Re: June's European My Nintendo Rewards Include ARMS, Mario, Zelda And More

Lroy

Aren't these the same ARMS Wallpapers we already got? Perhaps the 'new' added characters are different but could'be sworn I've already redeemed coins for all these. They pulled the same lame trick last month with old SPLATOON 2 wallpapers.

My Nintendo continues to be one of the very worst aspects of modern era Nintendo. Just terribly run and delivered. Could be so, so, so much better. Just seems like something they put virtually no effort into.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

Lroy

@Pizzapasta Thanks a lot for that detailed response. Just finding my way with Arcade Sticks made for home. Having played arcades in the wild back in the heyday of the 80s and 90s but not much since. I'll will persevere with my HORI Switch Arcade stick and try and play quicker but lighter with inputs. Cheers.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

Lroy

@LordVal Ah, so I am not the only one. I am using the HORI Arcade Stick for Switch as well and having a torrid time trying to get the moves to work. Thought it was just my inexperience with my new Arcade Stick. Any tips on how to remedy this - what setting should the stick have on (D-PAD or L Stick?)

Mine has the Switch set to D-PAD and I've never changed it. Only had the Stick about a week or so.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

@OorWullie Yeah, there is definitely a notable issue with the audio mix. The music in all games is set too low compared to the menu selections sounds. Needs tweaking with a patch as I can't see an option in-game to raise the music/SFX/menu individually.

Also, man, this game has been laggy and choppy online across all four online enabled games. Not unplayable but definitely having problems with demand. Hope Capcom can sort this out promptly. If the online isn't smooth as butter it will kill the longevity of this game for many.

Offline, I am loving the later entries such as 3rd Strike and Alpha 3. Had very little experience with these previously and they are brilliant.

Finally, I suck at it. Played all the early iterations of STREET FIGHTER II in the arcade back in the day and home ports on SNES/MEGA DRIVE but man, I am really struggling to perform special moves on-demand. I've tried using both my Arcade Stick and my Switch Pro Controller both feel like I'm wrestling with the game to get the moves to register consistently. Most likely I am out of practice and my technique has waned but I have heard others expressing similar experiences e.g. They can perform the same moves far more successfully in ULTRA on Switch but not on this collection? Curious.

Re: Gorogoa Is Getting An Update, Adding In An Extra Puzzle From The Original Demo

Lroy

@PanurgeJr I can only speak from my own subjective and admittedly limited experience but I have found the total reverse to be true. But if as you say, demos don't lead to sales, that's a shame. Seems very counter intuitive to me but there you are. No Demo, no buy has been my motto for many eShop and full retail games, first party, third-party, Indie whatever.

Re: Johnny Turbo Heads For The Kitchen With Super Burger Time

@ClassSonicSatAm What makes you think that the Hamster Arcade Archives and Neo Geo releases are lacking in effort? I know the UI and wraparound presentation (e.g. menus, lack of boarder art) of the Hamster arcade releases could do with some sprucing up but the games themselves are emulated to a terrific standard and they all have high-score and Caravan leaderboards.

I'm all for more arcade releases and have bought many of these games from Namco, Hamster, ZeroDiv and now this Johnny Turbo line and hope the increasing number from different publishers can sort of raise the bar for all of them but I certainly wouldn't knock Hamster. They may lack the presentation sizzle of Namco's NAMCO MUSEUM but otherwise they are pretty much the leader of the pack with these arcade titles. The lack of online leaderboards for both ZeroDiv and Johnny Arcade releases is a more significant deficient in my opinion.

Re: Johnny Turbo Heads For The Kitchen With Super Burger Time

Lroy

The original BURGER TIME is one of those quintessential 80s arcade games that I can't help but think of along with PAC-MAN, DONKEY KONG, MOON PATROL etc. Possibly, still DATA EAST's most well-known game?

