@HedgehogEngine Yes, those are consumer models. Consumer notebooks usually have 1080p, 2k, 4k, etc., As do most nonconsumer models. If you happen to find one on a gaming laptop, you're in 2010!

It really shines a light on how poor of a choice that screen in the device was. Anyone can make a better one with a monitor and some 3M.

Some high end mobile workstations and business notebooks still use 768p panels, with 1080p panels "available".

Portable just means (literally) that it can be moved from place to place; a refrigerator is technically portable.

@PikaPhantom If only they had the insight to aquire Rare (the greatest game developers ever to exist), we'd be living in quite a different world now. I mean like NSOX with Konker and Diddy Kong Racing, day-one, not to mention better Star Fox and probably a myriad other franchises.

The game company now called Rare (post MS) is just a name and copyrights, nothing more. The developers all moved to other studios, some of which develop games for Nintendo consoles.

Then you never played GTA: Chinatown Wars for DS. One of the better GTA games, especially for those of us who were GTA experts long before PS2 was ever released.

I think it has more to do with developer inability and saturation rather than laziness. A similar situation existed with Atari in the early 1980s. The result of both: a collapse in consumer confidence of video game quality (already getting sketchy of most titles).

@liavcol literally ANYTHING that supports USB drives can do this (not sure if the other consoles support USB drives though). No "phisical version", the Wii U just sees it as a hard disc drive. That's why you need a rewritable disc.

@JayJ it's pretty much the same thing but with an optical disc instead of silicon or magnetic platters. If you leave the DVD-RAM in the drive (you have to to do this), it should last a few centuries.

Virtual Boy Wario Land, not only the system's only marketable game, but the only one that used stereoscopy in any meaningful way, and the only one that was actually a very good game, platform be damned. Anyone who says otherwise probably didn't own a VB. It even has a forest of kinda Meowths.

That's just using a DVD ram drive (think hdd, ssd). You can literally do that with anything that supports USB drives.

Both me and my sister still play our Wii Us online often, including all of the highlighted games.

As a 90s kid I certainly wouldn't call the tame bowing back and forth of Sony and M$ as a "console war", but it's cute kiddos today think that. If it were like the 'war on drugs', the real old school console wars between Sega and Ninty would be WWII.

We can still dream of new Sega console instead. Brings back memories of the Nintendo Nerds v. Sega Soldiers schoolyard arguments, right down to which had the better looking metal graphics.

I remember this one; certainly one of the more inventive platformers of its day.

The second one was really fun too, and had amazing graphics for a Disney game.

I don't understand why they call it that. Haptic feedback is just vibration. Phones have haptic feedback. What Sony is describing is actually called 'Force feedback'.

@TG16_IS_BAE in my country at least (USA) it is perfectly legal to tear it down like this. You own the device, and any software that is needed for it to perform as advertised. Nonessential addon software, like games, however, are licensed for use instead.

Anyway this guy has historically blown hot air, his predictions probably bring correct an ironic 20% of the time. (Wii U's predicted failure, and like nothing else).

They should have changed the final smash one. Having him pop up like that all staring at the camera; instead of saying "badass" (the start of it kind of is), your left saying "that was kinda dumb".

@LzWinky This makes sense. A setting to choose the save format or a prompt to convert all replays on every update seems then to be the best solution.

@Franklin Exactly... The Switch can do this very easily. Someone at the N dropped the ball for sure.

@Eel If that's the case, that's just shoddy design. Either they should be encoded (something the Switch can do as background, i.e. screen record), or if they are hung on the inefficient idea of real time calculation as opposed to simple video playback, updates should auto convert the videos.

I don't get how they manage to break video playback with every update. You would reckon they would have fixed this a long time ago, or if it is just a bug inherent in the code or assembly method, what makes the bug unpatchable?
