Re: Elminage Original Will Be Crawling Through Your 3DS Dungeon This Week

I guess you're replying to me, but based on your post, it sounds like you've never played a single 1st person dungeon crawler in your life. If you think the trailer is so terrible, then there's really no point in trying to explain to you what makes the genre so appealing because It doesn't look like the genre is for you, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't like/care for some genres either. What you said is basically what a 1st person dungeon crawler -is,- except for the gameplay part. The genre has plenty of gameplay, but I doubt anything I say is going to change your mind at all.

I also don't see what price has anything to do with it. The genre doesn't dictate how much a game should cost. You're probably one of those people who think SHMUPs and pinball games should cost no more than $5.

@Expa0 Did you check the link I posted? The official website does list this feature if you want any proof.

I find it strange people would pay $40 ($50+ in Canada) for an EO game, but don't want to pay half that for another game that IMO, is just as good as EO, if not better.

I'm rather disappointed at the people who inhabit Nintendo Life, dismissing a game because of 'terrible graphics' and whatever. I think the designs look great. The GameFAQs board had much better reception than here (the PSP version), and those boards are supposed to be terrible.

I think I may buy it after all, as I doubt the 3DS version is going to get much sales if this article is anything to go by. They'll want some support.

I am honestly surprised at the very low enthusiasm people are showing in the comments. This is a dungeon crawler, through and through, and is a better homage to Wizardry than the EO series. Fans of The Dark Spire especially should be excited for this game, although lots of people didn't bother with it too now that I recall. The fact that it's more like the classic games is precisely why I like it.

I guess people these days just want 'flashy' dungeon crawlers with colourful graphics and stuff. It's sad that people, if this article is any indication, don't care about anything outside of the EO series regarding this genre.

And people should Dark Spire a chance. People didn't want to try it because of the 'terrible graphics' and stuff, and the genre has never been about graphics or story. Only the gameplay matters.

@Highlar How can you 'always be console' if you just said you do some gaming on PC? The genre on consoles usually isn't as indepth as genre on PC so they're well worth a look. I loved SimCity on SNES but compared to the many sequels on PC, it's really, really, basic now, and the majority of the best city builders are old games so unless you have a really terrible PC, you should be able to run those.

SimCity will never be on VC because EA owns the IP.

I use it to upload some screenshots, but that's it. I guess I keep going to terrible communities because all my comments for my screenshots are either a) totally unrelated to the screenshot (ppl asking for my age, ppl asking for me to go to their page, etc, etc), and/or b) made by really young kids, based on their numerous typo-filled posts and the way they type.. I've only ever 'met' a total of 1 person who actually posted coherently and typed with proper spelling.

If Miiverse ever goes for good, I'm not going to miss it too much.

Weird to hear them say not many companies make non-violent games when such games (not farming; I mean general) have been all the rage on PC since 1989 when SimCity came out. It probably isn't the first game, but it sure was a huge success and helped paved the way for the simulation genre. The genre is largely non-violent where you run theme parks, zoos, businesses, etc, etc. In fact, the genre is still thriving today, although I don't think today's games are generally as good as the older titles.

I dunno about the console front, but non violent games are very profitable on PC.

Re: Netflix Renews Castlevania Series For A Second, Longer Season

@Tempestryke Really? I've never seen any in any of the games I've played. I've never played them all though, although if there were any, I may have forgotten as it's been a while since I've played.

Guys, I am not complaining that there IS swearing. There's a huge difference between swearing, and swearing excessively. The former is fine. The latter is annoying and IMO, rather immature.

Re: Netflix Renews Castlevania Series For A Second, Longer Season

I haven't seen it yet, but from everyone's comments, it doesn't seem like I'll enjoy it. Like other people have said here, swearing, gore, etc, should only be used when it's actually warranted. It's annoying when I watch a movie, and characters are swearing literally every other minute. That stuff turns me off. You don't need excessive swearing and/or gore to make something 'adult/mature.' It's too bad lots of people apparently believe it, and that's what they make. I'll just watch something else instead.

I'm pretty sure the Castlevania games had no swearing, so why put them in an animated show about Castlevania?

@macaron75 The remastered graphics in DoTT looks terrible IMO. It lost the charm the original graphics has. It's a good thing the game also included both versions. Give me the original any day.

