Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Lining Up A Huge Year Of Gaming In 2022

I-U

I'm not expecting a release this year, but I am expecting to see Metroid Prime 4. Any Direct this year, it doesn't really matter, but it's time for the reveal. They announced in 2017 and updated fans on a restart in early 2019. An update should happen. It's going to be 3 years after being informed less than 2 years first go around. 2022 will have a blemish if Prime 4 is a no show regardless of what Nintendo releases.

Re: Best Of 2021: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports

I-U

If The Last Story gets a Switch port, Pandora's Tower should as well. Once they have 2 of the 3 Operation Rainfall games, it would feel off not to go all in and have the 3 reunited. I might just go ahead and beat these games since I own them all but only beat Xenoblade Chronicles. There's something to do for 2022.

Re: Niantic Shares Staggering Stats For A Year In Pokémon GO And Pikmin Bloom

I-U

I'm enjoying Pikmin Bloom quite a bit, and haven't touched Pokemon Go much since its release. The flower planting has been enjoyable, but I do think it could be better if flowers disappeared quicker. To maximize planting, walk areas need to be clear and I'm finding myself waiting the full week to go out for a decent walk. I'm in the lower 30s in terms of level and currently need to plant 6,000 flowers to level up. I can only assume I'll be required to plant even more flowers from time to time as I grow in level, so I would like the flower life cycle to be shorter. Rather than a week, maybe cut that to 3 days. I would never want the flowers planted by players to be permanent. That would break the game in a way that would ruin the experience.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

I-U

More than a decade without a proper Metroid game, I guess that's true in the sense of the traditional formula, but personally Dread doesn't overtake Federation Force. Dread is my GOTY when it comes to this year's new releases, and I do hope Prime 4 can keep the standard high.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

I-U

I don't have the expansion pass as I am taking a "wait and see" approach since I don't like the initial price point for what was initially offered. What I'm seeing has not been good, and one new addition after ~2 months is not good either. The price point becomes easier to swallow with more content on the service. If they're going to drip feed, I'll likely not care about upgrading by the time that the service does reach the quantity and quality I'm wanting to see.

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?

I-U

I voted for Zelda 2. I've only played the game once and had no clue what I was playing. Tri Force Heroes is becoming a Nintendo game that I want to grab out of curiosity. Usually when Nintendo fans say a Nintendo game is bad, it greatly exceeds the experience I was suppose to have. For instance, Hey! Pikmin and Federation Force both are runner up favorites of their series for me.

Re: Japanese Charts: Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Go Top In Tremendous Opening Weekend

I-U

I've watched my little brother play Shining Pearl and several streams. From what I've seen, I'm not shocked at all that these remakes are selling very well. My biggest issue with the original games, the atrocious health bar, has been corrected, and so I think I'll finally be able to fully appreciate the Sinnoh region when I get started in Brilliant Diamond, which I picked up earlier this week.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time

I-U

I don't understand the large gaps between the newer releases and the games that they are remaking. If the remade games aren't outright better, they also shouldn't be much worse. I look at these rankings and think both BDSP and Let's Go are very underrated. I'm curious if Pokemon Red/Blue were released on the Switch and re-reviewed, would they be reviewed as a release in the current day or would they be reviewed as 20+ year old games? If an older game can only score well if it's reviewed "for its time" for its gameplay, it's no longer good. I'm not arguing Let's Go should leap into the Top 10, but Red/Blue/Yellow should be the first games I'm seeing in these rankings at the very bottom.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Pokémon Game Ever?

I-U

1. Pokemon Black
2. Pokemon HeartGold
3. Pokemon Sword

Pokemon White 2 may become my favorite, but I've been resetting for a shiny Oshawott which has taken more time than it would to actually beat the game. Once I get the starter, the game will take off.

Re: Metroid Dread Version 1.0.3 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

I-U

This may be the first negative situation Metroid Dread is going to face. I'm interested in the reaction and activity from the game's most dedicated players through this week. This doesn't drastically effect my current experience with the game, but it does limit the possible experiences that could have been had. If the justification is to play as intended, this could be the start of many changes that continue to really impact the game.

Re: Niantic's New Pikmin Game Has Been Downloaded 2 Million Times In Two Weeks

I-U

I'm enjoying Pikmin Bloom more than Pokemon Go currently and more than I did Pikmin 3 (though I do think I need to give 3 another chance). Level 23 currently and looking forward to continuing to level up. I'm interested in what the game does from now on though as I have access to all Pikmin types aside from Bulbmin which I don't believe are in the game.

