As you might have seen over on our sister site Pure Xbox, earlier this month the Xbox Design Lab returned. The player designs the controller on the official Xbox website and then Microsoft builds it.
Since its return, Xbox fans have been creating all sorts of themed Xbox Series X controllers and now Pokémon trainers have joined in on the fun with their very own pocket monster-inspired designs. One individual in particular - who goes by the username 'mandoo12345' on the Xbox One subreddit - has come up with 20 different designs.
There are Pokémon like Charizard, Totodile, Tepig, Ivysaur, Galarian Slowpoke, Gengar and many more:

Although you can't create your own themed controllers in the land of Nintendo, you can actually purchase officially licensed Pokémon ones. There's been quite a lot in the past. More recently we got the 25th anniversary Pikachu Power-A Pro Controller.
You can see all 20 of the themed pocket monster Xbox controller designs over on Reddit. What do you think of them yourself? Would you like to see Nintendo do something like the Xbox Design Lab? Do we need even more Joy-Con colours? Share your thoughts down below.

I made one with the color scheme of Megaman.EXE <3
Didn't the Japanese Nintendo website let you order mix n matched joy-con colors for a while? I wish that option existed for the west too.
Where’s the dunsparce controller.
The golden Slowpoke color schemes looks like Princess Peach. 🤭
Can you imagine the Switch getting the customization and the build quality of an Xbox controller. That would be awesome!
I have the feeling that my joycons could crumble in my hands sometimes playing some games like DooM or platformers like Shovel/Hollow Knight
Can you imagine the amount of money Nintendo would make with such a design lab.
The Xbox controllers don’t happen to work on Switch right? Never tried with the ones I have actually...
wow looks cool. the switch is my main console but if i ever had the money i would get an x box series x. as a secondary system and a cat mario controller.
@Zuljaras mwah, I agree on the Nintendo Switch part, but current Xbox controllers are meh quality too (360 ones were much better)
Not to mention the terrible analogs (but I dislike them since the 360) and sharp corners (of both One and Series variants)
There is no perfect controller, but while I agree the joy-cons feel poor quality and have drift issues, Xbox One/Series controller is still the one I dislike the most out of all controllers out there today (and in the past 10 years)
I got a trans pride flag coloured Xbox One controller from the design labs - love it.
That Gengar one is sexy.
Part of me is glad that this is not available in South Africa. I would spend so much money otherwise.
@Zuljaras I agree! I was really hoping for the Switch Pro for the sole reason of better joycons. The Joy Cons are garbage! They're top of the list for poor quality in my opinion.
Back on subject, I like looking at these designs. It's cool how some color changes can really make them feel like the Pokémon they represent.
@Zuljaras I mean I've had xbox controllers where all the rubber has come off the sticks, plenty of them that drift and the thing that annoys me the most, they aren't even rechargeable without paying extra. Not saying the joy con's aren't poor quality wise but the other companies aren't much better.
I actually just made a themed Nintendo Xbox controller. What do you think: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E5DUT7jWUAg4Ca8?format=jpg&name=medium ?
The design lab is such a cool feature, and I wish Nintendo and Sony would try as well (I especially think the Dualsense would lend itself very well to this kind of customization). Though I do wish there were a few more options for designs, I think some simple striped or dotted designs would make it near perfect.
