Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 6th)

Grumble

I just upgraded to the new OLED Switch! So I also picked up Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and am loving it. Currently just got to the first dungeon.. lol.. Haven't played this in years, but its seriously a great game. Also recently got: Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Sonic Mania, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Cooking Mama Cookstar, Paper Mario: Origami King, Rayman Legends, a few others, and lots of e-shop games. Looks like all my weekends are set for awhile! 8)

I also just updated my profile after not doing so for years but I have a vintage gaming YouTube channel that I post videos in weekly (mostly Atari & Nintendo.) Check it out in my profile if interested.

Btw, I am loving the OLED Switch! It's a huge upgrade to the original I had initially. I had a Switch Lite before this I got in Summer 2020 and really missed playing on the big screen. (I gave my launch edition Switch to a kid who I met and was extremely poor, so I visited with his family, and I did my good deed and traded it for his Dads' PS2 plus Sega Genesis and games. He literally cried he was so happy. When I was a kid, dreaming for the day when I could afford a new NES or SNES game, because my parent's couldn't afford it, I always wished a stranger would trade me for one, and that's exactly what I did. Well, for another kid who was just like me.) 8-)

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch Has Already Matched Its Lifetime Wii Sales

Grumble

@geiseldiesel oh, definitely! I still haven’t beat the game because I’m just too busy playing so many other things. But I’m about 25% in. It’s a beautiful game, for sure, and I see much more positive about it than negative. I feel like if Zelda fans knew the BOTW follow up borrows quite a bit from this game, they would be more apt to play it. Such an underrated gem for me, kind of like Spirit Tracks that I went back and played many years ago and fell back in love with. 🙌🌟

Re: Where To Buy Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Grumble

@Kynwal hahah, for sure. I had luck yesterday so hit up the gamestops and have them call a nearby store if they are out , worked for me . You can aLos change out the joy cons to a different color the old ones work too

Re: Where To Buy Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Grumble

@Kynwal What I do to remedy that situation is wash my hands before using my Switch jk haha I hear ya. I just got a case for it from Best Buy since they made the new OLED Switch a millimeter longer, older accessories don't fit. (Argh.) New cases are like $20. But yes, I hear you... I do like the white color, though, it looks a little less childish and more premium. Def feels heavier in the hand and much larger than my lite!

Re: Where To Buy Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Grumble

@Kynwal Update: I purchased an OLED Switch (white model) today. GameStop down the street had one more left, and I ran up to purchase it! Loving it so far. I know I seem like I'm going back on what I said, but I was afraid of supply chain issues and holiday sales (empty shelves) so I went ahead and bit the bullet, lol. So far it gets an A++!

Re: Talking Point: The Switch Is Following Nintendo's Successful Portable Playbook

Grumble

The OLED model doesn't justify the upgrade for myself and for many I know, and if Nintendo really wants to make stockholders and investors happy, as well as loyal customers (32+ year customer here) they'd innovate at a much faster pace with this console. I'm still happy with my Switch Lite I got last year! But I still play my 3DS, GameBoy Micro, GBA, Wii U, Super NES, NES and N64 about as much as I play the Switch Lite!

Re: Best Of 2020: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

Grumble

The 3DS was a natural successor to the DSi and the GameBoy Advance SD, and so many more before it, going back to the original GameBoy. (I owned them all, and I still play my GameBoy Micro from time to time!) I remember saving up all my money from my first job at the age of 14 to get more games for my GBA, including Minish Cap, one of my faves. While I suppose the Switch is a natural progression from the 3DS, we still don't have apps which the 3DS had and lack of customization for the Switch seems to be a step backwards for me as an OG classic gamer. The 3DS will definitely be missed! Go download your games while they're still available. Word on the street is Nintendo is slowly dropping 3DS titles in the shop. The 3DS was and still is an amazing device that I use every once in a while, probably about as much as my Switch at this point since I've moved on to 8 bit 80's gaming at this point. DEF one of the best on the OG systems! xx

Re: Feature: 2010-2019 - Nintendo's Decade In Review

Grumble

I still think Amiibo is not worthy of mentioning here... A silly technology with little to no relevance on (most) gameplay. My highlight of the past 10 years was definitely the 3DS XL. I played on mine for the longest, and I still fire it up once in a while to play my Ambassador Games Right now, I'm obsessed with my Switch Lite and playing Zelda: links awakening and Tetris 99. Here's to another great decade of Nintendo!

