I think one of two things are happening here: either they are having trouble negotiating licensing for the VC or they are wrestling with the pricing model. Also, Nintendo is flying high on the best console launch ever, why mess it up if this service goes sideways.
@Phle this is a little off topic but this will fix your Apple Watch issue: Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap on My Watch at the bottom left. Tap on General > Wake Screen. Turn Off the Auto Launch Audio Apps. Exit out of the Settings.
@Phle I agree with you. Some people may want this. I don’t but I understand some folks do. The way the switch is set up and the hardware it is working with I doubt you will be multitasking apps though. So in order to be updated on your social media you would likely have to suspend your game and come back to it. I just throw my iPhone on the seat next to me or let my Apple Watch notify me of texts or social media which doesn’t require an extra hand.
I already have these apps on literally dozens of other devices. I don’t really need/want them on my switch. I can watch Netflix for 10 hours on my iPad why would I want to kill the battery on my switch. More options are always good and if someone else would like this I am happy for them, but it is on the bottom of my personal list of switch hopes.
@NewAdvent it was released on PC as a full release and that runs great. The Xbox version is still in “early access “ ie beta. Even still, the game is very fun.
I would love to see PUBG on switch if they could get it running properly on the hardware. I also own an Xbox One X in addition to my switch and it sometimes chugs a little. Love the game though and am excited to see what they are working on for Nintendo.
2017 will be a hard year for Nintendo to top. They came out swinging! New Mario and Zelda, plus Splatoon and Mario Kart. I would love to see some additional Mari Kart DLC for deluxe. They could redo all the previous tracks and I would buy every one. Metroid is the obvious pick for next holiday season and Smash would be a great addition. A regular Fire Emblem is supposed to be on its way too I believe.
I haven’t found one yet. They keep selling out and are always on eBay or Facebook marketplace. I’m not super concerned though, I didn’t find a nes classic until March of last year. I don’t intend to pay scalpers, they are the worst.
I’ve played every Zelda ever made, many with multiple play throughs. Breath of the Wild is now my favorite. My only complaint is how fragile the weapons are. Otherwise the story and density and mechanics are amazing.
There is a reason we love Nintendo so much. I had played games before on Atari, but I fell in love with the first Legend of Zelda on NES when I was 6 years old. So did the rest of my family. My Mom mapped the overwold on a paper grocery bag she unfolded to look like parchment, and all the dungeons on graph paper. My Dad and my Sister stayed up all night burning bushes and bombing walls looking for secrets to everybody. Over the years they have produced those magic moments over and over. I keep a PlayStation and Xbox for online play, but Nintendo has my heart.
@GrailUK VC is virtual console, it was on Wii , Wii U and 3ds. A virtual store where you can buy digital copies of nes, Super nes nintendo 64 and other retreats console games (turbo grafix etc..)
@Nincompoop That is awful for them. I followed the developement of the game as they were working on it as I have been a huge Rockstar fan for a long time. I never played the game though since it came out after I had traded my PS3 in on a PS4. I remember reading interviews with the team and they were super enthusiastic about the mo cap and the huge script they had created. Too bad, sounds like they got a raw deal afterwards.
@Nincompoop at the time Team Bondi was one of Rockstars internal studios. Also, this was one of the most expensive games ever made due to the new mo-cap tech and extensive acting required.
That stinks. I used to play RBI baseball on my NES back in the 80s. I wish they would make a good arcade baseball and football game, there used to be tons. After the update I actually really like NBA playgrounds. And whatever happened to Madden on Nintendo?
Outstanding!!! I just watched the Punch Out Arcade episode of the Goldbergs last night. Super excited. Also, I used to play the Mario Bros arcade game all the time at the local roller rink as a kid.
Fantastic game, really one of my favorite Switch eshop games. The artwork looks gorgeous in portable mode. I didn't even know it was out on Xbox or PS4.
If the digital version is $40 I'll pick it up that way on switch. I bought a large SD card at launch. If not I'll get it on my Xbox. I missed this the first time around because it launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 right before the PS4 and Xbox 1 came out and i had already traded in my old system to pre order the new one. This is probably the only Rockstar game realeased after GTA III that I have never played.
It makes total sense for Rockstar to repackage LA Noire. I'm not sure if it still is, but at the time it came out it was the most expensive game ever made due to the new mo-cap tech they used coupled with the live actors.
@Exy Like I said in my reply to NinNin, I hadn't thought of this as a docked mode LAN party until they mentioned it. I was thinking of everyone sitting in the same room in portable mode. It makes sense to use chat if you don't want to rearrange your furniture. Although, we used to set up multiple tvs in the same room back in the day to play Halo or COD LAN parties.
@zyn I agree with you 100%. Everyone is entitled to play the way they like and I am all for more options, even if they are options I don't take advantage of. As NinNin pointed out, this would be useful in docked mode.
@zyn I understand that LAN doesn't mean you have to sit next to each other, but why wouldn't you want to? It seems rather anti social to be in the same house and not bother to walk into the room with the people you are playing with. And to voice chat them from another room is even more bizarre to me.
The problem is scalpers and the precedent set by the nes classic mini. You can look on eBay right now and those are still selling for $200+. As long as the scalpers know they are going to get a 300% return on investment they are going to buy up all the inventory online using bots and in stores store managers and employees will buy all the stock before it touches the shelves. So unless you work retail or have a script that constantly refreshes landing pages you are screwed. The only way I could see discouraging the grey market would be if Nintendo reversed its position on the limited run of the NES mini which would destroy the resell value of that system as well as weakening the value of the snes mini.
@3DS_excel yes, I hate scalpers, get a real job. Also, it seems retail employees buy all the inventory as soon as it comes in before it hits shelves. I work for a certain fruit based tech company and we are firmly against piracy of any kind so I don't touch any sort of emulation or pirates music. I will wait and hopefully get one later on. I got my Nes classic in march by stumbling on it on Gamestop.com.
@hcfwesker I don't use emulators because it's piracy, but I can see where one would be tempted to after dealing with this scalper nonsense. There are still brand new NES classic minis unopened being sold on eBay. There were plenty to go around but somehow scalpers bought dozens while legit fans got none.
That looks really cool! I totally would have bought it on GBA back in the day. That was a great system. I bought my first GBA in Singapore about 6 months before it came out in the states. I was blown away after a decade and a half of gameboy.
@BigYellow I would love to see more Mario Kart DLC. Even if they started to release all the retro courses from other Mario Karts that would be cool with me.
My food inventory was full I think. Not sure, I haven't played BOTW in a while as I have been distracted by mario kart then arms then splatoon. I really want to get back into it and play the master sword trials but I can't stop chasing that next level in splatoon.
@AlphaJaguar I hope not since the iOS versions were locked into portrait mode so as to be played with one hand on a touchscreen. I hope they make it widescreen and take advantage of the physical controls.... and put it on switch. Fingers crossed 🤞
I have all these on my iPhone. I would buy them again on the switch VC but I sold my 3ds off for lack of use(not lack of a fantastic library, it has that for sure). I do love the franchise though, so the more the merrier. It has a great sense of humor, doesn't take itself as seriously as Final Fantasy.
@Pokefanmum82 I always wanted to but never got around to buying the first one on PS4. I like the idea of being able to play this on the go so I think I'll just wait to scoop the new one up as well as the new Dragon Quest XI next year.
