@Chibi_Manny They're completely new nose shapes. The guy has an oval nose, while the girl has a square one.
The playable character has always had a triangle nose in the previous games, so I wasn't expecting this kind of change at all. Whether these are restricted to the two faces shown in the screenshots, replace the old/original nose entirely, or we're getting nose customization options remains to be seen.
I don't know why, but it feels kind of weird to me that they're giving us a Pokemon update tomorrow when Little Town Hero is supposed to come out. The footage will probably be short, but still.
@jerrycoeurl It's $24.99 in the US, while it seems to be £22.49 in the UK. There's a country picker in the EU website that should adjust the price accordingly, if you happen to live in another area of that region.
@Manah Funny thing about that actually. An English demo for the US version was released just now (it wasn't there when I checked earlier today). I have no idea if the EU eShop has also gone ahead and added one too, but it's certainly worth taking a look.
@Manah I looked it up and, technically, they're right. But the demo is only available in the Japanese eShop and that's been around for quite a few months apparently. Unfortunately, that demo doesn't have any language options available.
I'm already planning to buy this game, but I would have still liked it if the western release had a demo of their own.
@Chibi_Manny I suppose one can only hope that they end up fixing/changing up the design in the future. Dr. Luigi was in the same situation when he first showed up and wore his usual hat instead of a head mirror like Dr. Mario does.
I'm not sure why, but Dr. E. Gadd sounds like he be quite the odd and funny character. Perhaps he uses medicine made from ghost energy (or uses actual ghosts) to cure people.
@EasyDaRon It's probably for people who own a Switch Lite stand (or any other kind of stand that fits the Switch and other kinds of devices). Granted, I'm not sure how comfortable playing like that would be since the screen itself is smaller after all.
@Duffman92 I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they ended up making every single outfit that Mario is able to wear in Super Mario Odyssey into a playable character. Alternate versions of existing characters is something that's done a lot in gacha games (usually seasonal or anniversary variants).
Unfortunately, Mario Kart 8 (and Mario Kart 7) was already affected by this (ie. Mario > Metal > Tanooki and Peach > Pink Gold > Cat; not counting the babies) and at this rate it seems very likely that they'll do the same thing in the next main title instead of having them available as unlockable costumes that will never take up character slots (like in CTR: NF).
@Elthesensai A quick search showed that it's supposed to get a physical release around November. There's also mention of a Collector's Edition, but there's no info beyond that.
@DarthNocturnal DQX is already on Nintendo Switch (since 2017), but like all previous releases it's Japan-only. Who knows if they'll ever bring it over to the west.
@NicolausCamp Probably because it'd be easier to port, I guess.
The 3DS version used both screens and the mobile version (Terry's Wonderland SP) opted to keep a similar setup, which forced the game to only be playable in portrait mode (like all the other DQ main series ports).
I would hope that they still decide to port it somewhere down the line and if not, they could very well just port the 3DS version of Dragon Quest Monsters 2 instead.
Honestly, I'd love to be able to play Jet Force Gemini again on my Switch. It was one of those games that my brother and I (plus a couple of friends) loved to sit down and play together in, whether it was the simple 2-player co-op function in the story mode campaign or playing against each other in multiplayer mode.
@Patron I doubt it. Growing crops and raising farm animals are the main actions that the player can do in the Story of Seasons (also known as Bokujou Monogatari/Harvest Moon [Snes-ANB]) games. Pets are often secondary and/or just there for decoration with no real way to raise them. The only exception to the former was Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade, where you could befriend wild animals and keep them around as pets.
If you want a cat raising game, you could check out Little Friends: Dogs & Cats (Switch; the reviews aren't that good) or Nintendogs + Cats (3DS).
@Edelgard @Gridatttack Unfortunately, Pokemon tends to leave that kind of stuff for the anime to handle. Just look at Sun/Moon, where all the captain's families were generic NPCs in the games, yet they gave them unique designs and personalities in the anime. Even the Team Skull grunts had unique designs.
Most trainer classes were still generic NPCs, unless they were someone that was part of an episode's plot or important to the overall story.
@JR150 They've already done Naruto references a couple of times in the Sun/Moon anime, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did. There's a ninja tour guide in Malie City whose constant catchphrase is "Believe it!" and is also part of the "gym" (it's more of an obstacle course, like the Ninja Warrior or Wipeout shows) in that location (alongside a couple of other ninjas).
Most recently, there was a Pikachu named Boruto who even had the same hairstyle as him.
@Doktor-Mandrake Well, that's good to hear then (though it's still troublesome that we don't know what's causing it). The most unlikely scenario would be that your console is overheating, but you usually get a notification message that outright tells you if/when that's the case before it shuts off.
Hopefully someone else knows more about this.
Fun fact: I recall that the 3DS had an issue years ago where parental controls would turn on by itself after installing a specific update, though it would only affect whether you could play online or access the eshop itself.
