Got me excited for a moment, thinking this was a port of the PC/360/ps3 game of "The Walking Dead".
Instead, it's an FPS by activision that no doubt will be mediocre at best. I'm not buying it anyway. Shame they're trying to cash in on the popularity caused by the other "The Walking Dead" game.
SA1 and SA2 are terrible in comparision to any modern platformer, and frankly, they were barely good in late 1990s standards. I'll be giving any new game that plays like SA1/2 a miss.
Anyone who expects any changes other than moving the tingle tuner to the gamepad, and a "Super Guide" addition to give hints is going to be sorely disappointed.
Any additional dungeons they had would have been incorporated into Twilight princess somehow, and the idea that they'd come up with a second version of every dungeon for a master quest is simply not going to happen. They want the game out in Autumn (Fall) but they're not even at the point where they have a working trailer. 6-9 months will barely be enough to get the game up and running, forget adding anything significantly new.
That argument is stupid. They ALREADY have to compete with Nintendos legacy, because you can still buy everything on Wii U through the wii shop channel.
It seriously wouldn't kill them to at least move everything from th Wii Shop channel to the Wii U eShop.
Would you all prefer it if they said "It's not worth our time for relatively small amount of sales we would get on wii u compared to 360/ps3" ?
Because that's what they mean, but they're trying to say it a way that doesn't make it sound like they're going to cut all ties with nintendo in the future.
@Rjejr. The entire point of the sale is to offer another incentive to get a wii U... Putting the same offer on the Wii would make the entire thing pointless.
Don't bother. Team Meat are contractually banned from ever putting SMB on anything it isn't already on right now. They've said as much, but you'll have to dig through Edmunds formspring to find it.
I'll be hitting up both, demos (and then maybe the cave, if I like it), Mighty Switch force sure is tempting to double dip at that discount, and PIcross e 2 is a guarantee.
Fortunately, my last exam is that day, so I'll be sure to have a busy evening!
Oh please, do we have to do this whole dance again?
Yes, it is a stupid claim that EVERY single person who pirates a game would have bought it. However, claiming that NOBODY who pirates it would have bought it is just as stupid.
Yes, you can transfer all titles (It has to be all) that you bought on a wii to your wii u. You need an SD card to do it. You also HAVE to access the games through a second "Wii menu" on the Wii U, rather than on the main menu.
it's very convoluted.
I hope nintendo pulls their finger out, fixes it so Wii Virtual Console/Wiiware games can be booted from the main menu, AND support off TV play (at least for VC games, which don't need motion controls!).
Though Nintendo can bugger off if they think i'm paying a penny for any game I already downloaded on Wii for off tv play, but I wouldn't be surprised.
@Mattdane
It's still that you have to send your machine to Nintendo. You could easily do it from your own home and save yourself postage charges and a significant amount of time if they would just get up to date with the rest of the world.
Besides that, if your machine is stolen, how are you supposed to send it to nintendo?
Because. It's not been announced. A MISQUOTED (as already said in these very comments) interview is not an announcement of launch.
If there was any real proof that it was truly being released in english, then, that would be news. So far, there isn't. That's why it hasn't appeared massively on news sites..
This is a bit of an aside, but it's always so difficult to try and find out what control schemes each Wii U game supports.
Any chance that Nintenodlife could start including these in the game overview boxes or more clearly in reviews?
All it needs is a simple list like Supported Controllers: Wii U Pad, Wii U Classic Controller, Wii Remote
And anything else that could be supported, Wii Classic controller Pro , Motion plus (required?), balance board.
Sometimes it's obvious, but in games like this, it would really be nice to see at a glance what each game supports, rather than having to hope the reviewer mentions it somewhere.
@turtlelink I'm mad because they're playing it off as a piece of capcoms work, when it clearly is not, and that the game is only free due to some generous streak from capcom. Both things clearly being untrue.
P.s. Show me one time that capcom has made fans cancel fanmade games. There are plenty of good fanmade megaman games, and they never do.So saying that the game would have been cancelled if capcom wasn't claiming it as their own a downright lie.
The reason it's free is because it's a fanmade game. See: This trailer from 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=begnDoEd_l0 Yep, you read that right, if the fans want more megaman games, we have to make them ourselves.
@Linkuini I sure can stay made at them, when they're playing this off as something they've made themselves, when it's been in development by a fan for over two years.
@Chriis Not really. Pokedex 3d cost almost exactly the same. (Yen/100 = dollar price.) The same goes for Pushmo/Pullblox (600 yen, $6). I haven't checked any other titles, but if anyone wants to name some that don't convert like that, I've not heard of them.
