Re: Backlog Club: Return Of The Obra Dinn - It All Comes Down To Socks In The End

The only thing I couldn’t figure out without guessing wildly was where the folks on the lifeboat ended up. I felt like a real dope when I looked it up online and found out the answer was in the front of the journal the whole time! It’s funny because one of the things I most admired about this game was how it challenges the player to seek answers without making them comb through a bunch of text files like so many other games would. That one sneaky exception slipped right by me, though.

Re: BADLAND: Game Of The Year Edition Hits Wii U eShop On 30th July

I have to admit, one probably needs a bit of a masochist streak to fully enjoy this game. I played it on iPhone and was frankly astounded by the variety of distinct ways the game managed to kill off my poor clones.

At any rate, I have to disagree with the commenters saying this game is "boring". Just how many buzzsaws would they need to add to make it exciting?

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Explains Why Mewtwo Isn't Paid DLC in Smash Bros.

Linkuini

I have both versions, but I hope Mewtwo somehow becomes available to people who don't, since I do not look forward hearing them throw a fit about it. I'm okay with people expressing disappointment that they might not get to play as Mewtwo. The thing that gets me cheesed off is when people act like they're entitled to an outcome that conforms to assumptions they've made based entirely on wishful thinking. Such people will never be satisfied and should not be encouraged.

Re: Review: Mega Man X3 (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

Linkuini

I couldn't agree more with this review. Back when I first played this, I actually thought I had picked some kind of bootleg version by mistake. The basics were there, but no Mega Man game I'd ever played had levels this boring, empty and repetitive! No offense to those of you who enjoy it, but you see something here that I certainly do not.

Re: Guide: All You Need to Know on Mario Kart 8 Characters and Kart Customisations

I never was sure just what the traction stat meant. I had hoped it might make driving easier in tracks with lots of ice or sand, but I guess it's good enough if it lets you brush past some rough terrain without as much consequence.

I wouldn't dismiss light karts too hastily, though. Heavy karts can hold a lead pretty well with a skilled driver at the wheel, but getting there is hardly a sure thing on a treacherous road covered in banana peels with shells bouncing every which way. I imagine that light karts could compensate for their lower top speed by taking risky shortcuts that most heavy drivers are better off avoiding. You never know until you do some experimenting.

Re: Here Are Plenty of Lovely Hyrule Warriors Screenshots at Which to Gawk

@Monsti
Just wanted to say I agree with all your comments here. Fans get so defensive when this stuff is called out that I myself usually don't have the patience to bring it up.

Guys, even if you don't see any moral problem with character designs that put women's bodies on display, don't you think they're kind of... tedious? When this kind of thing is so prevalent in other games, I think it's reasonable for people to complain when it shows up in a game series where they expect to be (mostly) undisturbed by it.

And who really thinks Shia will be a villain with enough memorable traits to make up for that absurd outfit? I, for one, predict that she will mainly stand around winking at the hero and rambling about darkness.

There's no need to condemn a game in its entirety for a few problematic issues like these, but that doesn't mean that such issues should be exempt from criticism.

Re: Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales Potential, Ruining Battle Mode And Racism

Linkuini

Wow, it took me a lot of scrolling to get down here.

While I don't know how significant it is in the grand scheme of things, I kind of agree that this Mario Kart game isn't very diverse. I mean never mind about having different races, several characters aren't even different people! Three Marios, three Peaches...

In all seriousness, while I don't really take the criticism seriously, I hope it doesn't attract an overwhelming quantity of bile and hatred, regardless of who's right or wrong. The fact that we're on the internet ain't no excuse.

Re: Review: Parking Star 3D (3DS eShop)

There's an Ouya game about parking that's actually kind of fun. It's called "No Brakes Valet". It's a bit like shuffleboard, except with a bunch of cars crashing into each other.
