Hyrule Warriors is the first Zelda game I've been excited for. Every other Zelda game I have I just kind of picked up just due to the expectations and hype surrounding the games. Here, I actually want the game. I'm a fan of Team Ninja's design choices and I like that they don't shy away from sexualization. Looking forward to this title more so than whatever they reveal as the actual "Zelda U."
@Melkac Not everyone cared to accept an interpretation of the game that sought to destroy Samus's character and undermine how the series can evolve. I'm getting annoyed at seeing fans think they are somehow above those who enjoy Other M when all they've done over the past 3 years is whine about Other M and moan that Nintendo owes them a better Metroid game.
What am I suppose to take away from the user score exactly? That a lot of the fanbase doesn't comprehend Other M and the series in general? How many of those users needed essays to form their opinion?
So it isn't just within one person's comment, it's across the board for all comments. They want to limit the activity in the best thing gong for the Wii U don't they? Stupid decision if you ask me.
I thought this 3 min. cool down applied only to our own posts, not comments to others'. Part of the reason why I do consecutive comments to begin with is because Miiverse has a pathetic character limit to even discuss some of these games. They of course didn't expand the character limit to 400.
Samus is too overpowered for a full horror game to work, but I'm all for darker and deeper atmospheres more in line with Echoes, Fusion and Prime Hunters.
This year, thanks to being able to take screenshots for Miiverse discussion, I've been taking more note of Super Metroid's story than ever before. I love interpreting what all may have been experienced in an environment, and I really love Ceres for providing those three researcher corpses: one beheaded, one face down and one on their back. All of them are bloody. It was a scene in the environment that to me is the only time in the series where Ridley's brutality really got showcased. There are other scenes like that over the course of the game, and as I replay Super Metroid I hope to discover more to interpret.
"A reason that the first Metroid Prime earned such critical acclaim was that it successfully recreated the world of Super Metroid — indirectly at least — and transposed the best elements of the 2D classic into a 3D adventure."
There's a huge difference between Super's Zebes and Prime's Tallon IV, to me, in all aspects. But I'm curious, how is Tallon IV a recreation of Zebes and Prime a recreation of Super Metroid's best elements?
As far as Super Metroid goes, fantastic game. I first experienced the title through the Wii VC, and I could see why it was a fanbase favorite early on. Personally, it's just behind Metroid Prime Hunters as my second favorite Metroid game. Speaking of Hunters, today's Super's 20th, tomorrow's Hunters' 8th anniversary.
@Ruffigan The breasts do draw attention, but if you're arguing that they completely take all the attention or even most of the attention away from the personalities they're given through story and gameplay, I'd say that's a case of the person wanting to objectify them, immaturity or a combination of the two. While I can see a reason to remove the breast proportions due to those who are really sensitive to this, I also don't want to see the change solely due to that reason because I do feel it's being overblown.
I have enjoyed my experience so far with Senran Kagura Burst. Since breasts aren't the main focus of this game, that being the game's face-paced combat, I feel the objectification is not done by the game but by the player. If you came away from the game thinking that these women solely provide breasts for a male gamer, then I would say you've chosen to objectify the characters. I personally take the game's action as a lot of these characters' portrayal, more so than their breasts. If anything, I would argue that this game is becoming a victim of a campaign that is overblown by people seeing one portion of these women, choosing to ignore completely the more significant portrayal brought in by the game's action and the fighting style of these women.
How would the Navigation Booth's technology stand up to that energy discharge that the Varia Suit produces? If that Navigation Room becomes non-operational because of that activation, then that's one less option Adam and his platoon have of staying in contact.
@Kaze_Memaryu Upgrading to the Varia Suit when there are hostiles around leaves Samus extremely vulnerable. That was emphasized when Goyagma snatched her up at the top of the crater just after she upgraded. Before, she's sense moving out of Goyagma's reach. The excessive heat wasn't safe, but it wasn't so dangerous that she needed to stop her progress in a hostile region. The possible damage she would take from aggressive bioweapons would be much more severe, with the update process leaving her vulnerable, than the heat damage she takes through progressing swiftly through the sector.
The Varia Suit is only activated when it's absolutely necessary in Other M. Based on Super Metroid, the Varia Suit requires Samus to momentarily stand still and releases a good-sized energy wave as it updates to her Power Suit. Samus was never in danger from extreme heat during the segment. If there is an argument that she is, it's from a player projecting their first time through that segment where there's a greater chance that they somehow have low energy from the heat damage. It's not indicative of what Samus is actually left with though.
As for the short, I've watched it twice and have enjoyed it. I'm glad a fan, a true fan, spent the time to present a backstory for Samus that they took the time to want to craft. Too often in the fanbase now, there are people inept about discussing the aspects of Metroid they enjoyed and incapable of moving past their least favorite game in the series.
