Animal Crossing is a curious franchise. It's in the name, naturally, that animals are walking around on two legs and charming us with silly dialogue, but not all will relate the characters to real animals. Sure, they may loosely resemble dogs, ducks and more, but the stylised visuals and quirky setting ensure that we don't take the game literally.
Nintendo of America is, though, releasing a video with cute dogs representing Isabelle, Digby and K. K. Slider recreating a scene from Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. It's a clever recreation that accurately replicates the music and camera angles often seen when finishing a creation in the actual game, though for our money the dogs seem a little baffled by events.
We can't decide whether this is charming, weird, or both. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

THOSE REALISTIC GRAPHICS BRAH!!!!!!
Digby at the end is just too adorable.
this is pure gold!
this is really weird but cute at the same time.
Digby looks really similar to the character... like way close. More than the other two.
7.8/10 No Dog Villager
Dog Villager for Smash
Isabelle's dog form was...off. But the whole thing was adorable!
10/10
Nobody knows, but this is secretly running real time on Nintendo NX.
This commercial made me smile
I just died of cuteness overload.
Send help pls. I need revival.
Ad cute but nothing will make me ever want this game unless it involves giving me money.
This is so weird and dumb. It's great
Nintendogs and AC crossover confirmed.
I was hoping K.K. would bust out one of his jams.
It's cute!
Woah! Trippy stuff. This world is hopeless..
Worst choice of dog breeds ever! Seriously, all the featured characters have short hairs and floppy ears, and the dogs were totally opposite of that!
I don't even care if it was even so cute beyond compare - I really don't like seeing little kids confused over the comparisons between the characters and real-life counters!
@erborlongan Exactly! Why isn't K.K. a white Jack Russell, either?! Maybe due to a low budget, they had to use dogs that were somewhat easily available. That doesn't explain why K.K. has a female animal's voice, though.
Cute and clever video, in any case.
Surprised they didn't get a chubby pink sea otter in there.
I'm no dogspert, but I too was annoyed that the real-life breeds didn't match their Animal Crossing counterparts (and they didn't seem at all trained either considering that the dogs were just wandering aimlessly without any direction whatsoever).
@andrea987 : That's what was going through my head too (Animal Crossing x Nintendogs). It would be a strange combination of games to cross over. Yes, they both involve animals, but the gameplay and visual styles couldn't be more different. Perhaps a new Nintendogs game for NX with an Animal Crossing theme/aesthetic is in order?
@sillygostly Nintendogs: Happy Doghouse Designer.
Cats rule!
Cats rule! Dogs drool.
I liked this a lot. Between you're a kid you're a squid, the super Mario maker commercial, and this Nintendo's ads are improving. There are not great yet but they have personality and aren't generic which is good!
What did i just witness?
After watching this video, I'd be open to buying this game solely for the music. Lovely
@BluStreak We need an ambulance! Wii U! Wii U! Wii U!
@whiffy5 I'm dying of cuteness overload!!! I need Dr. Mario!!! AHHHHH!!!!!
Isabelle and Digby are siblings shouldn't they have been the same breed? and KK is a dog looking character who is obviously a different breed than the one used too..
though..those are the most popular breeds in Nintendogs so I guess this is a small notion about a crossover? like nothing too fancy just unlocking AC style costumes for your Nintendogs and stuff.
Tell me my eyes are more terrible than I give them credit for, but it seems Isabelle's is a male dog.
Cute!