@Doktor-Mandrake I don't have an 8bitdo, so I can't vouch for that. Perhaps the issue will be fixed after the latest game update hits? I'm not sure whether 3rd party controller performance is in their jurisdiction or not.
As for the latter, it sounds like either you or someone else is using the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls mobile app. It allows people to set a playtime limit on the respective console. There's also the Auto-shutdown feature on the Switch itself, but that only turns off the console after being idle for 1 hour.
@Dog Forgive me for wording that poorly and giving you the wrong impression, what I meant to say was that they might release proper movies for Sun/Moon once that region's anime/season is over.
Of course the anime will never end, nobody would doubt that.
@Nagi_Nagisa Perhaps they're just waiting for the anime (Sun/Moon season) to end first? Or at least a little closer to that point, which is kind of what happened with the last XYZ movie, Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel.
While Sun/Moon have yet to have a proper movie, 3 legendary Pokemon from the Alola dex have already been featured in the past 3 movies: Magearna (the aforementioned movie), Marshadow (I Choose You!), and Zeraora (The Power of Us).
@patbacknitro18 I'd rather they didn't. If Natsume touches any of the original Harvest Moon games (which they didn't make btw, they simply used to publish the series in the west before they split and decided to keep the name; Marvelous were the ones who made them) they're definitely going to ruin them.
I'm not sure if we'll ever see any remakes or remasters of them under the Story of Seasons name, though I'd really like a 3D remake of Harvest Moon DS (the setting from A Wonderful Life was one of my favorites, despite events being rather simplistic in the GC/PS2 versions compared to other games).
@Jacadamia Layton's Mystery Journey had an anime which finished airing at the end of March this year, titled Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katri no Nazotoki File. I found it more enjoyable than Katrielle's game (it doesn't take much to improve upon such a low bar), especially most of the new/original cases introduced in the anime. It also tries to improve and add things (or remove them, RIP security guard from case #6) to the cases that are straight from the video game in an attempt to make them different enough for the anime's audience, though some of them were still terrible regardless.
There's also the Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie that aired during 2009, if you haven't watched it already that is.
A Danganronpa collection for the Switch would be pretty sweet, same goes for any of the Mystery Dungeon games (except Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity). The 2nd Etrian Mystery Dungeon game was never localized, so it'd be perfect to port them both, if possible. (Though Atlus would probably be the ones to announce that instead.)
Of course, there's always the possibility that it's just a Switch port of the Zero Escape series.
@patbacknitro18 It's between both games as Gruntilda was still stuck under the giant boulder from where she fell after the final fight in Kazooie. This is explicitly stated in the game's intro. She only got out because Klungo made a mecha for her to transfer her ghost/soul into via a spell, as he was too weak to remove the boulder himself.
The tutorial mole is an ancestor of Bottles, as Banjo went back in time to the distant past with the help of Mumbo's magic to stop Gruntilda's plot (she kidnapped Kazooie and went on to make a mess of the past, so that Banjo and Kazooie would have never met in the first place).
You might be mixing things up because there weren't multiple Banjos in this game (there were 3 Jinjos in Banjo's yard once he got back home). The end consists of Banjo and Kazooie completely destroying Gruntilda's mecha, which sends her ghost back to her body in the present. After this, she tells Klungo to give up on moving the boulder by himself and to send a message to her sisters to help her out. Meanwhile, Banjo goes back to the hut of Mumbo's ancestor so he can send him back to his own time. Once he gets there, Banjo and Kazooie prepare for the game of cards that occurs during the beginning of Tooie (with Banjo saying that he'll invite Bottles and the others over to their house, while Kazooie shuffles the cards).
@patbacknitro18 But Grunty's Revenge isn't a sequel to Banjo Tooie, it's a interquel because it's set between both Banjo Kazooie (two months after its ending) and Tooie (some time before it begins).
It was a fun game despite being so short. Too bad it hasn't gotten a remake though.
@Ryu_Niiyama Technically, you can play all the current numbered titles on 3DS. DQ 1-3 had their mobile versions ported around the time 11 was released on it (though those are all JP-only releases), 4-6 (DS remakes), 7-8 (remake/port respectively; have yet to play them myself, but I've heard good things about them), 9 (DS), and 10 (3DS Cloud Streaming version).
@Fidget @SuperWeird That's the main theme of the game made by Crush 40, the same people who made some of the older iconic themes of the modern Sonic games.
I have no idea whether this theme is actually available during races (probably during the last race of the story mode campaign, if previous Sonic games are anything to go by), but most of the OST is likely to just be remixes of each track/stage's original themes. I recall that they had put up a couple of samples of the soundtrack on Youtube and they were pretty great, so far.
