same functionality thr older model has. So in short, I really think we need to see the reveal of NX very very soon or it will cause alot of problems for Nintendo.
They have two weeks. Two weeks until then end od September and my personal curfew for Nintendo to reveal the NX. Any time after September can only mean one of two things to me: Either Nintendo have learned NOTHING from their recent mistakes and they think revealing a system that will be out in less than six months is goid business practice. Or the harder to swallow but unfortunately more realistic option, the system will be delayed. My money is on the latter.
I firmly disagree with the notion that Nintendo should not "compete" with Sony and Microsoft. Of course they blummin should! How can they not? Nitendo, unlike the others, are in a unique position where they could really dominate the market. Allow me to explain: Nintendo have, arguably, the best first and second party line up of games in the business. Mario 2D, Mario 3D, Mario Kart, Zelda, Metroid, F Zero, Star Fox, Pikmin, Professor Layton, Kirby, Smash bros, I could go o. The fact is that every generation has at the very least 2 or 3 games that are the best of their genre. Now imagine a super powerful console where you get not just Mario Galaxy 3, Zelda Breath of the Wild and a new F Zero at launch, but you also have Final Fantasy XV, COD, Battlefield 1, and all the latest third party software. Just think about that. Sony and Microsoft wouldnt stand a chance! But of course that will never happen because you have a delusional Nintendo that thinks they can repeat the freak succes of the wii and even more delusional fan base that damage control saying things like "oh well I only want nintendo games on a nintendo console". No one truly knows what the NX is going to be. But I GUARANTEE if the system is underpowered in the eyes of Joe public, it will be yet another 10 million selling console and Nintendo will quicky start going the way Sega did.
Absolutely no chance of a Wii U version then. This is yet more evidence as to why its simply stupid to put money on a kickstarter. I mean seriously I could be like "why dont you all give me some money, and I promise I will make Half Life 3 with Gabe Newalls approval in 2017. Oh and by the way if im not able to do any of that I wont be able to give you a refund sorry and all that (Ha ha ha suckers!)". Okay so im exaggerating slightly but there is so much like this happening on kickstarter projects its not even funny.
Whether they are out of practice or not, Nintendo simply MUST do a press conference reveal of the NX or I am 99% certain that they will be a public laughing stock. A console reveal cant be controlled by a direct or an online reveal. It needs a stage so that it can gather hype. Without the stage the reaction will be warm from Nintendo fans but a shear disgrace to everyone else.
Just tell us what the NX is already Nintendo! For petes sake if rumours are to be believed most of the world already knows anyway! No one, not even you seems to care about the 3ds any more. At least in terms of interesting ip. I mean Wii U ports...really? Urgh. Im guna go back to my ps4 and vita now until the reveal.
Ive said this many times and will continue to say it until Nintendo listens. If they release the NX and it is underpowered (below ps4/xbox one) it will be yet another failure. Third parties may be saying they are impressed with the system but to be frank thay said exactly that about the wii u and they dropped support for the system as soon as they realised people werent buying it. People want confidence that their games will look great and run well, and after even ps4 and xbox one not quite living up to what people want in terms of power Nintendo will have a really hard time convincing the masses to buy a system that cant even compete with them.
Ideally id like to think this is true for when the system is portable, but when connected to the tv, some technical wizardry powers up the system to be at LEAST as powerful as current gen systems. But as usual, we will see.
if this is true, and I know its a big if, Nintendo have just killed themselves. Facepalm faceplam facepalm facepalm FACEPALM FACEPAM FAAAAAACEEEEPAAAAAALM!!!!!!!!!! Damnit Nintendo you #!++/";+£"@:;!:£==£;£'£;£/£;!;!+!!!!! Why are you just s ok xbdisidbdhxydyvehdidhdhdhdjdjdj BLARRRRRRRRGH!!!
