@Smitherenez I hear you. The 3DS version of Sonic Generations made me feel empty inside. So did the DS version of Sonic Colors. I'm probably gonna ignore most of Sega's handheld ports from now on.
Programming for a new hardware is not as easy as programming for old hardware. Maybe they just want to make sure they get it right so the game can be more well-received than the rest of the stuff being ported Wii U.
Sure, why not? With Resident Evil and Dead Space looking more and more like over-the-top action games, they could corner the market on stuff that's actually scary.
At least they didn't release a big teaser this time. That was what ticked me off about their port of The World Ends With You. They dropped hints that only people who already played it were likely to get, just to market a game that would be more interesting to people who had not played it.
Here, though, it looks more like fans jumped to conclusions about a trademark for something that had not really been publicized yet, so I don't really feel like getting mad at Square just for making another iOS game.
I liked the demo, and Dreamrift's previous output also amps up the difficulty near the end, but I certainly wasn't nearly as impressed by how the bottom screen was used, sadly.
This malarkey again? Do iOS gamers actually take notice when these teasers come up? I get the impression they mostly draw attention from those with dedicated game platforms. It's like Square Enix is directly targeting its announcements at the people who will be least happy about them!
I played the arcade version and had a good time. I liked how it showed you a bill for damage to the city and raised your score in proportion to the cost.
Still, it was over so fast, even for an arcade game. Figures.
Now that I think about it, at that size and price point, this would be perfect for a lot of college dorms. It sure would be nice to have on hand to invite some friends over for the occasional Brawl, or co-op platforming session. College doesn't leave me too much time for that very often, but with my "real" Wii stuck at home, it is certainly a tempting option...
It's probably for the best that I don't live in Canada.
I figured the reason we have the blue and yellow toads instead of some other thing was so it could be an homage to the colors of the super famicom logo. I thought that was kinda neat, but apparently I'm the only one.
As for Peach, though, yes, she was playable in Super Mario Bros. 2, but that's a bit of a different game, isn't it? I just have trouble imagining her doing things like wall-kicking, dashing out of cannons, penguin sliding, etc., in a fancy dress, with a higher level of animation than would have been expected back in the 80s or 90s. You could give her the kind of outfit she has in the sports games, but then there's still the fact that she's noticeably taller than the Mario Bros. The difference in height between them and the toads is already arguably pushing it.
When every interview I read about the design of the NSMB games seems to focus on how small details can shape the experience so drastically, I honestly don't see how it is so heinous to see her sidelined again.
I guess the toads have been pretty entertaining on a few occasions in the past. Now maybe if they'd stop leaving their bazookas at home, they'd be a little more helpful.
@zoroarkrules25 I second that! I suspect Sega will have to bring a company other than BioWare on board, but dangit, that cliffhanger ending has gotta be dealt with.
@hydeks I think when they say "downloadable games" they're thinking more along the lines of "Sonic Jump" on the iPhone than "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" on... a game system. But hey, that's probably just me being cynical.
Gave it a rent, and it was pretty good. It sure didn't make me a fan of Tatsunoko, though. The bland, same-y looking characters, the cheesy lines, the... giant, walking advertisement for cigarette lighters. Ugh. There were a few standouts, but the license just doesn't hold much appeal for me on the whole. Shame about the game going out of print, but other than that, I don't see much of a reason to hold onto that contract deal.
He "cannot think of a better console", eh? He, um, has actually heard of the Wii U, right? It's probably safe to assume he has, but from the way he talks here, he sounds more like he's unaware that it exists than that he's trying to make the Xbox 360 sound superior to it. I think that's what makes this funnier than other marketing statements, for those who have been asking why we're even talking about it.
Mickeyjunk Mountain in Epic Mickey is a pretty unpleasant place when you think about it. Nothing lifts your spirits like an hour of seeing your own likeness in a state of decay, right, Mickey?
@Joshers744 Even when people started turning into pigs? To me, that's the opposite of the sort of things that are in this article: it starts out unsettling, then becomes abruptly hilarious.
There's something to be said for a game that's willing to let a novel premise shoulder the weight in the absence of big-budget production values. Still, it would be awfully nice if it didn't look like one of those ugly 3D games out of the late '90s.
A goat ate the zoo map I was holding before I even knew what was happening. They are not exaggerating the paper-eating talents of goats, believe you me.

There was a lot of talking about things happening, but I didn't see a lot of things happen. Ever heard of "Show, Don't Tell"?

So when you turn it on, does it display the Game Boy logo, the Wii logo, the Android logo, or the words "I should not exist" in a blood red font?

Re: SEGA Takes Legal Action Against Level-5 Over Nintendo DS Patent Dispute
Didn't Nintendo have a patent on controlling the in-game camera with the c buttons back in the N64 days? I found that pretty absurd, too...

I remember hearing that adjectives couldn't be applied to the Nintendo objects, but it looks like we'll be pretty well compensated for that.
