Re: Nintendo Has No Plans to Fix Mario Kart 7's Maka Wuhu Glitch

Linkstrikesback

@Wolfcoyote...

What on earth are you talking about? Snaking which took hours and hours of practice to get right on each course, is unfair, but using a boost item to reach a point off a course in an incredibly easy way to guarantee that anyone not doing it cannot beat you, that takes less than 5 minutes to learn somehow makes you a "skilled gamer".

That logic is so completely wrong, I cannot believe it.

I don't think the problem nintendo has is coming up with a patch for the game, rather, forcing everyone to update the game. The 3DS can recieve patches easily enough, but it'd probably have to go on the SD card, and if nintendo didn't plan ahead and add some sort of check for it being updated to the latest version when you go online, they're pretty much out of luck.

Re: Your Favourite WiiWare Demos Are Now Back

Linkstrikesback

@my_point_is
It's not a better deal, the exchange rate is so ridiculously terrible it's never worth doing. I'd much rather have a small list to choose from and get one every 3-4 games I register than taking 16 full retail games to get one free game of my choice.

Re: The Binding of Isaac Seeking Approval from Nintendo

Linkstrikesback

@Corbs
Thats one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a while. Arbitrarily holding a company to ransom because they don't port a game to a specific format? Do you play any game that hasn't been ported to 3ds/vita then? If you do, whats the difference between that and SMB?
Team meat have made it blatantly clear they're done with Super Meat Boy and that it isn't getting ported to anything else by them. And I get the feeling they don't want to let anyone else do the porting, since they worked an awful lot on it. (Binding of Issac took 4 weeks to develop, SMb took over a year)

If you just said you weren't going to buy it, fine, I'm not, because I already have Binding of Issac on PC, but I can't see the logic behind your statement.

Not to mention the blatently obvious: There are two outcomes from this.
1)Team meat sees that there is a market for the slightly edgy games they make on 3DS
2)Team meat sees the opposite, and no-one bothers trying to port anymore team meat games.

Obviously your approach is going to give the second one when Nicalis (come on, who else would be looking to publish indie games on the eShop?) try and release this.

That said, I'm sure we all know super meat boy is a much better game.

Re: Sonic 4: Episode II Teaser Trailer Due Tomorrow

Linkstrikesback

@pixelman
Except, sonic 4 episode 1 was a complete game in every sense of the word.

They might as well be calling this one sonic the hedgehog 5, it's all semantics. It's going to be a different game to episode 1 in the same way sonic 2 is a different game to sonic 1

Re: VVVVVV eShop Release Date Revealed for North America

Linkstrikesback

And again, Nintendos rigid pricing scheme is going to cost them sales.

I'd get this for maybe $4, $8? Nah. For one thing, every computer in existance should be able to play the PC version which is dirt cheap right now, 3DS seriously needs game prices to be changeable by the game creators and not stuck as nintendo decides forever.

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

Linkstrikesback

Firstly, the only logical time for Link to "fail" is after he revives all the sages, and causes princess zelda to show herself, but then die in the attempt storming Ganons castle, else Ganon would never complete the triforce in link to teh past

@KaiserGX Gameplay and story segregation. Yeah, you take back bottles and item size upgrades with you, but they're the only items you can actually take back and use.
All the proper items that you obtain to use are either found in the past, or only usable in the future.

@YelloWishua No, in link tot he past, the seal is made by seven sages. Not by the ones link gathered, hence why it's under the section "Link Fails".

@tendoboy1984
There is no way four swords adventures is a direct sequal to the original four swords.
For one thing, the entire game hinges on link being tricked into drawing the four sword, whereas the first four-swords Link is the one responsible for sealing Vaati into it, and would have been fully aware he would escape if he drew the sword.

Second: It can't be before Ocarina of time like you're claiming : Ganon exists. Ganondorf wasn't ever (at least not shown...) to be able to take the form of Ganon without the triforce of power, thus it is after Ocarina of time.

Third: I thas to be a significant amount of time between four swords and four sword adventures for the seal on vaati to weaken.

@FluttershyGuy
All of those are easy to answer.
Link to the past is the follow up to that scenario, like you said.

""Hyrule is as "a beautiful kingdom surrounded by forests and mountains". How would this still be so if Link failed, and Hyrule remained the wasteland depicted in the Adult Link timeline?"