It's much more likely to be $18 and £16.20, in which case I'll be waiting for a sale. The game is definitely not worth nearly 3 times Pullblox.
Hello there MR and/or Mrs analyst! I would like to proudly welcome you to 2006. Let me give you some advice: Buy nintendo stocks, by 2009 you'll make a killing.
I will be severely dissapointed in Nintendo if they serious want people to buy the same games on VC again. There is no way I'm paying again for virtual console games I already bought on wii, just to use the gamepad.once I transfer over.
A Reboot? But we just HAD a reboot of the entire gameplay system in Sonic colours/Generations (I guess we were halfway to a rebooting in unleashed). What else is there to reboot? The plot? Trying to add a serious story beyond "Sonic needs to stop eggman again!" went so terribly in the last "reboot" (Sonic 06) That I pray they aren't trying again.
@OnionOverlord Several of the RPG elements I liked ARE removed. Right of the top of my head.
No badges,(so no FP moves, and no Star power equivalents either), simplified attack timing system (you can still time attacks, but there don't seem to be advanced "Superb" commands like in the previous two games), no leveling, no partners (and so no partner upgrading either).
Paper Mario (N64) : A good solid rpg. Thousand year door: An even better rpg that improved on EVERYTHING the n64 game did, with one of the most diverse character populations and areas in any game (at the time).
Then it goes weird... Super Paper mario: Really? Mario of all characters needed a spin off into the platforming genre? Well it's a spin off, so I can live with it for one title... Paper mario 3ds: RPG elements? THERE BE NONE HERE BOYS. I hope you like toads
Sales numbers would disagree. Each F-Zero game sold a massive amount less than the previous one. Sure, no-one said that they were getting bored of it out loud, but money talks louder than words.
I don't know how people can still be confused. There IS NO RRP that is publically announced for the UK (or Europe) anymore, due to the whole "price fixing" allegations that nintendo doesn't want to have to deal with ever again.
Just like all of Nintendos products - The price is decided entirely by retailers. And, it is not just online retailers who are "undercutting" by pricing 3ds games at £30 at launch, it's retail stores too. If all the stores, who are in charge of deciding the price for the region, decide that the best price for brand new 3ds games is £30, then the closest thing to an RRP we have is £30. Nobody is undercutting anything, nintendo is instead vastly overpricing eShop download versions.
Don't hold out much hope for this to make it's way out of Japan anyone.
If you will all cast your mind back, you may remember the exact same thing happening with New Super Mario Bros 2 on the 3DS, and we all know how that turned out. =_=
@BooBuster. What? Even for retail versions,we pay significantly more than Americans. As for your claim that prices don't drop over time on retail games, a quick browse of Amazon.com shows that is blatantly untrue.
Even worse, the games in Europe are above the price Nintendo advertises on it's major TV/print adverts. The advertisements all say Around £35 ($56). Virtually all retailers actually sell brand new games for £30 ($48). Nintendo sells them on the eShop for £40 ($64). Very few people are likely to spend that extra £10/$16 for a more limited version that alos means they don't get any of the bonuses from retailer reward schemes, which often allow even more money off.
The amount of people surprised by the goat attack, despite it featuring prominently in the last nintendo europe Nintendo Direct Paper Mario trailer, several weeks ago, is surprising.
" Interestingly, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 as the reference point, US 3DS owners were the most active in buying that particular download, followed by Japanese gamers, with the European and Australian sales being "relatively small" in comparison."
Well duh. I wonder why the only region where they priced the games at a significant markup over the base retail price is the only region where people didn't want to buy downloadable versions,
I'm very worried that 17 people who read Nintendolife - people that I would like to think would be knowledgable consumers, are still willing to pay a large amount over the odds for downloadable versions of retail games.
@AlbertoC Thursdays, but we find out what is coming much earlier (obviously)
Nope. It's not happening. I liked 999, but Japanese (Well, non english) voice acting straight up ruins games for me. I could theoretically sell my preordered wii u and have enough to pay for all the christmas presents I am going to buy for other people, for example. And that idea is veryyy tempting.
These were good. Not great, I would have liked them either slightly cheaper (I feel like £0.50 per course would be my sweet spot, rather than £0.67), however, I'm absolutely going to buy any 4star or 5 star packs they release. Easier ones, maybe not, unless nintendo discounts them later.
@Chriiis
They could still get around it. Every region can link their 3ds games to club nintendo accounts, correct?
Simply send an e-mail containing a one use download code to every club nintendo account that has registered whichever game x is getting a downloadable version, before a certain date, that can only be used on the linked 3DS.
They would have to send out a notification or something through the message system before to remind people to register their copy before the date, but it would work out for -most- people, at the very least.
