Chicken Wiggle has been an enjoyable recent arrival on the 3DS eShop, but the Atooi release has only had "very low" sales to date, as highlighted by the studio's Jools Watsham. When confirming its woes Watsham also said a discount would be coming to the game, and now there are full details.
Chicken Wiggle is currently $9.99USD on the North American store (normally $14.99) and will be that price until 28th September. The equivalent discount will start in Europe on 21st September. A new trailer and pitch for the game has been released to celebrate the discount.
For anyone who was on the fence about buying Chicken Wiggle, this is a great time to take advantage of the promotional price and join our egg-cellent community," Atooi Owner Jools Watsham says of the flash sale. "There are already over 400 unique levels available to download for free on-line, and the number continues to grow each day, which is a testament to the power and ease of Chicken Wiggle’s on-line level sharing features.
Are you tempted to give Chicken Wiggle a try at its discounted price?

That's quick for a discount, it's barely out. It's not even a month old yet. If he had put it on Wii U he could have got some extra sales.
...maybe. I have almost no money, so many great games coming out!
Nice! I was going to get this last week, but then when I heard about the sale I waited on it. Guess I have no excuse now!
"Are you tempted to give Chicken Wiggle a try at its discounted price?"
Nope.
It looks more or less exactly like Mutant Mudds, even some of the enemies look exactly the same, i know it's a different dynamic, but it isn't original enough
Still to expensive. And a temporary discount?! He should make it a permanent discount!
I've always thought it looks good - reminds me of games like Alfred Chicken on the NES and looks like numerous Amiga platformers.
I always feel like it's right for developers to set a price that represents the value of their game rather than rushing to the bottom to chase quick sales because a cheap game quickly becomes (wrongly) seen as a game without value. It's obviously incredibly hard for indies though. Shovel Knight has managed it but that's just about the exception to the rule.
Unfortunately I don't own a 3DS and I've got so many things to play that I'll never have the time to (however cheap they may be). It's a real 1st world 2017 problem to have.
Would buy... on Switch.
It really is a terrible, terrible name.
In a fair world that wouldn't matter - but the multi-billion pound product branding industry doesn't exist for no reason.
Just holding out for that inevitable switch port....
@MisterSmith don't be a dick. It's a great game.
I got it last week at full price even though I knew about the discount. Is worth every penny and great work should be rewarded.
@StuTwo the Amiga platformer part is what turns me off about RK/Atooi's games--I always found them vastly weaker--aesthetically and gameplay-wise--than their Japanese counterparts.
Launch a indie game on a moribund platform at full price is not the most smart strategy.
if it was on switch it could be the Super Mario Maker people want but don't have yet.
$10 seems like the right price for this, especially when you're not into creating levels yourself.
Still shocked the dev was ever expecting people to pay $14.99 for this.
I wonder how many sales they've lost because of the childish name?
Yes, sure, I'll buy it.
Ten euros? I'll wait then.
But mind you, Watsham, it's just because I'm broke and unemployed.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Sure, he could've invested in development on the Wii U, a commercial failure of a console that is even more dead than the 3DS, just to get another sale or two. He could also release a GBA cartridge, while he's at it.
@MisterSmith it's a nope from me too. I just don't think jools games are very good. Most of his games have been mediocre imo.
@frogopus I'd bet there are currently more actively in-use GBA systems than Wii Us.
@thesilverbrick 👏👏👏👏👏
Should have brought it to switch. Yea, 3DS has a decent install base, but the Switch is hot right now and people are spending more on Switch indies than all other platforms, so if I was an indie developer I would do anything I can to get on the Switch. I really don't see it losing momentum until maybe next summer.
I think I'll buy it just because of all the negative comments here. I hate that, and the game does look great.
To all the people who say that they've left their 3ds to move on to the switch, I say: Why not both?
@Kobeskillz I'm sorry I answered the question posited in the article?
This game is a great experience. I'm glad I down loaded last week. The main story starts fairly easy and the difficulty ramps up nicely. Another great game by Renega...Atooi
I hope this gets Jools some more sales. He deserves it. Good trailer too.
Loved the game. If you like platformers and have a 3DS, do not hesitate in picking this up. I haven't designed any levels yet, but finished the game 100% and have enjoyed the levels users have uploaded. PS - I think this is a touch easier and more forgiving than Mutant Mudds.
Something about it didn't grab me initially but knowing how good Renegade Kid was I grabbed it and really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend.
Ehhhhh............................. Maybe if it were $6.99
@Aurumonado Perfect setup! And I agree; good games are coming out for both systems, so why not live it up?
I've been playing it regularly. It's a good game. Not great, but very good.
@drich255 I agree, it's easier than mutant mudds and a good game
@Aurumonado
If only...
my pouch is full to the last square millimeter with a USB-C PD portable battery, USB-C PD Wall Charger, USB-C to USB-C cable, portable tripod for charging in tabletop and earbuds.
Even if I somehow had a way to fit 3DS, I'd still need to fit its charger. And, I just don't like playing on 3DS anymore. It's hard to go back to 240p after the biggest handheld jump in the history of gaming.
Only 400 user levels?!? Yiiiiiiiiiiiikes. So, either only a tiny fraction of players have made anything, or he's seen about 1,000 sales (which would be pathetic sales and a still pathetic ratio of levels to players). Either way, that number paints a really dire picture of the game's current state. If user content is supposed to be a draw, and there's practically none? Ouch.
It's a really neat game, and there is also tiny details to pick up on, for those who got a 3DS and the money...but "moved on" to the switch only while wanting this game, I'd give them a slap on the wrist, no milk and cookies for you tonight.
I will get it. I want to support him so he can develop for Switch. But his next game, if he releases on a Nintendo platform; should be on Switch. He really should port this and not Mutants Mudds.
@JaguarWong Agreed, i always thought this was some bad flappy birds clone by the name alone, so never even looked at it. Might grab this once the discount hits EU, but i barely play my 3DS as it is anymore, and i already have like 40 games unfinished.
@JaguarWong hit the nail on the head. The cover art/title remind me of crappy ripoff shareware titles from the mid 90s. Couple that with a high-for-its-kind price tag, (even the new price is a little high) and its release on a system that I haven't turned on since I bought the Switch, it's pretty low on my to-buy list.
It doesn't help that most of its marketing consists of numerous articles on Nintendo Life. Join us next week for "Chicken Wiggle's icon looks vaguely like Angry Birds, says one guy on Twitter."
The perfect price would be $7-8 max, but I think I'll pick it up eventually after the cut.
