Re: MotoGP 18 Has Raced Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch, Available Today

Hughesy

@Gerald Its still not bad considering the amount of bikes on screen and the physics involved. Even on Xbox One X it's not mind blowing, although compared to 17 it's a big improvement as they moved go unreal engine.

Unless you're a Moto GP fan it's probably not worth it, but I'm a huge fan and go to watch it at Silverstone each year, so for me it's essential. I got it for free on Xbox so I also bought the Switch version, as a portable version I think it's good, much better than it was on PS Vita.

Re: Nintendo Is Banning Switch Game Cards To Combat Piracy, Potentially Killing The Second-Hand Market

Hughesy

I haven't bought a pre owned game in about 15 years, so this won't affect me. They do need to resort to extreme measures, especially with paid online play, as I refuse to pay to play online if hacking is a big thing, PS+ and Live are pretty secure although not totally.

PC online gaming often gets totally ruined, but at least you don't pay. Having said that I've had my Sea Of Thieves ruined many times, as there's cross play with PC, wish I could select to only play with people on the same platform

Re: Turtle Beach Confirms Massive Lineup Of Fortnite-Ready Headsets For Switch

Hughesy

@G-Boy That's only because you haven't tried high end audio equipment, or even mid tier which cost less than Turtle Beach but have better quality. It's like Beats headphones, they are overpriced compared to the audio quality they offer.
If they were half the price they currently are they wouldn't be so bad, but with "Gamer" applied they are too much for what they offer.
There are some good headsets from lower end to high end, Corsair Void, astro A40s and A50s, Steelseries Arctis Pro+ gaming dac to name a few.
I've tried 6 different Turtle Beach headsets and they all had terrible audio quality vs the price they cost.

Re: Cross-Platform Play For FIFA Is A Possibility, Lots Of First-Party "Issues" To Work Through

Hughesy

@gortsi You may as well have cross play with Fifa and rocket league playing together, because like FIFA on Switch and the main consoles it's a totally different game. It doesn't take a genius to work it out. EA are talking about PC, Xbox but probably not PS4 as they don't allow cross play, they aren't talking about the Switch version.

I'm going to assume you are quite young and don't understand how online gaming works.
As someone who's job it is to keep servers running I can tell you that in order for cross play to work it needs to be the same game code on each device, Fifa on Switch is on a custom engine and is totally separate to the main version.

Re: Cross-Platform Play For FIFA Is A Possibility, Lots Of First-Party "Issues" To Work Through

Hughesy

@gortsi Not sure how many times I have to repeat it, but this will be the last. It's impossible, because it would play differently on the main consoles and the Switch. It would be like FIFA and PES cross-play, it just wouldn't work. They are two separate games but with the same name, I have it on Switch and PS4 and they are TOTALLY different games.
The ai controlled players including the keepers are nowhere near as advanced in the Switch version.
On Switch it is totally stripped down, there's no real weight transfer, thus the Switch players would have a huge advantage. Then there's the ball physics, you can score from miles out on Switch because again it's simplified on Switch. Then there's the tricks and how you can shield the ball, it works differently on PS4 compared to Switch. The reason games like Fortnite have cross play is because it's the same game just with worse/better graphics.

Every game that has had cross play is the same game but with different graphics, that's why it works. The way FIFA is coded is completely different, so there would be massive conflicts, thus each game wouldn't know how to communicate with each other. It has nothing to do with how demanding a game is, when they are two different games they wouldn't work together. If you've ever done any coding in your life you'd know it wouldn't work.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Director Explains Why Motion Controls Are Mandatory

Hughesy

Thanks NintendoLife for taking the view that some of us simply can't use motion controls. With my disability I simply can't, yet my 3 year old nephew wants it for his birthday and will want me to play it with him, yet I can't because the developers don't care. Nintendo making it harder for disabled people to play games, yet Microsoft are going the extra mile so EVERYONE can enjoy gaming.

Re: Motion Controls Will Be Compulsory To Catch Pokémon In Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee

Hughesy

@WiltonRoots So basically you're just a troll?

@JaxonH Some people flat out can't or don't want to use any form of motion controls, there's literally no reason to force it on people as its not hard hard to add options.
Myself I can't use motion controls because I suffer from multiple sclerosis and can't aim using motion, maybe some here should think before posting because not everyone is moaning just because....

Re: Ubisoft CEO Believes The Next Generation Of Consoles Will Be The Last

Hughesy

They said the same during the last gen era. It's just not going to happen, not only do people like owning games, but the input lag and servers create a poor experience no matter how fast your broadband is. Just look at how terrible PS Now games look and feel compared to physically owning and playing the same game.

Re: Dataminer Finds Fortnite Update in Switch eShop

Hughesy

I'm looking forward to dominating Switch only players, by that I mean those that haven't played it. Pro tip though, build rather than shoot. Because if you can out fox somebody whilst building you will get easy kills, if you just stand there and shoot you will get killed.

Re: EA Says Fifa 19 On Switch Will Build Upon Its Custom Engine To Improve Graphics

Hughesy

@kobashi100 No because they actually change the way the game plays, not always for the better, but they at least try. Fifa on vita was literally the same game being resold over and over again.

Fifa on Switch already plays like the last gen era, so it's already lagging behind in the physics and ai department. The AI are too easy to predict for me on the hardest difficulty, as there's no variety in how they play, that's not what the PC and other current consoles are like.

I've still played it to death, as like I said it's the best mobile Fifa game.

Re: Nintendo Announces Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! For Nintendo Switch

Hughesy

@Anti-Matter Hey man I have no issue with that, but until about 5 mins ago I thought this was the main Switch Pokemon game, which it isn't. That being said Pokemon doesn't need to be made easy for people to enjoy it, I was only a kid when Red came out and played it to death.

I can't see this attracting a casual gamer who only plays Go into buying a Switch, they will just keep playing the mobile game. Somebody who is a casual gamer isn't going to pay over £200 to play a game, but we will see.

Re: Nintendo Announces Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! For Nintendo Switch

Hughesy

@skrax I won't be. Never bought Pokemon Ultra Sun. The series had already changed too much, but not in a good way. I've never had a interest in Pokemon Go, so the Switch version which is like Go mobile I really have no interest.

They had a chance to do something great, it's the first time they've actually had modern hardware, and they decide to get rid of everything that made the series great.
