Blimey, 2020 was a bit of a slog, wasn't it? It's unlikely to be remembered as a particularly bumper year in mankind's history, what with a global pandemic effectively shutting the entire world down. We've had to curtail things we love to do in order to keep people safe, and many of us will have lost loved ones to a virus which, 12 months ago, wasn't viewed in quite as dramatic a light.
2021 doesn't look like it's going to be all that different – from where we are in the UK, a national lockdown has effectively been put in place which means we're kicking off the new year in very much the same fashion as we spent most of 2020 – but there are still reasons to remain cheerful. The earth's top boffins have discovered a vaccine and, fingers crossed, the new year's message we post in 12 months will be a little more upbeat.
Anyway, enough of all that, let's take some time to look forward to 2021. What new games do you think we'll see? How will events like E3, Gamescom and PAX pan out this year? Will Bayonetta 3 finally see release, or will we just be told that "development is going well" again? How many more staff will Retro hire to work on Metroid Prime 4? Will the accursed Switch Pro actually materialise?
We're not sure 2021 has the answers to all of those questions, but we'd like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a prosperous and enjoyable year – and thanks for making Nintendo Life the site it is today. On that topic, it's worth pointing out that we've had a record year for traffic across the entire Nlife Network – our sister sites Push Square and Pure Xbox have enjoyed their biggest ever years, and all three sites racked up a combined 361,424,293 pageviews over last 12 months – so 2020 wasn't all bad, we guess.

Despite everything going on in the world, I actually really enjoyed my 2020. Mostly got to just sit at home playing video games which I'm never going to complain about.
Happy New Year to everyone in the Nintendo Life, Push Square, and Pure Xbox community, and thank you everyone for making this year a little more bearable.
Happy New Year everyone! Here's hoping it'll be much better than the rollercoaster that was 2020 both in terms of covid and Nintendo. Both shouldn't be too hard, relatively speaking.. right?
Happy New Year everyone. Last year challenged our health and our unity. 2020 is not a year we should put behind us. It's one we should build from.
Happy New Year, guys. I think that 2021 will have a rough start, as COVID surges and mutates, but the vaccines give us huge hope! Stay safe out there, and let's try to find some solace here on NL... and let's try to be kind to each other!
361,424,293 page views... That's just absurd, and so well deserved!
Happy New Year to all!
Nintendo direct time!
Happy New Year! Not sure about Metroid Prime 4, but Bayonetta 3 and No More Heroes 3 I think are more likely to release this year. The pandemic does make releases harder to guess. Not knowing how things have been hindered and how long they will continue to be. Maybe there will be a Direct this month to give us an idea of what’s to come in Q1.
Happy New Year to everyone here at Nintendolife! Thanks for keeping up the good work. I have to admit I've moved over to PushSquare more this year as Nintendo haven't really released anything of interest to me since Luigi's Mansion. I still love the Big N, but it feels like it's been a long while since they tailored anything towards my ilk. Here's to 2021 and hoping that we get some of that classic Nintendo goodness.
Happy New Year!!! Good riddance 2020.
You spoil me with Waluigi.
Happy New Year and lets hope we get Capcoms Alien Vs Predator, Outrun 2, Split Second Racing, Call Of Duty 4 remastered, StarFox 64 HD and a load of other great games!
2020 did have its downsides but had more pros then cons for me heres to a happy new year at nintendo and gamers.
2020 had some good things but most were dreadful!
Happy New 2021!
Happy New Year's.
Here's hoping, 2021 is better then 2020, stay safe everyone.
2020 would have been a whole lot harder for my family if not for Animal Crossing (the game which caused the Switch controller button layout to replace the xbox controller button layout in my wife's head).
We also loved Alex's videos, so this site can comfortably sit on the 'good things of 2020 list' (without a lot of company....)
Hoping for a NEW game from Nintendo in 2021, not another year of Wii U ports and Mario Bros re-skins 🤞
Happy New Year and the best wishes for the entire NLife team and all the members on here. Let's make this one a far better year, shall we?
Also, 2021: Phoenix Wright for Smash.
Or even better, Zagreus for Smash!
@locky-mavo,
Can't wait for a Nintendo direct, the only thing I hate is the constant rumor mill around them, will it be this month or next, this rumor sounds credible because a certain leaker got something right before.
@Milton_Burle,
Animal crossing new horizons and Paper Mario, were not Wii U ports or Mario bros re-skins.
Happy New Year!
This has become my go-to games site over 2020, keep up the great work
Happy new year everyone, hopefully 2021 is a much smoother year for you and your families than 2020.
Happy New Year y’all! Be sure to eat your hog jowl, blackeye peas and greens for a healthy, wealthy and wise year!
Happy New Year everyone!! If you're reading this, then good news, you made it to 2021.
Now can we focus on what's really important, we haven't had a full Nintendo Direct in over a year and I think we'd all like to know what new Switch games we can look forward to this year. Right now I can think of yet one more Wii U port and Bravely Default 2, then yelling into the void for games that probably won't release until 2022. My Switch is ready.
I think I personally accounted for at least 10,000 of those 361 million page views in 2020 😅
NL is by far my favorite stop on the WWW! The news, reviews, and especially the community conversation here have made all the 2020 adversity that much more tolerable.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I’m praying that this year we’ll see covid squashed, kindness and caring grow, and Waluigi finally arrive as a playable Smash chara!
Happy new year everyone.
Merry new year to you all, fantastic website and community, keep up the good work and stay safe all xxxx
Happy New Year to all you guys! Just remember to stay healthy, wash your hands, wear your masks while you're out, do social distancing, all that stuff to defeat COVID. Here's hoping 2021 will be an even better year.
@johnvboy You're right, I forgot about those. Didn't buy either, that's why they must have slipped my mind! This year the indy releases really kept me going.
With so much anxiety and depression people all across the world in 2020, let's hope and pray 2021 will be the year we rise from all that was 2020.
2020 is Over... GOOD RIDDANCE
Happy new year! 2020 wasn't much different for me because I already worked from home, but I hope 2021 is better for everyone! I'm really looking forward to all the great games 2021 will have.
Happy New Year Nintendo Life Team! Thanks for all the reviews and articles. Xx
Happy New Year, guys! This site has probably one of the best and friendliest communities out there, and it's a joy to come here. Thank you all for that!
I'm not happy am afraid 2021 will be worse than 2020 a lot worse because United States will become a communist country very soon.
2021 shaping up to be even worse. Hopefully we at least get some info on Metroid Prime 4.
Happy New Year everyone!
@Benji80 just looking at some of the comment sections here, a get together would not end well lol. Happy new year.
Happy New Year everyone!! The best for all in this 2021. No such thing as console wars please!
@Milton_Burle,
To be honest it's been a lean year for first party Nintendo output, mostly down to the global pandemic, hopefully 2021 will be a bumper year for releases.
On a brighter note it does not look like it's slowed down Switch console sales all that much.
I am actually kinda hyped to hear if the Wario Land rumours are in fact true. I'd love that and a remake of the original Yoshi's Island.
Happy New Year everyone! Make it a great year... for vintage gaming!
