It’s terrible really that this game was up on the eshop a while back with a discount using screenshots that in no way represented the final product! Awful practice, Nintendo should be much stricter with this sort of thing. Policing this practice should be guaranteed under their seal of approval
NSMBU deluxe- I’m hooked on the 3 star collectathon. Although im only 20 hrs in compared to my 80 to play odyssey to completion, personally I prefer NSMBU for its power ups. Totally would love 3D world in the future
I’d much rather call of duty modern warfare for switch or black ops two again lol. The bigger publishers could make quick and easy sales, like imagine Konami dropped a twin snakes HD rerelease!
I agree, ultimately it’s not what I want, a racer from Nintendo that doesn’t have Mario in it; looking to you f-zero, wave race, 1080 snowboarding and excite bike. But saying that it looks bright, fun and if it reviews well I’ll definitely pick this one up
They should have had nes, SNES and n64 from the start and have been releasing 3 games for each system per month (ie 9 new games each month). We’d have 36 games across 3 classic Nintendo systems now and be waiting on the 9 January ones to drop. They missed a trick with this
I was thinking of stunt race fx the other day, I remember borrowing it from another kid in my karate club, really liked it at the time and wished it was on the SNES mini with starfox. Like most I would love SNES games too but whatever they do, the games need to come quicker than 2/3 games per month... it’s painfully slow
Really don’t know how this one will turn out, I’ve been playing video games for quite a while and mostly from watching videos I can generally gague if it’s going to be decent or not. I have no idea with this one, initially I thought it looked poor but the more I see of it I’m not so sure now, it could be a sleeper hit. Totally keeping an eye on this ...
What about games like gunsmoke, contra, metal gear, castlevanias, strider, rygar, pay the money for licences - Disney Capcom games, Star Wars, turtles arcade, Batman etc. Come on Nintendo if you’re adamant you’re only sticking to nes games make the good games happen. I appreciate there will be licensing issues with some games but Nintendo is a massive multinational company with the funds and contacts to make it happen.
@Heavyarms55 lol it’s much easier to love Nintendo nowadays in the UK. In the late 80s it was painful sometimes being a Nintendo fan, waiting and waiting forever for games to come out. Usually a year later than in the US. I remember reading gaming mags and waiting forever for castlevania and Mario 2. Then Mario bros 3 was out well over a year later! Imagine not getting Mario odyssey for over a year later than Europe lol.
@roboshort although there are definitely some glaring omissions on their list, I think the mistake here is that the list is limited to 15 titles. They should have set it at 25 or 30, there’s others too that I could name that although not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ could be on a list like this; toe jam and earl 3, mortal kombat, wind jammers 2 and that Rico FPS from rising star games looks pretty cool too. Seems strange that town and goose game are on here and they aren’t. But hey it’s not my list and it’s also got the comments section going 👍🏻
Wave race, excite bike, kid Icarus, ice climbers, 1080 and some other old ips given a fresh twist - Nintendo is sitting on a gaming goldmine. One can dream
2019 has all the makings of an epic year of switch gaming. I have a feeling prime 4 will be 2020 but hopefully we’ll get that HD trilogy by summer and an e3 game play reveal for prime 4. Hoping for an f-zero, 1080 Snowboarding, excitebike or wave race surprise
2017 has been an epic year for gaming, not just in terms of Nintendo but general gaming. There's been some great (more mainstream game) VR games, pc games, Xbox and PS4. The indie scene continues to thrive and some classics have been rejuvenated with success (crash, sonic etc). I think there's been many golden ages in gaming over the last 3 decades and think we are in one. I think the true 'golden age' is such a subjective term and will be a different time for each and every one of us.
@Baker1000 although I've had the game from launch and enjoy it. Just thought I'd read the review and comments; I was literally thinking the same thing as what's in your post - I get a bit bored of the same old maps over and over and although I love this game it just pusheses it out from being a 10/10 to a 9 in my opinion. I think they did it like that to focus the multiplayer player base so that there's always enough players on the map servers to populate games. But I might be wrong?!?