@Tsurii Geez, you have reached a whole new level of stupid to use the "whole new level of stupid" quote that the guy who has reached a whole new level of stupid used to describe someone reaching a whole new level of stupid due to not buying a game because of a stupid lack of 3d! Pft stupid!
@Ezzzy I suppose so. But failures? Super mario super show, The legend of zelda and the many iterations of Pokemon cartoons and several movies were staples of many millions of childrens lives. I wouldnt call them failures.
Erm, Pokemon, Kirby, Super mario bros, Inazuma Eleven, Monster hunter, The legend of Zelda. All have had or have animated video series made. So I dont see what miyamoto is getting at here when he says he wants nintendo to move towards video, they already have!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE There are very very few games that sell over 20 million units. I could be wrong but I think only Final fantasy vii, GTAiv and V have ever acheived that great a number. 12 million though? If NX proves to be a great system to not just me and you, the "hardcore" but to casual gamers and family's too? Yeah I think 12 mil could be achieved. To be honest, I don't care if the game sells 2 million or 200 million, as long as I am one of that number I will be a happy man!
Even if the game turns out to be a huge failure it will hit 2 million sales! And considering what we have seen, the pedigree of Zelda, and the fact it will be released on NX as one of its biggest and most popular first titles to come to the mystery system, I would say that goal is in the bag already.
@ThanosReXXX Heres hoping. I guess time will tell. One thing is for certain though, this HAS to impress the public or it really will use the unlikable term of "going the way Wii U did".

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Briefly Addresses Topic Of Carrying Over Online Purchases To Switch
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Briefly Addresses Topic Of Carrying Over Online Purchases To Switch
Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass
Considering i got banned from Miiverse for a very silly reason (wont bore with details unless asked) im not unhappy to see it go. I would rather switch be a fresh new start for Nintendo. And this time ensure that what ever we buy digitally is locked to our account, NOT our console.
Re: Gallery: Here's What The Nintendo Switch Looks Like From (Almost) Every Angle
Im surprised atball the hate the red and blue Joy con bundle is getting. Its perfectly Nintendo. Pre ordered mine with no regrets. Grey and black is way overused in todays console market.
Re: Super Mario Maker for 3DS Won't Have 3D Support
Nintendo are crazy folks.
Nintendo Boss: Lets bring Mario maker to 3ds!
Nintendo dev: Great idea! Lets do it!
NB: Okay what would be the logical thing to do to make Mario Maker unique on 3DS?
ND: Well of course, make it 3d, Use street pass and spotpass to share levels and create a super simple wi fi service to send levels online via home or any other wi fi hot spot!
NB: Hmmmm, no
ND: ...Sir?
NB: Okay lets go ahead with the streetpass but no 3d or online. Itw too mainstream and obvious to do that.
ND: But sir-
NB: Oh and make it so you only get to play as a goomba rather than Mario.
ND: ...erm...
Okay that last part was made up but still you can imagine the think tank sessions to go like this with these people.
Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse (3DS)
But whens it out in the uk ans are we gwtting physical?
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Now Battles for Our Time, Not Just Loyalty
Re: Apparent amiibo Release Date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Leaked Online
Re: Apparent amiibo Release Date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Leaked Online
Re: Video: Check Out the Launch Trailer for Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse
Any news on when us Eu residents get the game, and if it will be physical or a digital only release like smtiv was?
Re: Talking Point: Unique and Affordable - Nintendo's NX Needs to Avoid Direct Competition With PlayStation and Xbox
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Has Been Delayed To 2018
Absolutely no chance of a Wii U version then.
Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?
Whether they are out of practice or not, Nintendo simply MUST do a press conference reveal of the NX or I am 99% certain that they will be a public laughing stock. A console reveal cant be controlled by a direct or an online reveal. It needs a stage so that it can gather hype. Without the stage the reaction will be warm from Nintendo fans but a shear disgrace to everyone else.
Re: Poll: Did the 3DS Nintendo Direct Boost Your Hype for the Portable's Line-Up?
