Re: Iwata Explains Lack of Second Circle Pad on the 3DS XL

Linkstrikesback

@antdickens
Talk about a circular argument.
If the second circle pad was included in the 3DS XL, there would be a much larger base who owned systems with a second control stick, hence more games would be made that utilized it.
A very small number of games support the Circle pad pro BECAUSE it requires an Add on, not the other way around.

Re: Review: Project Zero 2: Wii Edition (Wii)

Linkstrikesback

Is it true they removed the mission mode from the PS2/Xbox version? (And so probably drastically reduced the number of unlockable costumes?)

I haven't looked too hard because I don't want to spoil the plot for myself, but if they have done so, that's a pretty big downside, because the haunted mansion mode is downright boring.

Re: 3DS XL Trade Price is Just £146

Linkstrikesback

The original 3DS went a little below trade price +VAT at launch for a while, even from online retailers (Including amazon uk), so I wouldn't give up hope quite yet on £170 being the limit, but I wouldn't expect it to go much further down.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Fanbase Demands Are 'Insatiable'

Linkstrikesback

There are a few key points Reggie has missed out on here.We want to be surprised, which means that we need some big NEW game announcements that haven't been spoiled by internet leaks. Titles that we already knew were in existance from previous E3's, like... everything in Nintendos show this year, barring Nintendo Land, aren't going to stir up the crowd in to roaring applause.

Second, you need to end on a high note with a major franchise. Compared to the best ending of a Nintendo E3 presentation in 2004, Nintendo Land, a minigame compilation, just won't cut it. Essentially, if Reggie wants us to be amazed and have a real positive reaction, we want this to happen again

Re: New Super Mario Bros. U is 'Accessible and Intuitive'

Linkstrikesback

I'm just not excited for 2D Mario games any more. Whereas with Galaxy 1/2, you were bound to be getting a new experience every single star! Yeah, a few came back and were reused towards the end, but that was the extent of rehashing.

This is essentially going to be the 4th New Super Mario Bros. level pack, and only the first two really brought anything new (NSMB had it easy being the first real 2D mario game in a long time, and NSMBWii had the excellent multiplayer), and I could not care less at this point.

It's a shame nintendo games take forever to price drop, I'd get this as a Budget Title.

Re: You Can Transfer Wii VC Games to Wii U

Linkstrikesback

@Madgear
It's not happening. No console has ever supported two generations prior of media. I can only assume you won't ever be buying a console again then, since the PS4 certainly won't support PS2 discs, the Xbox 720 won't support Original Xbox games, the 3DS doesn't support GBA games and the Vita doesn't support PSP UMD games.

Re: You Can Transfer Wii VC Games to Wii U

Linkstrikesback

@LordOtakWiiU

They're not "increasing content by 2". Letting you have your download titles on every machine you own that you bought from nintendo would be meeting industry standards.
If I want to , I can install my steam games on every PC I own.
If I want to, I could install any iOS games I owned on an ipad, iphone and any other Apple device that supported it.
If I want to, I can install any Xbox live games I bought to multiple machines (As long as I'm signed into my Live account on that new machine).

Nintendo NOT offering this service allowing you to access your download titles on all the machines you own is just nintendo being stupidly backwards again.

Re: Nintendo Patents 'Ornamental Design' for 3DS Circle Pad

Linkstrikesback

I retract any previous comments I have about what I wanted most in a redesign.

What I want most is the power button moved because when I'm playing Kid Icarus uprising (or any game where I have to use the stylus for a long period) my ring finger relaxes and sometimes finds it way to sitting on top of the power button.... where the game promptly quits.

Curse my comfortable position

Re: Heroes of Ruin is GAME-Exclusive in UK

Linkstrikesback

Well, thats a significant drop in interest from me. I hate GAMEs price gouging on titles at the best of times. Them having an exclusive = £35 for all time, and I wouldn't even pay that much for the very best nintendo 1st party games, so Heroes of Ruin is probably going to get a miss from me now.

Re: The World Ends With You Follow-up Teased by Square Enix

Linkstrikesback

@James

I can't help but think the game would suffer for having to try and use a huge Tablet at the same time as looking at the screen. It would seem much harder to try and pay attention to two screens so far apart.

