Super Icon's Life of Pixel is a 2D action platformer which aims to celebrate the days when the pixel was king. Placing the player in the role of the titular green hero, you must travel through gaming history and aid Pixel's quest of self-discovery.
The title is already available on PC and Mac, and has a unique selling point — each level is rendered to look and sound as if it's being played on a classic system. A wide range of platforms are included, such as the Atari 2600, NES, Game Boy, SNES, Commodore 64, Mega Drive and Amiga.
That's not all, however. Life of Pixel includes playful nods to such classic titles as Mega Man, Castlevania, Zelda, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Metroid, Sonic, Turrican, Jet Set Willy, James Pond, Rick Dangerous and Prince of Persia, and boasts a delicious chip-tune soundtrack composed by Eric Shumaker, Gavin Harrison, Rob Lynch and Ashton Morris, amongst others.
The PC and Mac versions have received generally positive reviews, and this has no doubt led to Super Icon looking for other platforms to launch on. The good news is that Life of Pixel has now been confirmed for the Wii U eShop, as confirmed by the developer on Twitter:

This looks great, right up my street!! Count me in =)
Seems incredibly fun and well-designed to the point of nostalgia being triggered every once in a while on many ways.
Nostalgia rush. So many old computers and consoles.
The ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and BBC Micro stages are extremely close to the original, like no difference I can see. I think the Atari graphics aren't blocky enough though and NES and GameBoy parallax scrolling was possible but not very common/iconic. Anyway, this will bring us back to the simple platforming of the 80'ies and with all the specs info before each "world" this is a nice history lesson in video games.
Totally getting this!
This looks kinda cool actually
Looking good, as long as the port holds up well i'm in
I think the gameplay looks a bit too rudimentary and samey to be interesting. Fun idea, though!
Sounds like the same premise as Bit Boy!! on WiiWare. I sure hope this game turns out better than that one did.
If the controls are tight, this should be good.
I think this is quite good already bought it on Steam. (It is better than 8 bit boy anyway).
looks good seems like a download for me
The first picture almost looked like Ignignokt
Cool!
I'll keep an eye out.
This is a pretty clever premise for a game. I'm very interested.
Its Bit boy meets...that other upcoming kickstarter game (what was it called, Pips adventure?).
Not convinced yet.