Just tell us what the NX is already Nintendo! For petes sake if rumours are to be believed most of the world already knows anyway! No one, not even you seems to care about the 3ds any more. At least in terms of interesting ip. I mean Wii U ports...really? Urgh. Im guna go back to my ps4 and vita now until the reveal.
Re: Nintendo Download: 4th August (Europe)
Dear Nintendo, I have not bought anything from your store in nearly six month...GET SOME GOOD GAMES IN YOUR STORE!
Re: Poll: The Nintendo NX - Where Do You Stand on the Future of Nintendo?
Oh and unless Nintendo do a surprise reveal of the system and its specs within the next month you can forget about this being released in march 2017.
Re: Poll: The Nintendo NX - Where Do You Stand on the Future of Nintendo?
Ive said this many times and will continue to say it until Nintendo listens. If they release the NX and it is underpowered (below ps4/xbox one) it will be yet another failure. Third parties may be saying they are impressed with the system but to be frank thay said exactly that about the wii u and they dropped support for the system as soon as they realised people werent buying it. People want confidence that their games will look great and run well, and after even ps4 and xbox one not quite living up to what people want in terms of power Nintendo will have a really hard time convincing the masses to buy a system that cant even compete with them.
Re: Multiple Sources Outline a Portable NX With Detachable Controllers, Including a 'Base Station' for TV
Ideally id like to think this is true for when the system is portable, but when connected to the tv, some technical wizardry powers up the system to be at LEAST as powerful as current gen systems. But as usual, we will see.
Re: Multiple Sources Outline a Portable NX With Detachable Controllers, Including a 'Base Station' for TV
if this is true, and I know its a big if, Nintendo have just killed themselves.
Re: Review: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD (3DS)
@Tsurii Geez, you have reached a whole new level of stupid to use the "whole new level of stupid" quote that the guy who has reached a whole new level of stupid used to describe someone reaching a whole new level of stupid due to not buying a game because of a stupid lack of 3d! Pft stupid!
Re: Patent Reinforces the Prospect of Nintendo NX Having a Portable Handset
Two analogue sticks/nubs/circle pads and analogue triggers or go home Nintendo!
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Declares Video to be 'Really Interesting', But Clarifies Stance on a Nintendo Movie
@Rei Pokemon isnt a property of Nintendo...?
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Declares Video to be 'Really Interesting', But Clarifies Stance on a Nintendo Movie
@Ezzzy I suppose so. But failures? Super mario super show, The legend of zelda and the many iterations of Pokemon cartoons and several movies were staples of many millions of childrens lives. I wouldnt call them failures.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Declares Video to be 'Really Interesting', But Clarifies Stance on a Nintendo Movie
Erm, Pokemon, Kirby, Super mario bros, Inazuma Eleven, Monster hunter, The legend of Zelda. All have had or have animated video series made. So I dont see what miyamoto is getting at here when he says he wants nintendo to move towards video, they already have!
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Needs To Sell 2 Million Copies To Make A Profit
@SLIGEACH_EIRE There are very very few games that sell over 20 million units. I could be wrong but I think only Final fantasy vii, GTAiv and V have ever acheived that great a number. 12 million though? If NX proves to be a great system to not just me and you, the "hardcore" but to casual gamers and family's too? Yeah I think 12 mil could be achieved.
To be honest, I don't care if the game sells 2 million or 200 million, as long as I am one of that number I will be a happy man!
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Needs To Sell 2 Million Copies To Make A Profit
Even if the game turns out to be a huge failure it will hit 2 million sales! And considering what we have seen, the pedigree of Zelda, and the fact it will be released on NX as one of its biggest and most popular first titles to come to the mystery system, I would say that goal is in the bag already.
Re: Nintendo NX Has A Core Idea Which Doesn't Just "Follow Advancements In Technology", Claims Miyamoto
@ThanosReXXX Heres hoping. I guess time will tell. One thing is for certain though, this HAS to impress the public or it really will use the unlikable term of "going the way Wii U did".