Because, if you watch the rest of the intro, the king stepped in with an army and stopped Ganon, while seven sages as appointed by him sealed him in the sacred realm, just like Link&Zelda were going to, the process of which caused lots of his soliders to die.
Theres no reason that the seven sages SHOULDN'T include the same 6 who were originally going to do it, after all, why would they stop fighting ganon just because Link died? There is also the fact that in Zelda 2, there is a town named Mido, where the rest have names of sages. Easy to think the last sage was the leader of the kokiri who was named Mido.
This is supported more by the fact Ganon has the entire triforce in LTTP which he could only have gotten from Link&Zelda

"If Link failed, it's easy to assume Ganon killed Zelda too, and gained all three Triforce pieces. So, how did Ganon come to lose it, and how did it become hidden in the Dark World pyramid?"

Which is exactly what happened. He at the very least took both the triforce of courage and wisdom from Zelda and Link, and had them in LTTP.

The dark world came to be because that was ganons wish. He was unable to leave the sacred realm, but used the entire triforce to create the dark world after he was sealed there. Furthermore, he never lost the triforce or hid it. He kept it int he dark pyramid as you siad; the direct equivilant of Hyrule castle in the dark world, and so clearly Ganons base of operations. You never see the triforce until Ganon is killed, he knew exactly where it was.

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

Linkstrikesback

I don't think the "Link fails" path can possible occur with Link not coming back.

LTTP relies on the fact that Ganondorf gets the entire triforce at some point. Yet when he first gets to the sacred realm, he touches the triforce than a piece each goes to Link and Zelda.
Either he needs to have Link killed before he touches the triforce so that someone else gets the triforce of courage (impossible because he needs Link to open the door) or he waits the 7 years for Link to come back, then retrieves the triforce of courage (and assumedly kills link, hence him failing).

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

Linkstrikesback

I don't see how people are confused about how the third split could happen.

Link to the past, in it's very first moments tells you there was a war to reseal the sacred land where the triforce slept, after it was opened (in ocarina of time). It took seven sages on the order of the king to lock ganon in the realm, which he transformed into the dark world using the power of the triforce. (As opposed to link finding the sages and sealing ganondorf away where he didn't have the entire triforce, and couldn't create the dark realm)

Re: New Pokémon Game to Be Announced in January

Linkstrikesback

@Marakuto What system patterns? It's not even unprecedented to have the 3rd game in the set be exclusive to the next generation of handheld ->Pokemon crystal was Game boy colour exclusive, where Gold/Silver were playable on the original Game Boys.

Plus, the DS is dead now. The 3DS will have been out for around 10 months worldwide by the time of this announcement, there is literally no good reason at all to release one of your best system sellers on a console on it's way out, when your new one needs all the help it can get.

Re: Japan's eShop Gets Its First Demos

Linkstrikesback

"limited number of plays? are they crazy? they´re only demos!"

Exactly, they're only demos. I haven't played a single demo ever that warranted playing /30/ times but not enough to purchase the game!

If you've hit that limit you should really just go buy the darn thing.

Re: Register 2 3DS Games and You Could Win a Mario 3DS

Linkstrikesback

But you guys who went and bought these games before November 1st? Nah, screw you guys, you don't deserve to get the maximum number of entries you should have for being an early adopter.

Off to mope in a corner with my copies of DOA, SSF4, Pilotwings, Ocarina and nintendogs...

Re: Review: Sonic Generations (3DS)

Linkstrikesback

Well sonic had to learn the homing attack at some point between sonic 3&knuckles and sonic 4 (which happens right after).

minorspoilers ahead

The console version suggests that Classic sonic learns to use the Homing attack and his boost ability by copying them from Modern Sonic.

He can also use the homing attack in the console version, but you have to unlock it from getting all the red rings on planet wisp and then it takes all your skill points to use.

Spoilers over

I'm not sure this game tickles my fancy anymore. I'm pretty fed up of the rush gameplay. It was pretty good in sonic rush. Passable in rush adventure. Sonic colours DS was just a poor version compared to the console game (and I really liked sonic colours wii). I get the feeling this is going to be the same deal

Re: Sonic Generations 3DS Launch Trailer Gathers Speed

Linkstrikesback

I dunno, I really enjoyed the Console/PC version of sonic generations, the rush style just doesn't match up to full on 3d sonic.

It's also too similar for my tastes to classic sonic. I'll probably be getting this eventually but its not high up my list of wants at the moment.