I'm rather biased since I liked a couple of Crush 40's earlier songs in the series, but I prefer this to the overly cringe-filled music from Sonic Forces that was literally singing about what was going on in the stage or story segments (despite that also being the case here, it fits).
@ReaderRagfish It's a shame that kind of stuff tends to happen with most spiritual successors nowadays, but every once in a while you get one game that somehow manages to do it right. This video was what sold me on this game and how I found out about it in the first place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqs1ItidA0Q
@Nomad I remember back then when there was a rumor that a remaster/remake/port of Skies of Arcadia was going to be released for the PS3, but that led to nothing. I'm still waiting for a sequel to Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg (there's so many things they could have done with that IP too...) or at the very least, a new/proper port or remake, as the original PC version is no longer available for purchase and they never bothered to add it to Steam like most of the other odd PS2/GC PC ports they've done in the past.
@LaytonPuzzle27 It's probably Baby Bowser, seeing as the only other plushies in the photo are Bowser. It also ties in with promoting Yoshi's Crafted World because of the material it's made of.
@DavidMac There was actually a plastic VR accessory for the Switch announced and reviewed on here way before Labo VR became a thing, but I recall that they mentioned the experience with that device was rather subpar.
@Heavyarms55 Sony did the same thing with Patapon 2's US release on the PSP. The box only came with an instruction booklet and a download code for the game. I've kept it in my bedroom ever since.
@Monkeido Do you mean the trees in the background when the "It's a me, Mario!" text shows up or the bushes (one with a piece of fruit) that show up alongside the figurine?
They have a similar art style, but the leaves are usually different between the two series.
@ilikeike Yes, they've already shown gameplay of it. There's a couple of gameplay videos available on Youtube, though I'm not sure why Bamco hasn't bothered to upload one to their official channel yet.
@YoshiAngemon That's easily doable, given that they've already done that in the past with Toon Link and Alfonso in the Spirit Tracks stage. Whenever someone is playing as Toon Link, Alfonso will be driving the train instead. Either they find another tall character to replace him (ie. Wiggler or any of the other playable characters from the Tennis games) or just replace him with a clone that looks like him (ie. use a robot from the first Strikers game, make an entirely new Waluigi bot, or simply use a Cosmic Clone that looks like him). It'd still take extra work though, so I'm not really sure whether they'd be willing to go through the trouble of doing all that.
While the Luigi's Mansion mock up looks nice, it completely breaks the immersion when you already know that the artwork is actually from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
Other than that, the mock up for Super Mario Sunshine looks really awkward to me.
@LilDoggo48 I don't remember Paper Jam being buggy at all. Then again, there are a couple of articles stating that there was a launch day update for the game. I had a physical copy at the time, so I can't recall whether I downloaded it or not before playing. The one I know that had a lot of game breaking bugs was Dream Team (thankfully, I didn't run into any of them since I bought the game a while after the update was out).
@ThatNyteDaez The games came first. The anime is just a parody/comedy/skit show that is (extremely) loosely based on the source material and really has no plot whatsoever. I know there's a manga and even a comic version, though I'm not sure whether those two follow the games more closely.
I've been waiting for a new sumo game, though it's a bit different than what I had in mind. Seems like a game you'd pick up and play ever so often. I do hope the price tag isn't too high and that it can at least be played with CPUs.
It's been eating at me for a while (which is pretty much why I'm finally commenting here), but are some of the sumo characters supposed to be references to actual wrestlers? I'm pretty sure that Night Hunter (who shows up around 0:40 and 1:01) looks just like Manny Yarbrough, an American amateur sumo wrestler who I used to love and look up to, until he passed away near the end of 2015.

Re: Bulbasaur Funko Pop Revealed, More Pokémon Figures Coming Soon
@Gravitron A Charizard Funko would probably be done the same way they did Rathalos and Zinogre from Monster Hunter.
Re: Gallery: These Awesome Switch Mock-Ups Can Make Your Dreams Become Reality
While the Luigi's Mansion mock up looks nice, it completely breaks the immersion when you already know that the artwork is actually from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
Other than that, the mock up for Super Mario Sunshine looks really awkward to me.
Re: Game-Breaking Bug Found In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story On 3DS
@LilDoggo48 I don't remember Paper Jam being buggy at all. Then again, there are a couple of articles stating that there was a launch day update for the game. I had a physical copy at the time, so I can't recall whether I downloaded it or not before playing. The one I know that had a lot of game breaking bugs was Dream Team (thankfully, I didn't run into any of them since I bought the game a while after the update was out).
Re: Rumour: DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Leaked On Japanese Textboard
@ThatNyteDaez The games came first. The anime is just a parody/comedy/skit show that is (extremely) loosely based on the source material and really has no plot whatsoever. I know there's a manga and even a comic version, though I'm not sure whether those two follow the games more closely.
Re: Circle Of Sumo Is An Obscure Fighting Game Arriving On Switch eShop Next Month