On the other hand, it would allow for some amazing multiplayer in the battles...

Re: Talking Point: Lessons to be Learned from WiiWare and Beamdog

Linkstrikesback

@ThumperUK
For a start, it's not 6000 worldwide. From what we've been leaked it's 6000 for North America alone. There is a seperate count for Europe (Another 3000, counted completely seperate from the NA count) and another for Japan, and probably more for other regions.

The developer not being able to choose the game price is disgusting on Nintendos part. That, combined with the fact that the Nintendo NEVER has sales is pretty much a death sentence for any game that gets released on Wiiware now.

Re: Rhythm Thief Misses UK Charts

Linkstrikesback

While I'm sure rhythm thief is a great game (and loved the demo), it's come at a bad time, I bought several games in the massive GAME/gamestation sale recently, and it's hard to justify buying another full price title when I have a huge stack of games to get through first.

Re: Talking Point: The Inevitability of Digital Retail Games

Linkstrikesback

I like physical releases as much as the next guy, but there are some huge advantages to download titles. Europe has already seen a good argument for Full retail downloads in the form of Tales of the Abyss. That game was virtually impossible to find for over a month, and buyable copies were all ridiculously overpriced.

Re: Assassin's Creed III is Coming to Wii U

Linkstrikesback

@TrueWiiMaster

And what do you mean by "mockery of American history" and "insulting the founding fathers"?

[incoming assassins creed 2 spoilers]

Tell me exactly what makes them special in a fictional narrative that has already gone as far as to say World War 2 was a Hoax set up by the templars, or that has made the Pope of all people a templar.

I'd be very surprised if at least one of the founding fathers wasn't a templar.

Re: GAME Drops The Last Story Limited Edition

Linkstrikesback

Boy, GAME must be in trouble. I could even get that they might not be able to stock it in stores, but outright cancelling online preorders at the point where they could have taken the money from the preorders and made profit?

Yeah, I think nintendo must have refused to give them the limited editions...

Re: Talking Point: 3DS Depends on Nintendo Titles for Success

Linkstrikesback

@Maggots

Are you seriously blaming the game developers for not having their own games on shelves? I mean REALLY? You need to go mad at Gamestop/whatever other store you're refering to, because they're the ones who decide what goes on shelves. If it was up to the developer, OF COURSE they would have Ace combat out, I can't think of a single developer who doesn't want to sell as many copies as humanly possible of every game they make, which does indeed require them to be on shelves for sale.

Re: GAME Not Stocking Tekken 3D Prime Edition

Linkstrikesback

@Stipey

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, GAME are the absolute WORST retailer in the country for pricing. They don't offer anything remotely competitive in the way of pricing, and they CANNOT rely on selling ridiculous amounts of anything regardless of pricing. That kind of idiotic thinking is what has gotten GAME in the huge trouble they are now. They don't bother pricing to match others: People don't buy games from them, and I for one am glad people finally realised that they can get the games at much better price points elsewhere.

Re: Iwata: Zelda on Wii U Won't Look Cheap

Linkstrikesback

I'm no longer worried about zeldas art style: If it plays like Skyward sword, being ridiculously linear, and replacing actual puzzles with which way do I swing the sword now, as well as keeping every interesting character of note in one single room (the bazaar), I give up. I hope it's more like wind waker (barring the horrible ocean/sky in skyward sword filler parts) or pretty much any of the other 3d zeldas.

Re: Rayman Origins 3DS Has No Multiplayer

Linkstrikesback

@Link79.

Ok, so Sega did a bad job.

Look at street fighter 4 3d. Look at Monster hunter Tri 3G. Both full ports of console games.

The ports worth buying are the ones that don't sacrifice anything, and even add extras, not the other way around.

Re: Rayman Origins 3DS Has No Multiplayer

Linkstrikesback

There is absolutely no excuse for not having local multiplayer.

I was waiting for the 3ds version, the idea of having it portable put me off a console version, but now the idea of not having multiplayer put me off the 3ds version.

Wanna know why you keep losing sales ubisoft? I can give you a hint...
