Have you ever wished that you could play PlayStation exclusive Journey on the Switch? Well that's probably never going to happen, but Kumo might be the next best thing if solo developer Benjamin Gregg gets his way. He's been working on this game for over 18 months now and you'll soon be able to back it on Kickstarter for a Switch release.
Kumo is a beautiful atmospheric story about a young boy looking for a second chance at life. In the game you play as the titular Kumo, a young boy trapped in a world of Limbo forced to solve puzzles, discover secrets and keep his will and determination strong whilst searching for his parents and finding his way back home.
With influences such as RIME and Journey, this looks set to be a winner. The Kickstarter will go live on 31st July if you'll like to back this project. More details in the latest tweet:

Always cool to hear about “exclusives stealing”
Bring The Witness to the Switch
@JTTS ... so many games with protagonists using green tunics/hats, it's getting oversaturated: The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, A Link To The Past, The Faces of Evil, Link's Awakening DX, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages/Seasons, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, A Link Between Worlds, Skyward Sword...
@JTTS Yeah 4 whole games, two from the same developer, one not even out yet....
@JTTS Sorry you feel this way, The actual robe is not red it is just blood-soaked, throughout the game you can actually get it changed for his original clothing.
@Tantani Also could you please tell me what you mean by "Exclusive stealing" i would love to hear your thoughts.
Before the main character gets up in the trailer, he kind of looks like Orko from He-Man =0p
@sikthvash oh! he does, cannot say I ever watched he-man but that is pretty funny!
@Talesartstudio Heh! The glowing top underneath gives me vibes of Link's blue tunic from BotW too.
Good luck on your Kickstarter!
@sikthvash Oh, I never noticed that!
Thank you for the luck!
I almost fall asleep during this trailer.
I hate games where you move like snail in a lifeless world and have to solve boring puzzles. I'm pretty sure you have to do things like pushing a rock onto a spot, which opens a door to an area where you have to press 5 buttons in a particular order to move to the next. Then you have to stand on a slow moving platform until you move near another moving platform so you can do your slow floaty jump. So exciting.
The world looks like they ran out of textures.
@HumanDog
Sorry, the trailer made you feel that way, but as for your interpretation of the world, there is much more going on in the world which has not been shown.
But I respect your opinion and I hope others will help you find a game you enjoy
@HumanDog There's not much evidence on what form the puzzles will take at the moment; there could be some very clever and original puzzles. As for the textures, don't forget this is going into Kickstarter so there's plenty of time to spruce things up if it's within his creative scope. The world does look a bit like Human Fall Flat, but not once in that game did I ever stop to complain about the lack of textures; it was all about the physic based puzzles and having fun. If this title does enough to keep the player invested in the lore then it may be worth a look. I admit, I'm not too keen on this genre either, but for those looking outside the melancholic box there are plenty of other genres to enjoy ^_^
If the game has only been in development for 18 months, I wonder how long it will take for not only the finished product to be released, but a Nintendo Switch version. Journey was in development for quite a long time if I remember. And I don't think they were a one man team. Maybe I am wrong.
@Dpullam great question! As for development, all features have been created as well as documentation of level design and puzzle implementation has been completed all that is left is to finish creating the other 3 levels of the game and tie them all together, so the earliest planned release date is currently end of January 2020 IF the Kickstarter does receive its goal.
Love the art style reminds me of Furi quite a bit. Looks like a lot of love was put into this project. Looking forward to hearing more!
@Talesartstudio Awesome! How long do you think the game will be. I know the results will vary per player, but could I squeeze 8 hours of game time out of it?
@Dpullam From what I have planned the game should total to between 10 -15 hours!
@Chunkboi79 Thank you! that means so much to me, for more information check Kumo's twitter and discord out
@Talesartstudio Wow nice. I can't wait for this game.
@Dpullam Thank you that means a lot! I cannot wait to show the game.
Reminds me of Rime.
@Maverick_D RIME plays an inspiration in some parts of Kumo, The actual VFX artist mentored me with visual effects.
It looks quite inspired by Journey. Not that it would be a bad thing, but man, the joy of playing Journey and even re-playing it is the fact it has so much going on for it. It's such an interesting concept, unique visually, unique in gameplay and sound design. I could go on and on...
Just hope this is a good experience on the Switch since we're never going to get that masterpiece here.
@ricardosteve I will try my best to bring the best game I can creatively and technically bring.
Rime/Journey rip-off.