I think the problem is that pretty much everyone likes Mario but the rabbids are hated and by pairing them up there's a worry it could devalue Mario/Nintendo
I really hate the idea, however I'm sure Nintendo will have some sort of quality assurance in place to prevent this from being awful. So there is a chance (and I can't believe I'm saying this about a rabbids game) that it could be quite good
Also want some third party developers dipping their toes, FIFA and skyrim is a good start. Call of duty would be a nice surprise and something big from Ubisoft like a far cry, or other suprise announcement would be nice
Some stuff to look forward to long term - Metroid announcement would be ace, with a future wave race, kid Icarus, 1080 or f-zero in the works.
More gameplay and details for Mario odyssey and fire emblem warriors. Specifics about splatoon 2 single player and offline play for on the go (bots and some sort of high score mode)
A surprise before the end of the year hd port - deluxe donkey Kong pack or Luigi mansion double pack
And then an epic - it's out there as of now drop, for the virtual console and Zelda expansion
With some indi filler games slotted in here and there
I know there's a single player but does anyone know if there'll be any sort of bot mode? I never played the first one but really like the look of splatoon 2
@Lumine I was proper looking forward to arms and still am but the splatoon 2 trailer at the end looked really cool. Think I'm more excited for splatoon 2 now
I totally agree with this review, the game crashed on me lots of times on level 13, it just became a tedious nightmare. It's a shame because the idea is kinda cool but in reality it's just so mediocre at best. I deleted it and treated myself to spectre knight to try and forget it.
The idea of an amiibo is cool but at the moment I'd much prefer an update on the European physical release - confirmed date, price, box art, instruction book info would be much appreciated
@electrolite77 yeah I agree, I meant in context and comparison to the switch launch.
I loved the GameCube line up, rogue leader and wave race were so good. Also if I remember correctly smash bros released shortly after launch.
My most personal launch disappointment was the ps2. I think because I had a dreamcast at the time. And the ps2 launch games couldn't really compare in my eyes.
I think the switch has got a rough deal online with the perceived quality of launch games.
Personally I can't wait, I really hope it does well.
@Tsusasi it really does look good, I played the wii one but not to death like double dash or 64. I played so much 64 that years later it was one of my n64 carts that the plastic got sun bleached lol, that and goldeneye were almost permanently in my n64.
The battle mode was so good, going up the slopes and across the bridges.
I've been predominantly PS4 the last few years, my daughters at that age now where it's time. My dad used to play Nintendo with me when I was young. It's not really the same on a PS4. We've dabbled with some psn games but they miss the sweet spot.
Also I love the way the joy cons can be held sideways really reminds me of a nes controller - think it's just the size as there's a little bit more to them lol
As well as new IPs I really hope some other franchises make a come back during the switch life cycle; wave race, 1080, excite bike/truck, kid Icarus, metroid, ice climbers, f-zero (fast racings a nice substitute tho) all immediately come to mind
@Tsusasi initially I was Zelda and bomberman, fast racing rmx has now joined them and I'm looking at snipperclips now too lol.
I think 1-2-switch looks really good, HD rumble sounds great, I've got a young daughter whos going to be my main player 2 and I don't know if she'd get 1-2-switch yet. I'll more than likely pick it up at some point tho as it looks good fun.
Never had a WiiU so Mario kart is a total must too 😁
@Aslanmagic fast racing neo looks ace, I'm kinda intrigued by sniperclips but not sure, one I'll keep an eye on tho. Can't wait for the reviews to start to drop to get a general feel for games like that. Exciting times over the next few weeks lol
This looks awesome, definitely picking this one up. Including the original 8-bit graphics and music is a nice touch. Similar to the master chief collection on Xbox one, such a good way to do a remake
I was going to give this a pass and wait until Mario kart, but the more I see of it the harder it is to resist. The day one launch, split screen, had rumble support and reasonable price have me sold 😄
Nice article, I've got a 4yr old daughter and this is our first gaming console/experience together. Really excited for some arms, Mario kart and sonic mania two player. Some general messing about playing video games together, like I did with my dad and the original nes. Love that the joycons are small like the original nes controller - can't wait 😊
