Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Lite - Half A Switch, But That's More Than Enough For Some

@HalBailman That was TWO YEARS after the New 3DS was released. Which means both versions were on the same shelve for years, which is what I said. It makes sense that if they already produced millions of the older model that were still available, that they used the production capacity to produce a newer and more expensive one, instead of producing more of the older version which clearly weren't selling as fast anymore.

Don't be mad because you were wrong.

@HalBailman The New 3DS was sold here in Europe besides the 3DS. I think the regular 3DS and XL were around 40 euros cheaper. I remember it clearly because the old 3DS XL was around the same price as the New 3DS(non XL) The 2DS was also still available when the New 2DS came out. I bought one last year.

Actually, Nintendo has a worse track record than Sony and Microsoft. All PS4 games run on both models. DSi and New 3DS both had some exclusives that you couldn't run on the old one.

So I hope they go for the Pro route instead of breaking compatibility like they did before.

@HalBailman 'At best there will be a more substantial upgrade, or revision, with more memory, better battery, better kickstand, perhaps better and bigger screen and perhaps better processing. '

That's basically the definition of a Pro model. But Nintendo would probably call it The New Switch or something along those lines.

The 3DS had a ton of different models. 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases a New Switch SP in a few years with a clamshell design so it has a smaller footprint and is easier to carry. It makes too much sense.

Re: Splatoon 2's Next Patch Will Stop Players Reaching An Area That Should Be Off Limits

@BarefootBowser Splatoon 1 was way more fun. The specials were way over the top. You had to change weapons and gear for every stage. Every stage required a different strategy. In Splatoon 2 all levels play the same. Too easy to get to S+. Splatoon 1 was unbalanced, but fun. Splatoon 2 balances everything, but lost it's unique charm in the progress. It's a more watered down generic experience.

@Heavyarms55 i agree, but you can't expect Nintendo to kill their indie support. Plus it generates money. The SNES cow must be a bit dry by now. They have been milking it ever since the Wii was released 13 years ago. All my nostalgic feelings for classic games disappeared by now. Seeing another Link to the Past release is like seeing FIFA 21.

Plus they need the indie support to fill the store. Real third party support still isn't that strong.

I thought it was crap, until they released Tetris 99. That's my favorite game on the system.

Other than that, it's still not that great. I don't think they will be releasing SNES games, unless it's some $10 a month subscription. It would canibalize the indie game sales. The nes games are so boring that they don't compete with anything else on the system.

But any way, never expect good deals from Nintendo. It never happens.

Re: Kumo Is Hoping To Bring A Journey-Like Atmospheric Story To Switch Next Year

HumanDog

I almost fall asleep during this trailer.

I hate games where you move like snail in a lifeless world and have to solve boring puzzles. I'm pretty sure you have to do things like pushing a rock onto a spot, which opens a door to an area where you have to press 5 buttons in a particular order to move to the next. Then you have to stand on a slow moving platform until you move near another moving platform so you can do your slow floaty jump. So exciting.

The world looks like they ran out of textures.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Switch Lite Might Not Be For You, But It Will Be A Smash Hit With My Family

HumanDog

I might buy one if you can easily download all the eshop games I already bought without any hassle(like having to remove the game from my original switch to install it on the lite). I want it to be as easy as switching to a new phone, where it automatically downloads all the apps that are linked to your account. And sync the save games and use the same Nintendo online account.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo will screw this up though.