Re: Review: Human Resource Machine (Switch eShop)

Grumble

@Spiders That is subjective, obviously.. in my opinion, this Human Resource game is not a real game, it's junk ware, or poorly ported mobile game or PC copycat bloatware, and a real game would be something along the lines of a VC release or a new game, even an indie game, as long as its original. Again, this is entirely subjective. It would be nice to have more good games, though.

Re: Review: Super Mario World (New 3DS / SNES)

Grumble

This is my most recent (today) 3DS e-shop purchase after being totally glued to my Switch and my NES (for some reason), and man, SMW is just as fresh and awesome today as it was back when I was a kid and playing it on my Super Nintendo. Awesome game on the 3DS, and a perfect treat for new and old (ahem!) alike. 10! A+

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 2.1.0 is Now Live

Grumble

The ONLY thing the Switch needs are more games, and it would have been nice if we could have brought over our already purchased (sometimes, more than once!) titles from the Wii U and 3DS eshops. How many times are we going to have to re-buy the same games, Nintendo? I'm surprised there isn't massive outrage. However, I still love my Switch, and the one fabulous Zelda game that plays great on it. Also: I had a WIFI issue for the past few days where my Switch wouldn't connect to my home wifi (as it had previously) and I scoured the internet and found that this can be fixed by fully powering off the Switch (holding in power button on top left until the system restarts.) This fixes the wifi problem. Seems like this issue would have been addressed in this system update since I see others have suffered from it, too.

Re: Review: Toki Tori 3D (3DS eShop)

Instant purchase for me since I own the Virtual Console version. Loved it then, and this is even better! Updated for the times and even better! Totally agree with the great review. Here's hoping a sequel is in the works! A+ Great value and a great game!

Re: Review: Fairune (3DS eShop)

Grumble

This game is currently on sale for like $2 in the e-shop. Purchased it earlier today and haven't put the dang thing down.. Great little puzzler, with cute retro music and graphics. I can see that the original Zelda was a huge inspiration here. I would have to agree with the review, and maybe throw in an extra point because I love this. I heard it's a short game and while I'm already 3/4 the way through, for $2, you can't go wrong here.

Re: Feature: Our Nintendo Gaming Plans for Halloween - Part One

Grumble

Friday the 13th on NES is one of my favorite old skool games! (I agree with Joel Couture!) It's a wonderful game! The music, the frenetic pace, the slayed kids, the creepy cabins and screen views. I love it! I actually beat it once, it's possible, but very very difficult! Love it! Grab it if you can at a used game store or online, and play it. I hope Nintendo will release this on 3DS e-shop soon (doubtful though with licensing issues), it would be a wonderful game to play again but portable.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

Grumble

Totally agree with the review, as sad as I am to say that. The demo felt like it was a cheap $5 dsiware game. When a Zelda game feels like that, it's not good! My score: 5/10. In my opinion, this is the WORST Zelda game in the entire franchise. It offers nothing new or exciting as all other Zelda games before it have.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (3DS)

Grumble

As a huge AC:NL fan, I actually love AC:HHD for what it is. It's not a re-hash of the same game as AC:NL was, obviously, and that's a good thing. Instead, this game is all about creativity and sharing your AC creations with others. If you don't like it, don't buy it. That being said, I love this game, I'm currently playing it like crazy and I would give it a 8/10. Good review, but I would actually rate it higher. Wouldn't give it a 10 just because you can't fish and you don't have your own home to live in and create. Other than that, it's great! So give it a play first if you can (rent it) before you buy, see if it's your cup of tea. Just because something isn't the same as what it was before is no reason to hate on it. As always, if you don't like it, don't get it. Ciao!

Well, its coming today, and it's 200 points. I think it might be worth it, but we'll see...
