Update (Thu 13th Aug, 2020 15:15 BST): And it's here! Bite the Bullet is now available on Nintendo Switch. You'll find it available on the eShop for $14.99 and there's even a new launch trailer to enjoy (see above).
Original Article (Wed 22nd Jul, 2020 15:15 BST): Mega Cat Studios and publisher Graffiti Games have given us a release date for their upcoming RPG shooter, Bite the Bullet. You'll be able to sink your teeth into this one on 13th August.
In case you've missed our previous coverage on this one, we really mean it when we talk about sinking your teeth in. The game's actually being marketed as a 'run and gun and eat' title, where players have to eat enemies, bullets and more to power-up their character, weapons and abilities. A press release describes it as "Contra meets professional eating", and we can't really argue with that.
Key Features Include
- Devour enemies to powerup Chewy/Chewella, weapons, and abilities.
- Chow down on everything - enemies, walls, even bullets.
- Play solo or with a friend in local co-op.
- Four character classes (Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore, and Robovore - which means eating metal) that have their own unique abilities and perks.
- Gorge on 50 levels.
- Character customizations with a deep, branching skill tree.
- Loot powerful weapons with fun modifiers such as Spicy Critter Cannons.
- Craft exotic new weapons by wolfing down special types of characters and enemies.
- Eat enemies to energize skills and special attacks.
- Use a highly advanced shield for protection from oncoming fire or knock enemies away.
- Earn action hero bandanas by fully completing each world.
- Chew carefully - every enemy has its own nutritional information, and a body type will change based on the types of enemies consumed.
- Transform into the powerful Zombro form and smash enemies into bite-sized bits.
As mentioned above, you'll be able to download this one from 13th August, and it'll be priced at $14.99. If you haven't already, make sure to check out the new trailer above.

Looks pretty damn good..
Wow, that girl is pretty muscular. Gamers™ are going to hate this game. Jokes aside, it looks pretty awesome.
@boredlizard I mean women who actually workout beyond butts and waists look like that haha.
I'm surprised this one isn't out yet, given the physical pre-orders on Strictly Limited Games.
They still have stock of this game if you are interested, by the way.

Also available for PS4.
Been looking for a new rouguelike after throwing so many hours into deadcells. Looks like a winner.
The pixel art is disappointing. I love the concept and basic gameplay mechanics, but the sprites were a mess at times during the trailer. With as fast as it plays, I can see that being a real distraction.
Absolutely Delicious
I’m okay with Contra-inspired, just not Contra difficulty-inspired
Those games be tough. Especially that one for DS, ouch!
Finally a pixel platformer on the Switch!
Bizarre concept but holy hell does this game look gorgeous! Vibrant color palette, old school pixel art designs and a rockin’ soundtrack.
I’ll be keeping my eyes on this one, looks and sounds a treat!
There's no taste behind this - it's very random in its look and concept. It's exaggerated in a way that makes it look like it was made by a couple of drunken frat boys. I'd rather play games like Blazing Chrome or Dead Cells, which have focus behind the design and look like they were made by Capcom.
@boredlizard Not likely. they actually got the hip to shoulder proportions correct here(unlike Abbyzilla). She also has proper breasts instead of Jinder Mahall manpecks.
What I'm saying is the art director actually knew how to draw a muscular woman unlike whatever Naughty Dog was trying to do.
I would just like to say that I like Abby xxx
Jesus that's a lot of bloom. I can't tell what's going on
Feel like I'd need a demo to push me one way or the other. Looks fun, but how does it FEEL?
@Jokerwolf butts and waist are all I look at in women, so that works for me.
@Skelliot it feels like you should wait for a sale.
@TheWingedAvenger “drunken frat boys“ run this site, so be careful who you’re knocking bro.
Am I the only one who saw that trailer and thought "how are they not in trouble for copying the Bullets from EA's Black?"?
What IS this lol?
I watched that without sound and without reading the article and came away very confused.
Also, i feel like Jacques Renault said something about biting the bullet... baby?
Hope that the controls won't be a gamebreaker.
Sometimes I’d prefer standard 3D models other than wannabe pixel art with no consistency with the aesthetics they’re trying to replicate. Putting lots of glowing spots and rotating sprites doesn’t help either. It’s too much.
The eating mechanic looks a bit weird to me.
The pixel art and animations look great but, as mentioned already, the bloom is too much! My eyes would bleed after playing this! I wonder if there's an option to lower the effect...
Anyone played it yet?
This site was underwhelmed

Looks forgettable. 🤷♂️
Just waiting for my physical copy to arrive.
"Inspired by Contra"
Hope it isn't inspired by the Switch Contra.
I just couldn't get through the tutorial segment of that game, telling me what all the buttons do.
... probably because if your Contra game needs a tutorial to tell me what all (rough guess) 18 buttons on the controller do, you're doing it wrong.
Really didn't like the trailer. Need a demo showing me it's not a chaotic mess. That's a NOPE from me.