Never played this sequel but happy to give it a go but it'll have to wait. I'm trying my darnest to put a pause on game buying for at least a few months. Gorged myself non-stop pretty much since the Switch launched 😂

Re: Get Ready For Fantasy Tactical Role-Playing In The Banner Saga On 17th May

Lroy

Very, very interested to dip my toe into this series on Switch as well as the upcoming VC 1 and 4. Heard nothing but positive opinions on this IP and I'm keen to expand my turn-based strategy experiences having been totally smitten by the likes of FIRE EMBLEM AWAKENING and MARIO + RABBIDS: KINGDOM BATTLE in recent years.

Any idea of price?

Re: Rumour: The SNK Neo Geo Mini Is A Tiny Arcade Cabinet With 40 Built-In Games

Lroy

Perhaps I'm getting my sense of proportions wrong but this cabinet design sounds as though it is going to be far, far smaller than what I had originally expected. I'd got the impression it was going to be a Bar Top Arcade style machine with a dedicated small but not tiny 4:3 aspect ratio screen.

This seems as though it's minature design is more for show and its actual use is more aimed to being connected to a TV. Shame.

Re: Psyvariar Delta Confirmed For Western Release This Summer

Lroy

Keep putting retro arcade shoot-em-ups on Switch and I'll keep buying them.

Ditto any of the popular arcade genres from the 80s/90s. More single screen action/puzzle platformers and side scrolling beat-em-ups please. Oh and SEGA, please bring the arcade versions of SHINOBI and SHADOW DANCER to Switch ASAP!

Re: FIFA 18's Free World Cup Mode Arrives On May 29th

Lroy

I only picked up FIFA 18 back in February once it was discounted to £20 odd quid on Amazon UK, having fallen out of love with the franchise for a number of years.

Roll on a couple of months and It's rapidly becoming my most played game on the Switch and honestly, aside from some of the well documented omissions (playing with friends online), I think FIFA 18 is one of my favourite games on the system bar none.

I used to love playing the World Cup games, I'm elated with this news of free DLC. Hell, at this rate I might even pre-order FIFA 19 at full price. A turnaround I'm actually astounded at considering just how little interest I'd had in football for nearly a decade.

Re: Review: Wild Guns Reloaded (Switch)

Lroy

Will snap it up once the price goes to £20 or lower. Ideally £15 like I did with NAMCO MUSEUM (also over priced at £30) when it got 50% discounted back in late 2017.

Re: Review: Ghost Pilots (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Lroy

Oh my watchlist and a definite purchase for the future when time and funds permit - along with about 50 other eShop games. I just can't keep up with all the retro awesomeness on this hybrid wonder device. And there's more to come with SEGA Ages in the pipe, great times are these.

Re: HAMSTER Reveals Next Batch Of Sports Heavy Neo Geo Releases

Lroy

Sweet! Love me some SUPER SIDEKICKS 2. I'll also grab NINJA COMBAT as I'll happily try any arcade side-scrolling beat-em-up. BASEBALL STARS PROFESSIONALS is tempting but I think the sequel is often regarded as the superior one and I don't feel, personally, I would play more than one Baseball title - being a Brit an' all 😉

Ditto, golf. I have NEO TURF MASTERS. I don't need any other arcade golf game.

RIDING HERO didn't appeal to me based off gameplay and review videos I've seen in the past. It plays like a sort of clunky HANG-ON with this rather pedestrian RPG-career element. I'll pass on that.

But super stoked for SUPER SIDEKICKS 2!

Re: Review: Sengoku 3 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Lroy

I'm finding this a tough game to master but thrilled to see the Switch beat-em-up library starting to bolster itself. With golden oldies like DOUBLE DRAGON and BAD DUDES VS. DRAGON NINJA on the eShop along with modern brawler par excellence, WULVERBLADE, this Neo-Geo masterpiece is a welcome addition. Proving the side-scrolling beat-em-up is alive and well on Switch.

Customary call for Konami and Capcom to jump on board and fingers crossed SEGA Ages line bring the good stuff to Switch 👍

Re: Review: Ninja Striker! (Switch eShop)

Lroy

The reference to the Master System has got my nostalgia nerves twitching. Doubt I'd have given this game a second glance otherwise. Hmm, maybe one for the wishlist. Will seek out a video review too.
