@Aronin Online shops in South America and Southeast Asia, send the physical game you pre-ordered as soon as the distributors deliver it to them. Very common to receive a few days early. So people rip the game from the cartridge.
@EarthboundBenjy The Vaporware Bald Twins always looked creepy and out of place for me too, funny. (But if you look closely, on a bigger image, they have the hair drawn)
I have kinda of a bittersweet story about this game. Having owned a NES with SMB3 previously, Super Mario World was obviously the most anticipated game for me, the hype was very high! When I finally received my SNES, I was very disapointed it didn't came with World, but with All-Stars as pack-in game, which I've never heard before.
I was only able to beat SMW 2 years later, when I borrowed the game from a friend.
Don't forget that Shepherd's Crossing english localization is due next month. Maybe because I'm a fan of the classic 2D Harvest Moon, but this one looks way more interesting to me. 🐮
@zgillet This controller was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the article, it's expensive but is a universal "solution". Even with full remaping, I think traditional controllers are not suited for this kind of physical condition.
I remember the GBA launch like it was yesterday, and how big a turn off was SM Advance being a port of Mario 2 USA.
Don't get me wrong, I loved this game, but I was totally expecting a new "mainline" series, like Super Mario Land. Not only that, we never had a full fledged-platform-mainline-exclusive Mario game on the system. 😪
I know it's a bit late to comment, but I have played it when the Switch version was released in 2017, and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had (as a whole, not only gaming related).
Graphics and gameplay aside, the music, the rain and the messages between levels brings that feeling of sad-happiness, like a slow music composed in a Major key (Canon in D by Pachelbel, for example). I kept playing just to read what else they would say about me and myself.
I remember a quote from him about Zelda 2, in which he says the game "didn't turned out good enough" or something along those lines. Since the game was well received at the time, people say that the "black sheep" status caugh on when this quote hit the Internet.
Believe it or not, in the early 90's we had official Nintendo Hotline in Brazil (managed by Playtronic). I called only once, asking about the magic flute in Super Mario Bros. 3, since that item was in the manual, but it's use and location was described as a "cool secret" you had to discover yourself.
I read an interview with Miyamoto in which he said they were planning A Link To The Past to be a (Super Famicom) launch title, but it ended up being released on the console's 1 year birthday (21 Nov, 1991). I believe it is on the Shmuplations website.
I've beaten this game in 2013 and can assure one thing: you barely play it, it's more like a "quick time event", the game plays itself.
The very little you can do is so easy, it's kinda a little interactive story book. It shares the same engine with Link's Awakening, which is a masterpiece, but the similarity ends here.
@victordamazio I believe video games are very different, any sealed first party Nintendo game will worth a lot of money at some point. The same goes for "good" RPG's.
@KingMike In 2004 I bought a sealed Player's Choice copy of F-Zero down here in Brazil (US version, not Playtronic), for like 5 USD. I openned, but kept the plastic around the box. I still regret this move, but it was dirt cheap at the time.
At the same time I bought a Zelda LTTP, (Player's Choice), also sealed, for the same price, but it is still sealed to this day.
Today I'm kinda obsessive, most my Switch games are sealed. I buy multiple sealed copies of the Zeldas and other first party stuff. Man, what am I doing with my life... LOL
@QuickSilver88 Found it totally by chance paging through old EGM magazines (EGM Nº4, page 24, November 1989). You can find them on the Retromags site.
I'm also from early gaming, playing since the Atari 2600 (favorite system: NES). The Switch software line-up reminds me a lot of the NES era, where EVERYONE ported EVERYTHING - you had PC ports, Arcade ports, rival consoles ports, even first party companies like Sega, NEC, Atari and SNK made games for the system. Not even counting the exclusives. Brilliant future ahead!

Re: Review: Killing Time: Resurrected (Switch) - Nightdive Revives A Weirdly Alluring 3DO Curio
There's a James (AVGN) and Mike Mondays episode about the 3DO version. I would never imagine this getting a remaster, but here we are. 😛
Re: Crypt Custodian Is A Zelda-Like Metroidvania Where You Play As A Dead Cat
I would just call it a Zeldroid. 😛
Maybe Zeltroid if it's more like Metroid, and Zeldroid if Zelda...? 😅
Re: Feature: Is Any Mario Game Genuinely 'Underrated'? - 10 Super Mario Games To Reconsider
I would seriously say Hotel Mario, then I saw it mentioned at the end. 🚪😋
Re: Oops! The New Persona Game Accidentally Got Released Early
Maybe it's a marketing stunt? It worked, because it's making the headlines... 😛

Re: Takaya Imamura Expresses His Love For F-Zero 99, Awaits 'Revival Of The IP'
Maybe we can have a new F-Zero and a mainline Mario as launch titles for the next console, party like it's November 21, 1990. 😛
(Yes, I have sweet spot for the Super Famicom launch 🥰 )
Re: Veteran Final Fantasy Devs Gather To Celebrate Franchise's 35th Anniversary
What I really wanted to see is an interview with Nasir Gebelli about his time with Square (and the FF series, of course).

Re: Square Enix Unveils The DioField Chronicle, A Brand New Strategy RPG Coming To Switch In 2022
If in the 90's we had Enix vs Square, now we have Kemco vs Square-Enix!
Jokes aside, Square released A LOT of RPGs for the Super Famicom at the time.
Re: Feature: Someone Did An AGDQ Speedrun Of Legendarily Awful CD-i Game, Zelda's Adventure. Why?!
This was the only run I watched live this year, I was up until like 5:00 AM (in my country time). Actually, it was the only game I was interested.