Edit: Oh! That was a sonic rush stage in the trailer! Water Palace!Wouldn't have been my first choice, but at least they managed to get one handheld stage in there.

Re: Feature: The Best Games on GameCube and Wii

Linkstrikesback

No Xenoblade?

Nintendolife, I am disappoint.

I'll just assume the Americans on the staff were jealous and rigged the vites to pretend it's not in the top ten best on wii so they don't have to spend another night crying themself to sleep.

Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro

Linkstrikesback

Maybe it will make fps games better on the 3ds, maybe it won't. Outside of a metroid prime game (and thats not really even an FPS barring hunters), I really couldn't care less about FPS games on any handheld or console.

On the other hand, Xenoblade could never have worked without a 2nd stick + the dpad, so maybe it'll be helpfulf or other genres too

Re: 3DS Hardware Sales Show Big Improvements

Linkstrikesback

50million software units by the end of the year?
Nintendo, I love you, but this is why you keep missing you rprofit targets, there is no way on this planet that will ever happen. You'd have to be insane to think its even slightly possible.
No, mario kart and Mario land 3d will not cover a 30million+ unit gap no matter how much you want them to in the first year of the 3ds' life.

Re: Mario and Sonic Have a Valentine's Day Date

Linkstrikesback

I'll probably be getting all 4 of these within the next 12 months. I expect sonic generations for christmas, probably getting mario and sonic near launch, and iI'll be waiting for reviews/prices for shinobi and crush 3d, but they both have my intrest so far

@5 Yeah, can't wait for Rhythm theif either. Sega sure has a lot more varied support than other 3rd parties (that I know of anyway)

Re: Review: Cave Story 3D (3DS)

Linkstrikesback

No new area content at 3~4times the price= no sale. Simple as.

No wonder NiS were worried about sales if they weren't going to add anything new for us to play with. No time attack doesn't count.

Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)

Linkstrikesback

@Uel. Generations and (day) unleashed are better. Obviously, I wouldn't play the night stages of unleashed ever again, just like I wouldn't willingly ever play any of the stages in SA2B where you aren't sonic or shadow again.
(Before you can say it, Yes, I have played generations, granted, not all the way through since hte demo stations at the game event I was at obviously wasn't demoing hte entire game, but It's easy to see from what was playable that it's better than SA2B by a considerable margin.)
And yes, sega has made leaps and bounds in sonic 3d games. If you're blindly ignoring the massive improvements in colours in particular, then there really isn't any point talking to you about it.

Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)

Linkstrikesback

I wonder how many of the people rabidly defending it saying it would deserve a 8/10 would say the same if it wasn't a sonic game.

I think 6/10 is about right, sega have made leaps and bounds recently in improving 3d sonic games, and they just go to show how badly the earlier 3d sonic games have aged. Maybe 7/10, but I'd certainly put at least 2-3 points below sonic colours (which got 9/10 from nintendolife.)

@HADAA
LordJumpMad is just messing everyone about, I'm surprised more people haven't realised from his stupid comments on every article he posts in, either calling something bad, or asking a question thats already answered in the article like here. Just pretend you don't see what he posts, and leave him to it.

Re: Rumour: Yoshi 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land Demo and More

Linkstrikesback

A 5th Ace attorney? But we already have 6 games. Or is Investigations not counted? Because that'd be stupid. Either way, we know it wouldn't be localised.

Also, the game, if it really does exist should seriously let you play both prosecutor and defense attorney for each case. Not at the same time, but I wouldn't want a 5th game that plays exactly like the first 4 AA games. That gameplay is horrifically stale after 4 games, especially if we had to go back to it after some of the advancements that AAI made.

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

Linkstrikesback

Holy jesus. Excuse me while I go to make a sacrifice to every god I can think of. This abomination is ...oh dear...

I'm so glad I don't like monster hunter, maybe I can get out unscathed from this.

Also: Didn't the PSP monster hunters manage without a 2nd analogue stick? I don't see why this is needed.

Re: Talking Point: The Five Remaining GBA Ambassador Games

Linkstrikesback

Zero mission really isn't going to happen. Giving out a remake of a game they just gave out for free in the same program? I doubt it very much.

Honestly, I doubt the other 5 are all as good as the 5 we know, judging from what we had happen with the NES games, I'm sure some stinkers can find their way in.
(Really wish they would have just given out 20 GBA games, I would have been infinitely happier with that)
