Re: Feature: Killer Apps We Really Want To See On Nintendo Switch

Luigi_Skywalker

@Phle I agree with you. Some people may want this. I don’t but I understand some folks do. The way the switch is set up and the hardware it is working with I doubt you will be multitasking apps though. So in order to be updated on your social media you would likely have to suspend your game and come back to it. I just throw my iPhone on the seat next to me or let my Apple Watch notify me of texts or social media which doesn’t require an extra hand.

I already have these apps on literally dozens of other devices. I don’t really need/want them on my switch. I can watch Netflix for 10 hours on my iPad why would I want to kill the battery on my switch. More options are always good and if someone else would like this I am happy for them, but it is on the bottom of my personal list of switch hopes.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From The Inevitable January 2018 Nintendo Direct

2017 will be a hard year for Nintendo to top. They came out swinging! New Mario and Zelda, plus Splatoon and Mario Kart. I would love to see some additional Mari Kart DLC for deluxe. They could redo all the previous tracks and I would buy every one. Metroid is the obvious pick for next holiday season and Smash would be a great addition. A regular Fire Emblem is supposed to be on its way too I believe.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Surprising Fanbase is a Major Strength, Which Bodes Well for Switch

There is a reason we love Nintendo so much. I had played games before on Atari, but I fell in love with the first Legend of Zelda on NES when I was 6 years old. So did the rest of my family. My Mom mapped the overwold on a paper grocery bag she unfolded to look like parchment, and all the dungeons on graph paper. My Dad and my Sister stayed up all night burning bushes and bombing walls looking for secrets to everybody. Over the years they have produced those magic moments over and over. I keep a PlayStation and Xbox for online play, but Nintendo has my heart.

Re: L.A. Noire On Switch Will Run At 1080p When Docked, 720p In Handheld Mode

Luigi_Skywalker

@Nincompoop That is awful for them. I followed the developement of the game as they were working on it as I have been a huge Rockstar fan for a long time. I never played the game though since it came out after I had traded my PS3 in on a PS4. I remember reading interviews with the team and they were super enthusiastic about the mo cap and the huge script they had created. Too bad, sounds like they got a raw deal afterwards.

Re: Review: R.B.I. Baseball 17 (Switch)

Luigi_Skywalker

That stinks. I used to play RBI baseball on my NES back in the 80s. I wish they would make a good arcade baseball and football game, there used to be tons. After the update I actually really like NBA playgrounds. And whatever happened to Madden on Nintendo?

Luigi_Skywalker

If the digital version is $40 I'll pick it up that way on switch. I bought a large SD card at launch. If not I'll get it on my Xbox. I missed this the first time around because it launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 right before the PS4 and Xbox 1 came out and i had already traded in my old system to pre order the new one. This is probably the only Rockstar game realeased after GTA III that I have never played.

Re: Weirdness: Splatoon 2 Actually Has Built-In Voice Chat For LAN Play

Luigi_Skywalker

@Exy Like I said in my reply to NinNin, I hadn't thought of this as a docked mode LAN party until they mentioned it. I was thinking of everyone sitting in the same room in portable mode. It makes sense to use chat if you don't want to rearrange your furniture. Although, we used to set up multiple tvs in the same room back in the day to play Halo or COD LAN parties.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

Luigi_Skywalker

The problem is scalpers and the precedent set by the nes classic mini. You can look on eBay right now and those are still selling for $200+. As long as the scalpers know they are going to get a 300% return on investment they are going to buy up all the inventory online using bots and in stores store managers and employees will buy all the stock before it touches the shelves. So unless you work retail or have a script that constantly refreshes landing pages you are screwed. The only way I could see discouraging the grey market would be if Nintendo reversed its position on the limited run of the NES mini which would destroy the resell value of that system as well as weakening the value of the snes mini.

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

Luigi_Skywalker

@3DS_excel yes, I hate scalpers, get a real job. Also, it seems retail employees buy all the inventory as soon as it comes in before it hits shelves. I work for a certain fruit based tech company and we are firmly against piracy of any kind so I don't touch any sort of emulation or pirates music. I will wait and hopefully get one later on. I got my Nes classic in march by stumbling on it on Gamestop.com.

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

Luigi_Skywalker

@hcfwesker I don't use emulators because it's piracy, but I can see where one would be tempted to after dealing with this scalper nonsense. There are still brand new NES classic minis unopened being sold on eBay. There were plenty to go around but somehow scalpers bought dozens while legit fans got none.
