Re: Mario Kart Tour Adds Classic Mario And Luigi And A Remixed Version Of Mario Circuit

I don't understand the attitude of some people - that this exists and continues to be supported and VERY profitable does not impact in any way on the development of console games.

The only thing preventing the release of Mario Kart 9 is the ongoing success of Mario Kart 8.

It's a very decent phone game, gets a few minutes of my time on my commute most days, never spent a penny on it.

Re: PlatinumGames Announces Project GG, A Brand New Game From Hideki Kamiya

JaguarWong

Anyone saying this announcement is 'just a name' needs to take a minute and look up the games Kamiya has directed.

It doesn't happen often, but when it does, bars are raised.

Add to that no publisher interference and this is guaranteed to be the best game of whatever year it is released in.

If you don't think that's newsworthy you need to check yourself.

The dangers of too much customer engagement in the development cycle - this was pitched as a strategy game first and foremost to start with, but that was repeated watered down when the internet did it's thing with early build footage.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
No, the real headline is that Nintendo's service is 66% cheaper than the competition.

If you want to focus on the negatives that's cool (and standard practice it seems) for you.

But let's not pretend that your perspective is what the majority will, and already have, taken from this info.

Re: Gallery: Check Out Five Control Schemes for ARMS

Stuff magazine:
"While using the shoulder buttons for punching works perfectly fine, pushing in the analogue stick for blocking feels awkward. Not to mention that it’s substantially more difficult to curve your shots with the analogue stick than it is with motion controls."

Re: Gallery: Check Out Five Control Schemes for ARMS

@iMarkU
Because you use the triggers to punch - from Eurogamer:
"As impressive as the motion controls are it's also possible to play Arms using a standard controller. In this configuration, you move your player using the left analog stick while attacking with the ZR and ZL or A and B buttons. The X and Y buttons allow you to jump and dash while your flurry attack is unleashed using L and R.

Blocking is assigned to a click of the left stick.

There is a sense of granularity available when punching using the motion controls that is difficult to replicate using the analog stick. Curving punches feels less natural and the game just isn't as engaging in this mode. "

Re: EDGE Magazine Reveals How A Single Joy-Con Works in Arms

@roadrunner343
You make a really good point - I wouldn't want to see Zelda gimped to play on a single controller, for example... But Arms is, as all fighters are, multiplayer at its core. So I think a better solution for a Switch flagship multiplayer feature could have been found.
