Blimey, 2020 was a bit of a slog, wasn't it? It's unlikely to be remembered as a particularly bumper year in mankind's history, what with a global pandemic effectively shutting the entire world down. We've had to curtail things we love to do in order to keep people safe, and many of us will have lost loved ones to a virus which, 12 months ago, wasn't viewed in quite as dramatic a light.

2021 doesn't look like it's going to be all that different – from where we are in the UK, a national lockdown has effectively been put in place which means we're kicking off the new year in very much the same fashion as we spent most of 2020 – but there are still reasons to remain cheerful. The earth's top boffins have discovered a vaccine and, fingers crossed, the new year's message we post in 12 months will be a little more upbeat.

Anyway, enough of all that, let's take some time to look forward to 2021. What new games do you think we'll see? How will events like E3, Gamescom and PAX pan out this year? Will Bayonetta 3 finally see release, or will we just be told that "development is going well" again? How many more staff will Retro hire to work on Metroid Prime 4? Will the accursed Switch Pro actually materialise?

We're not sure 2021 has the answers to all of those questions, but we'd like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a prosperous and enjoyable year – and thanks for making Nintendo Life the site it is today. On that topic, it's worth pointing out that we've had a record year for traffic across the entire Nlife Network – our sister sites Push Square and Pure Xbox have enjoyed their biggest ever years, and all three sites racked up a combined 361,424,293 pageviews over last 12 months – so 2020 wasn't all bad, we guess.