The interest I had in getting NES Remix 2 off the eShop is pretty much gone. Why get just one when I know Nintendo would be capable of releasing both on one disc? I didn't dive into the first Remix, so a 2in1 disc would be ideal for me.
Don't like the troll on Other M fans in the article, but this is some great news to see Mother Brain active in the next Smash Brothers. First really exciting news I've heard of the game since Rosalina's reveal. Getting sick of seeing Retro fanboys whine about the Prime Trilogy not being the only Metroid games Nintendo cares about. There's plenty of cool material beyond those games, including within Other M, in the Metroid Series. Love what they've been doing with Metroid for this game, love it even more after all the arguments for the past 3+ years.
They want to create as much drama around the Wii U as possible don't they? Had their holiday went better, maybe I could have understood why they continue to push back a critical title but right now I'm just kind of getting fed up.
I'd get ReVeN. If Nintendo can't satisfy my desire for a new Metroid, I'd gladly take a developer trying to replicate that experience in their title. They've gone a decade now not even bothering to make a Metroid game that revisits the series' roots.
I don't like seeing Super Metroid in third place, and don't feel New Leaf should be a Top 3 in any category above. Overall though, I do like the lists and couldn't agree more that Super Mario 3D World is the GOTY.
October 4th was the release for Pokémon X and Y, but a key feature to connect with the previous games has been lacking for over 2 months. Now it gets delayed. Nintendo has been very unprepared lately.
I don't feel Nintendo has been very prepared for this generation at all, and it's almost inexcusable considering what's available to them after the success of the Wii and DS. I haven't been on the eShop yet, but Miiverse has been working fine for me. I can see Pokémon Bank getting delayed when it already should have been available in late October. Again, unprepared.
If I didn't have to go to different Wi-Fi spots or depend on QR Codes online to get better Denpa Men, I would have likely played the first Denpa Men to completion and may have gotten the second one. As it stands now, the original has been off of my 3DS for months.
I've seen a ton of commercials here in the states for Xbox One and PS4, and zero for the Wii U for around a month. In addition, NOA has announced they will be releasing the Wii Mini in the same month that the Wii U's GOTY is hitting. The Wii U's handling going into the holiday has been mindless and it wouldn't surprise me if the Wii U has a very unsuccessful holiday in spite of having 3D World and Wii Fit U.
No 3DS game should require 3D for completion. 3D has been an option since Day 1 of this 3DS family, and no game thankfully has required 3D. 2D on the other hand is required and supports all of the system's audience. 3DS titles should only go as far as Super Mario 3D Land where 3D is used to greatly help a player understand designs for puzzles but still be doable for the player opting out with intelligent camera angle change placements within the designs. Eiji's decision to have the team develop 3D-required puzzles is the big concern to me here as it would have been a huge oversight of the audience had it released in that state regardless of the 2DS's existence.
My 2DS lasted around 7 hours yesterday, playing software and using the local wireless for around 3 hours. I've been very impressed by its battery life.
X and Y did come in to the Exchange I work at; however, I can definitely imagine some Exchanges not getting the games in on release. Not sure if I'd put it on the shutdown though, more so shipment handling.
I will be showing my little brother this trailer when he gets home. We already wanted 3D World back at E3. The addition of this trailer just reconfirms that it'll be a great investment for the Wii U.
Yes, I would purchase Grand Theft Auto V if it had come to the Wii U; however, I'm just going to get it on the 360. I've only recently got into GTA with DS's Chinatown Wars, and I'm fond of the freedom that the game provides. I'd imagine, considering the size of GTAV's map, that freedom will be even more expansive with this title.
This news bugs me. I'm not very willing to pay $10 extra just for HD. Unfortunately for Wonderful 101, I was already on the fence about it...and now I know this information.
The fact that it doesn't use the clamshell design makes it come off as a much newer handheld than the 3DS, and I think they should have went with this as their next generation handheld in the first place. I really want one.
I actually think this feels more like a new system coming off the DS than the 3DS does. The 2DS has a completely new design overall, and to me, it looks very fresh while also being a bit familiar. Xenoblade at $90 is worth it. If you wanted the game, you should've gotten it earlier at $50. Their price is completely fair for the value of the game's experience.
@kyuubikid213 I hope a Metroid game has a strong focus on shooting or the gameplay's going to suffer. Most of the gameplay in every Metroid game revolves around the idea of shooting. Heck, shooting is a means of progression and how well you're able to shoot in these games determines your success and your pace. Metroid Prime Hunters' focus on shooting is for the better.

There's no way people are going to convince me that New Super Mario Brothers 2, New Super Mario Brothers U and Super Mario 3D World offer the same experience. It's simply not true. I mean if Mario was offering zero change up, I would be sick of it myself, but that's not the case. Even counting New Super Luigi U, which I look forward to getting, that too will offer a different experience. If anything, I think they need to push 3D and 2D Mario more on their systems considering all the untapped material from the RPGs not yet seen in the platformers.