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

I-U

@Clod The most talked about subject for Metroid: Other M, which is how Samus was characterized, is non-essential to understand Metroid Fusion's and later Metroid Dread's main story. This has been discussed for over a decade, and may again be revisited when talking about Samus in Metroid Prime 4 in spite of how irrelevant Samus' Other M characterization will be to Prime 4's overall plot. The dismissal of so much lore as a base for discussions because it's not essential to know for what's next is ironic to see here.

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

I-U

@Offolsense I really hope that each hunter has their time to be explored further in future entries or even spin-offs. Sylux should be explored further in Prime 4, and I'm hoping Sylux's backstory becomes much darker with regard to its hatred toward the Galactic Federation. Hunters gives Sylux an origin, Cylosis, but leaves the species unknown. I want that to tie in somewhere during the events of Prime 4. I like to think that Sylux is the lone survivor of a problematic alien race that the Federation quietly committed genocide against in order to expand military operations and development, likely on Cylosis. The other interpretation I have is that Sylux is a former member of the Federation's military and witnessed a genocide take place that was kept quiet. That event motivates Sylux to betray the Federation, and Sylux hates Samus as she has been used by the Federation to commit genocide against Zebes' inhabitants and for her trail of murder beyond. I do believe Sylux's character is meant to create doubt in the Metroid Series' "good guys."

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

I-U

@Offolsense Hunters, Other M and Federation Force are three Metroid games I will likely never get tired of talking about. They've been so underrated by a majority of the fanbase, and I think they all have a lot to offer to positively discuss. Super and Dread are also within my Top 5, but the attitude around them seems to be that they're great games so let's leave it at that. It would be nice to discuss the lore and story more in depth beyond the divisive entries. The series is great for more than just its gameplay in my opinion.

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

I-U

Top 5 Metroid game and Dread did elevate my opinion of Other M, as I continue to remember the gameplay fondly after both Returns and Dread. I haven't replayed the game in years, probably since before Federation Force's release, but I've been having a growing urge to revisit this game. Tonight might just be the night to get reacquainted.

Re: Sakamoto: Metroid Dread Is Not The "Ultimate End", Samus Will Continue Her Adventures

I-U

The Prime Series has plenty of potential threats and/or civilizations that the 2D Series can make use of going forward. I don't think there should be exclusivity within the same franchise, same universe and same timeline. Any lore from any game should be able to be used to lay the foundation for the series' future. With the Prime Series going forward, it depends on if Sylux lasts as a threat for more than Prime 4. I don't think Sylux will as I feel like post-Federation Force Sylux exceeds the threat level of Dark Samus in Prime 3, and so it would make more sense for that spotlight to only last for Prime 4. Prime 5 may finally then be the Kriken Empire's time and have them attack either the world(s) of the N'Kren or Ylla, two races/civilizations not yet seen only mentioned. There are plenty of avenues for the series to take.

Re: Metroid Dread's Producer Would Like To See Samus In Her Own Movie One Day

I-U

A Metroid Visions series would be great I think, but I do not know about live action. Why hire the best talent to play Samus when, if she speaks, the characterization and the actor are likely going to be criticized? There is more freedom in animation, and have it arranged to hit a streaming service rather than have the spotlight of the big screen. Live action too I feel forces the movie to be centered around Samus. An animated series may be able to be flexibly diverse and have other perspectives for storytelling i.e. Mawkin Chozo tribe and Luminoth. The series is bigger than Samus.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack' Trailer Is Now Its Most Disliked YouTube Video Ever

I-U

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is arguably one of the most underrated games from Nintendo, if not their most. The game came out more than a year later from its announcement trailer, so its surge of dislikes had little to do with the final product. The current reaction to the expansion pass does actually deal directly with the released product, which just makes it being the most disliked video on their channel that much worse.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

I-U

@Tyranexx Metroid Prime: Federation Force can be played as a single player game. You're not going to be heading into missions expected to regularly coordinate 4 Mechs as you would 3 Links in Tri-Force Heroes. As a single player game, I really enjoyed Federation Force more so than most Metroid games, including Other M and the latest Metroid Dread. It is even better if you have the means to unlock the amiibo Paint Jobs: Bounty Hunter, Zero Suit and Flying Life-Form.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

I-U

@BLD How is Samus weaker in Federation Force than Other M? The smallest Space Pirates in Federation Force are the size of the Omega Pirate in Metroid Prime, and she successfully carried out investigations in spite of dealing with an army of that scale. I don't even think Other M has Samus against one threat that is as large as an Omega. The iteration of Samus in Federation Force, especially after her recovery in the Doomseye, would absolutely obliterate every other iteration of Samus in the series.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

I-U

Other M is in my Top 5 now right behind Dread. Dread actually made me like Other M more, and I have been having an urge to revisit the game. The way Samus is portrayed in Other M overall, minus some of the questionable authorization moments, feels right for a story taking place right after the major losses in her life at the conclusion of Super Metroid. Lost Zebes, Metroids are extinct and the Space Pirates are wiped, what exactly would cause her character to not go through a low point? This is the only entry that makes sense for Samus to be off from her usual self.

