I see a lot of game developers being laid off from big companies like Disney and Popcap and forming their own indie studios lately. I wonder how that will factor into the industry in the near future.
@Kyloctopus He did. Every character had a stash of feathers. Watching them all line up and jump over one of my banana peels in a wave was always a farcical sight.
I personally look at Miiverse fairly often. There are definitely a lot of users who post complete nonsense (like anywhere on the internet), but it doesn't seem too hard to filter them out. When I find somebody entertaining, I follow them. Then I look at the list of comments they've given Yeahs to, and I find more people I can follow. Eventually, there's so much good stuff on my Activity Feed that I sometimes forget just how much chaff there is elsewhere.
Plus, it's pretty easy to get help on Miiverse when you're stuck in a game. Perhaps too easy, as some have remarked.
I'm a little surprised to see that they had such a broad interpretation of their game when it had so many touches that seemed specific to casual freemium games. There were the timers on getting new items, the premium currency... Sugar Plumps's relationship with the player even reminded me of the vague, one-sided social interactions common in Facebook games.
@Marioman64 Hahaha, good one! Now if you'll excuse me, I believe I hear my toast screaming.
I don't get the people who try to "troll" this series. That's like sticking your foot out to trip a guy who's dragging himself across the floor! It's strangely unambitious as internet hijinks go.
"Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage!?" was over too soon, but good while it lasted. "Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW!" seems to be a much more substantial game, but also a boring slog that outstays its welcome. Take your pick...
So it iterates on previous games without doing much to change things up? It'll fit right in with the sports games here in the states! Heck, I don't even know how soccer works, so for all I know the time travel part is totally normal!
He might as well have kept it up. With all the clones up now, the damage is already done.
Each game is the same: some endless, pointless, overly demanding exercise in frustration. All the reviews are the same: dramatic accounts of being psychologically enslaved by a painful, repetitive game so ridiculously addictive it defies human comprehension. Many have insisted that their ability to hook players in for hours in spite of their incredibly poor quality could only have been a gift from the devil himself.
Mr.Nguyen, you've created mobile gaming's next inexplicable phenomenon. I admire and pity you in equally generous measure.
Ordinarily I like to see Sonic take a different direction. A vocal portion of the internet may complain about every little change, but I suspect that many of them are the same people who insist that other popular franchises don't change enough.
That being said, there's something inherent in the TV show connection that makes me curb my enthusiasm. In my mind, a big change seems less ambitious when it seems to have "market-researched kids' show" written all over it.
Well, I don't know what to think. The gameplay footage looked pretty nice, but the characters, music, and overall tone made me very conscious of being outside this game's target demographic.
I'd like to see how much stronger Lucario gets after taking some damage. I never really noticed the effect in Brawl, or else I would have used him more.
When I tried the demo, the camera was constantly frozen, and green lines kept showing up all over the screen. If I jiggled the hinge, the camera would work just long enough for me to snap a photo, which, if my lighting was at the perfect angle, would be just good enough to satisfy the game. I thought I must have damaged the camera or something, but when I opened up the regular 3DS Camera application, the camera worked just fine. I guess something about the AR functionality just requires much better lighting by default and is more easily broken.
I don't know what's wrong with the camera in my 3DS, but it makes taking photos in this game next to impossible. Not getting the full game.
By checking the app store every week for the free featured apps, I've managed to get a hold of every Angry Birds game without paying a dime. Your move, Activision!
@Giygas_95 Well, gameplay-wise, playing as DK with Cranky on his back appears to be pretty much the same thing. Still, I agree some of the appeal is definitely lost. I wonder if Cranky will bonk DK with his cane if he stands still too long.
My my, I sure do get a lot of StreetPass tags here at my engineering college. It adds a fascinating strategic dimension to Monster Manor, I must say. La la la, such a shame so many of you are missing out on all of this fun I get to have.
Smart new additions on display here! And it doesn't even bother me that it looks so similar to Super Mario Galaxy since they had already tried out this kind of gameplay with the cancelled Sonic Xtreme.
I know I'll like the Wii U version, but I refuse to trust the 3DS version based solely on that trailer. The handheld versions of Sega's games have all played like an afterthought lately.
This game has a pretty ambitious concept, which always makes for a good trailer. The question is whether the gameplay in the end product can deliver on its promise.
There must be a lot of pressure when it comes to getting a playable demo ready in time for E3, especially if the development team hasn't had the time to work out all the kinks yet. It kinda scares me to think about it, considering I hope to become a game developer myself in the future. Brrr...
Forget Tom Nook, what about Isabelle? She's the secretary of every town, she decides what kinds of laws the mayor can instate, and the mayor has no means of replacing her! Suspicious...
He personally builds and upgrades your house for you. Without even asking about your credit, he gives you a loan for it with no interest or deadlines whatsoever. And then, if you ever get around to paying him for your house, he builds you a golden statue of yourself and charges you nothing for it. Oh, that scoundrel! Has he no shame?
As a platformer, it looks decent, but generic. As a Pac-Man game, it looks like a waste of time.
If you ask me, the only way Pac-Man is going to become relevant again is if he gets a new game or two that uses the gameplay of the original as a starting point and takes it in a compelling new direction, kind of like what BIT.TRIP: BEAT did for those old paddle games. One can dream...
Same-sex marriage for men, but not women? That's actually pretty rich. Imagine the conversation:
"So, what did we decide about same-sex marriage in this game?" "Well, it looks like we can't address it in a way that will satisfy everybody, so we're kind of stuck." "Huh. Say, I wonder if it's possible to address the subject in a way that satisfies nobody..."
They know that Yoshis can come in different colors, right...?
Aside from that, their prototype looks pretty good! They should fix up the controls, add some sort of hook to make the gameplay a little more focused, and... what's that? Oh, that's the game? They call this a game and they are going to sell it for money? Ewww...
Forgotten... memories? Doesn't that sound a little unremarkable? Kind of like that DS game from way back when with the subtitle "Memories of the Past". It's like, you know... duh?
Oh, what's that, a new developer? Oh yeah, sounds cool.
