Power might not mean so much on paper but if third party ports on NX look noticeably weaker we'll have a steady drumbeat of articles by the likes of Digital Foundry pointing out how it's the weakest of the bunch. Hardcore gamers who read that stuff love hating on Xbox whenever it's a few pixels less even if they can't tell the difference or will never see them side by side. It's stupid, yes, but perception seems to matter. Not that Nintendo chase the hardcore necessarily. I dunno, guess we'll find out soon enough whatever happens.

I would have loved an M2 remake of Super Metroid for 3DS, with 3D parallax scrolling. Ah well.

I wonder if the price of New 3DS will drop after they announce NX. I'm not ready to leave 3D gaming behind!

My problem with Nintendo isn't what they make, it's the irritating ways they treat their customers once they've got them.

If these rumours are accurate then it doesn't sound like it'll be worth upgrading while I've still got 3DS + Wii U backlogs to play through. PS4 next for me.

Don't take away my stereoscopic 3D, dammit!!

Hope this isn't the end of stereoscopic mobile gaming.

And there goes my most anticipated Wii U game. Sigh. Haven't heard anything on Android Assault Cactus for a while either. Glad they're both headed to PS4 etc.

My Nintendo is the worst. Went over to PSN and scooped up 2 games instead.

@InklingOrange Good times! I love picking up a system late in its cycle. I bought a PS3 in its 4th year and it's so much fun snapping up AAA titles for £2 upwards.

@BensonUii Thanks. Unfortunately my Wii U's HD has only 1GB left so I'd have a buy an external HD which negates any savings.

@roboshort I'm sure I'll find plenty of great gameplay on Sony... not to mention better value, more choice and VR.

If Nintendo bring out a new 3D handheld I'll want one but they need to sort themselves out in other areas.

My next machine will probably be from Sony so I can play stuff like Uncharted, God of War and all their indies. I'm ready for some eye-candy! NX could well be impressive but the maddening way they go about things (like the My Nintendo Account or whatever it's called + my region locked 3DS) has started to turn me off their whole ecosystem.

Plus, it's hard to look forward to a new Nintendo console with the same old games all over again (Kong, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda, etc), though it is promising that their young teams seem to be making waves now.

Paid $10 but my Aussie 3DS won't accept the codes. Maybe because it's in England now. I dunno. Nintendo still find a way to piss me off, even when I'm donating to charity. I think our relationship might be toxic at this point. I don't want to leave but I probably have to

Half the games from last year's Sony E3 show still haven't come out and they still seemed to "win" the PR battle. It might have been a lot of hot air but it helped win mindshare and sell more systems. Anything is apparently better than nothing...

@OorWullie Ok thanks for clearing that up for me. So they give the Wii U a tiny memory and then reward us for downloads only! It's like they find a small way to frustrate their customers every day, innit? Next stop PS4 for me.

@BensonUii I don't have any gold points - but I have enough Miitomo/Platinum points to get 20% off Captain Toad on the UK Nintendo site. They give free delivery and gold points into my account so it's not too shabby really.

@BensonUii Thanks for getting back. I can get it £27 from Nintendo if I redeem my points, and I'll get 20 gold points, and double that if I get a Selects game too (which should be the same price as elsewhere). But are you saying I can't use my points on a physical copy from Nintendo?

UPDATE: Just found this: "Points earned for purchasing software from Nintendo eShop... or from the official Nintendo website." So discounts do apply to physical copies too by the look of it.

Nintendo Account is way too complicated. Just give me a sale price or something. All this platinum and gold coin business... ugh. JUST STOP!

Q: Can I order physical copies from Nintendo? (I would try and look for an answer on Nintendo's site but it would probably be overly confusing... then disappointing)

I would love to buy my nieces a 3DS each for Christmas (and upgrade myself to New 3DS) but I just can't bring myself to in case the NX renders them pointless... and they won't announce that until March.

Sadly, I just don't trust Nintendo not to disappoint me at this point so I'll probably get a PS4 instead.

Maybe they figured NX would not compare favourably next to Sony's NEO and PSVR because it's underpowered... again.

I'll watch E3 and probably get excited about PS4 games (which will no doubt be coming some time in 2018/19) so I'll get a PS4 at Xmas. Then I won't want an NX until 2018 or so - but at least there will be a few more games by then. Maybe.

Even if Nintendo nail the hardware will Zelda NX etc be enough?

I'll be ready to replace my PS3 by Christmas (I have a Wii U already) but Nintendo would need some hugely tempting software to sway me from the likes of Uncharted 4, Rare Replay, Tomb Raider, Titanfall 2, Helldrivers, Hyper Light Drifter, Ratchet & Clank, Rocket League, Ori & The Blind Forest... not to mention PSVR.

I'm not sure what Nintendo could possibly present during E3 to be my next console choice... and I'm a fanboy.

I have a WiiU but still haven't replaced my PS3 with a PS4. Hopefully E3 will settle whether to go NX or Neo. Am rooting for Nintendo but NX will need decent third party support to get my money this Christmas.

Rive has absolutely been the #1 game I'm looking forward to on Wii U since the demo dropped. Sad news but glad they're still releasing it. Hope it's great and a real success for them.

I noticed today that my Wii U is covered in dust. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Hopefully we'll see other original IPs from Nintendo thanks to Splatoon, not just sequels.

The price looks plain greedy after the Rare, Nathan Drake and Halo collections.

NX probably needs to answer some major gaming prayers with its launch line-up - such as a new AAA Metroid - just to earn back some good will.

@wazlon Agreed. I'm actually really interested in QOL, especially the older I get, but I'd love it wrapped into my portable NX / 3DS. The gamification of health goals is already happening (I used an app to make quitting smoking more Achievements based) and Nintendo could excel at it.

I'm pretty confident Nintendo will have some great products and also shoot themselves in the foot.

@gatorboi352 Of course online MP is more popular than local - duh. It doesn't mean local is dead. There can, and should, be space for both. I'm just glad Nintendo still understands that.

All these noises about it not being a console have me a little worried - if only because people seem determined that it is. Expectations seem likely be dashed on some level at least - but hopefully it's for the best.

Nintendo ruled my 2015. This year I'll finally jump into PS4 or Xbox. In 2017 I'll hopefully want an NX (lineup permitting). Ah, the circle of life.

@JosieC84 It's not that we have foul taste in the UK (we have amazing developers and a rich development history here). But unless you are a dedicated gamer you wouldn't know Wii U even exists here - and their market is supposedly more casual. Shelf space is almost non-existent here and Nintendo doesn't seem to want to advertise at all. Maybe they'll try harder with NX.
