Re: Bandai Namco Files Trademarks For Classic Famicom And NES Titles

LordFunkalot

What about games like gunsmoke, contra, metal gear, castlevanias, strider, rygar, pay the money for licences - Disney Capcom games, Star Wars, turtles arcade, Batman etc. Come on Nintendo if you’re adamant you’re only sticking to nes games make the good games happen. I appreciate there will be licensing issues with some games but Nintendo is a massive multinational company with the funds and contacts to make it happen.

Re: UK Charts: Yearly Physical Switch Game Sales Increased By 90.1% In 2018

LordFunkalot

@Heavyarms55 lol it’s much easier to love Nintendo nowadays in the UK. In the late 80s it was painful sometimes being a Nintendo fan, waiting and waiting forever for games to come out. Usually a year later than in the US. I remember reading gaming mags and waiting forever for castlevania and Mario 2. Then Mario bros 3 was out well over a year later! Imagine not getting Mario odyssey for over a year later than Europe lol.

Re: Feature: Our 15 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games of 2019

LordFunkalot

@roboshort although there are definitely some glaring omissions on their list, I think the mistake here is that the list is limited to 15 titles. They should have set it at 25 or 30, there’s others too that I could name that although not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ could be on a list like this; toe jam and earl 3, mortal kombat, wind jammers 2 and that Rico FPS from rising star games looks pretty cool too. Seems strange that town and goose game are on here and they aren’t. But hey it’s not my list and it’s also got the comments section going 👍🏻

Re: Editorial: Is This a Golden Era of Gaming? Absolutely

LordFunkalot

2017 has been an epic year for gaming, not just in terms of Nintendo but general gaming. There's been some great (more mainstream game) VR games, pc games, Xbox and PS4. The indie scene continues to thrive and some classics have been rejuvenated with success (crash, sonic etc). I think there's been many golden ages in gaming over the last 3 decades and think we are in one. I think the true 'golden age' is such a subjective term and will be a different time for each and every one of us.

Re: Review: Splatoon 2 (Switch)

LordFunkalot

@Baker1000 although I've had the game from launch and enjoy it. Just thought I'd read the review and comments; I was literally thinking the same thing as what's in your post - I get a bit bored of the same old maps over and over and although I love this game it just pusheses it out from being a 10/10 to a 9 in my opinion. I think they did it like that to focus the multiplayer player base so that there's always enough players on the map servers to populate games. But I might be wrong?!?

Re: Video: Learn About the Rabbids & Mario Crossover That Didn't Make it to Wii

LordFunkalot

I think the problem is that pretty much everyone likes Mario but the rabbids are hated and by pairing them up there's a worry it could devalue Mario/Nintendo

I really hate the idea, however I'm sure Nintendo will have some sort of quality assurance in place to prevent this from being awful. So there is a chance (and I can't believe I'm saying this about a rabbids game) that it could be quite good

Re: Talking Point: Five Key Areas Nintendo Must Get Right at E3 2017

LordFunkalot

Some stuff to look forward to long term - Metroid announcement would be ace, with a future wave race, kid Icarus, 1080 or f-zero in the works.

More gameplay and details for Mario odyssey and fire emblem warriors. Specifics about splatoon 2 single player and offline play for on the go (bots and some sort of high score mode)

A surprise before the end of the year hd port - deluxe donkey Kong pack or Luigi mansion double pack

And then an epic - it's out there as of now drop, for the virtual console and Zelda expansion

With some indi filler games slotted in here and there

Re: Review: Mr. Shifty (Switch eShop)

LordFunkalot

I totally agree with this review, the game crashed on me lots of times on level 13, it just became a tedious nightmare. It's a shame because the idea is kinda cool but in reality it's just so mediocre at best. I deleted it and treated myself to spectre knight to try and forget it.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

LordFunkalot

@electrolite77 yeah I agree, I meant in context and comparison to the switch launch.

I loved the GameCube line up, rogue leader and wave race were so good. Also if I remember correctly smash bros released shortly after launch.

My most personal launch disappointment was the ps2. I think because I had a dreamcast at the time. And the ps2 launch games couldn't really compare in my eyes.

I think the switch has got a rough deal online with the perceived quality of launch games.

Personally I can't wait, I really hope it does well.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

LordFunkalot

@Tsusasi it really does look good, I played the wii one but not to death like double dash or 64. I played so much 64 that years later it was one of my n64 carts that the plastic got sun bleached lol, that and goldeneye were almost permanently in my n64.

The battle mode was so good, going up the slopes and across the bridges.

I've been predominantly PS4 the last few years, my daughters at that age now where it's time. My dad used to play Nintendo with me when I was young. It's not really the same on a PS4. We've dabbled with some psn games but they miss the sweet spot.

Also I love the way the joy cons can be held sideways really reminds me of a nes controller - think it's just the size as there's a little bit more to them lol

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

LordFunkalot

@Tsusasi initially I was Zelda and bomberman, fast racing rmx has now joined them and I'm looking at snipperclips now too lol.

I think 1-2-switch looks really good, HD rumble sounds great, I've got a young daughter whos going to be my main player 2 and I don't know if she'd get 1-2-switch yet. I'll more than likely pick it up at some point tho as it looks good fun.

Never had a WiiU so Mario kart is a total must too 😁

Re: Parent Trap: A Family Gamer's Perspective On The Nintendo Switch

LordFunkalot

Nice article, I've got a 4yr old daughter and this is our first gaming console/experience together. Really excited for some arms, Mario kart and sonic mania two player. Some general messing about playing video games together, like I did with my dad and the original nes. Love that the joycons are small like the original nes controller - can't wait 😊