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

I-U

Federation Force is the most underrated Metroid game, and I do think the NSO expansion is too expensive in its current form. $50 is what I would expect had the expansion included Gamecube or Wii, and I would be willing to pay that much for that from launch. There's not enough value currently with just a handful of N64 titles. It could get there once that selection is robust though. I'm interested in the state of the NSO N64 next summer.

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

I-U

I agree with the ranking of Metroid Prime Hunters above Metroid Prime: Federation Force, but as #1 over #2 not as #14 over #15. They're never going to be at the top of a general Metroid list. That said, both games are rated extremely, extremely low here. With all of these games being generally good at what they are, just on a technical level Metroid II should be rated last being monochromatic. I've only put an hour into Metroid Dread so far, and it's at least on track to be better than Samus Returns which is my 6th favorite currently.

Re: Metroid Dread Report Volume 9 Outlines Some Tweaks To Key Features

I-U

@fafonio If Nintendo only releases Prime 1 as a remaster, and not the Prime Trilogy, they could get crucified initially for the reveal. I don't believe the dislike will last as long as it did for Federation Force since Prime is considered one of the best Metroid games, but the reaction isn't something that Nintendo would want to have as Prime 4 is on the horizon. If they are not bringing the Prime Trilogy to Switch, don't bring any of the three to Switch as Prime Trilogy HD is the expectation. It has been the expectation since 2018 at least, and Nintendo is fully able to deny rumors and get out in front of stories. The Metroid Prime Trilogy HD rumor circus has been given a free run. I think all or none of the Trilogy are a lot more likely than just one.

Re: Video: We've Actually Played Metroid Dread, Does It Meet Our Expectations?

I-U

I’m sold on the game already so I won’t be watching, but I’m glad you all enjoyed your first time with Metroid Dread. I’m going into the game not expecting it to be better than Metroid Prime Hunters and Metroid Prime: Federation Force, my favorite and 2nd favorite Metroid games. I am expecting Dread to be better than Samus Returns which is 6th best on my list, so I am looking forward to what I’ll likely consider a Top 5 Metroid experience.

Re: Feature: What Is The Zelda 'Formula'? We Break Down The Secret Recipe

I-U

@TheWingedAvenger Prior experiences with WarioWare: Touched!, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Metroid Prime Hunters made stylus control for me nearly second nature by the time I got Phantom Hourglass. The game could have benefited from having traditional button controls to be more accessible, like Wild World's which can be switched between by pressing a button or the touch screen respectively. The two Zelda games are not introductory games for touch gameplay, they're more involved than that, so I could see why it would be a tougher adjustment as your first experience.

Re: Feature: What Is The Zelda 'Formula'? We Break Down The Secret Recipe

I-U

@Crono1973 I should replay Spirit Tracks again at some point as I'm not sure if the Spirit Flute was used during combat. I know it was used for progression. I do agree though that the combination of using the touch screen while also trying to position to blow into the DS's tiny microphone is troublesome. It's a part of the reason why I feel Phantom Hourglass is the better of the two games.

Re: Feature: What Is The Zelda 'Formula'? We Break Down The Secret Recipe

I-U

@TheWingedAvenger One reason I still prefer Phantom Hourglass as my favorite Zelda game is due to the simpler combat. I've always felt it's easier to pick up and use a pen than pick up and use a controller since the Nintendo DS generation, especially for the Zelda series. Knowing the location of the touch screen versus knowing placement for A, B, X, Y, R, L, ZR, ZL, right stick(press), left stick(press), d-pad up, d-pad down, d-pad left, d-pad right, + and - for inputs in addition to having inputs to learn behind combinations of those buttons. DS Zelda games are much easier to understand.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Graphics - The Most Beautiful Switch Games

I-U

I'm not sure how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS are missing when discussing best graphics on the Switch. Both are certainly much better than what New Horizons and Paper Mario achieved, which should only be here for its Vellumental scenes. Much of the list is more best art style than best graphics.