@NEStalgia All I got from your post is "We should stifle creativity because 'retro' looking games are just people being cheap and/or lazy, even though it could have been a perfectly legit design decision to make their game that way." You know, maybe people like sprites and want to make a game with one, or maybe they liked the older games more and want to make a game that resembles the games they loved back in the day. It has nothing do with with people being cheap and/or lazy.
, and some of those games are better than 'modern-y' looking games. Why do devs that 'did this back in the day' get a free pass with their retro-looking games, while other devs are called cheap and lazy?

Re: 1995 Called, It Wants Its Official Star Fox 2 Box Art Back

@AhabSpampurse @impurekind I'm glad there are people who agree with me. Everywhere I go, there's always people who say Star Fox aged terribly and nobody would want to play it again. Makes me sad. I think it aged pretty well and it still looks as good as ever to me. The polygons are all nicely shaped and clean.

Star Fox (IMO) is easily still the best game in the entire series, with the best music (especially) and challenge. It's sad I'll never be able to play it on the 3DS though.

Getting to the subject, I think the 'official' box art doesn't look very good. Miyu's ears are way too big too for a lynx. Her in-game portrait looks much better with proportioned ears. Also, Peppy looks very angry which is uncharacteristic for him.

@MiraiMoon Many people may regard SF 64 as the best game in the series, but I sure don't agree. It may be a good game, but it has nothing on the original Star Fox in several areas. SF 64 IMO is the 2nd best game in the series though, so it's not as if I despise the game. It's just that aside from upgraded visuals (although I don't think Star Fox has terrible visuals at all), I think Star Fox does everything else better.

Re: Feature: The Full Story Behind Star Fox 2, Nintendo's Most Famous Cancellation

Not sure why people think Star Fox looks 'hideous' today. It may not have any textures, but the polygons are clean and the backgrounds are nice and bright and I don't see anything wrong with it unless you're some sort of graphics whore. It's still the best Star Fox game in the entire series and has one of the best soundtracks of all time.

It was a landmark game of its time, and I still love playing it today. IMO it aged well with its nice, clean look, and is superior to Star Fox 64. Man, I really wish I could play it on the 3DS.

You know what's really cool? Vector graphics, even if it's just made up of mostly straight lines.

All this hype over Star Fox 2. I never liked the game much but I guess lots of people are interested in playing it.

It sucks that the Super NES MINI gets Star Fox but nowhere else. I'd kill to be able to play it on my 3DS :/

@World I already have 350 coins from beating 2 stages so this isn't going to take long.

"My only question now would be if they have the EX stages after beating the game and QR Extra stages on the website."

I posted a link to the QR stages from the website. It's post #58. Didn't you see it?

It seems we're the only two fans in this thread. Sad! It needs more recognition!

@World What a coincidence. I was just about to 'talk' to you when I saw you had done it literally 50 seconds before me! I have the game so if you have any further questions I can answer them.

Good news! The awesome 'secret' BGM from Hawaii is back!! I am playing a stage now with it. I was disappointed this feature wasn't included in Narita and I wasn't expecting Osaka to have it.

Sadly the ability to make stages with the camera is locked, and you need 1000 hero coins to unlock it. That will be the first thing I'll unlock.

The All-Stars games have licenses from NA airlines? Well if Air Canada allows them to do so (Unless they don't follow copyright law like in China. I dunno if they do or not), then I don't see why they won't for NA localization. With so many airlines though I guess they don't think it's worse the hassle.

This is the 9th game I've purchased this month, and I MAY get Super Metroid too for an even 10. I've never bought so many games in a month before...Luckily 6 of those games were on sale.

@World I see what you mean. I hate it when genres that don't need a story gets a story added in for no reason at all. I too wouldn't get this game at all if all it had was story mode. The stages that be created and pics and whatnot gives the game awesome replayability so I'd be really upset if it was taken out. Luckily it didn't, and it's cool that I don't have to rely on QR codes this time.

I got my info from translating the entire official website so everything I said is accurate, and the translation is pretty good too.

I've actually been looking at the All Stars games. I'd like to try one of those too, but I guess they don't seem so keen to localize them for whatever reason.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th June (North America)

@World Oh I was just looking at the official website (translated into English this time) and there actually isn't much info on the operation mode, but I don't think it'd be much different than the stages you can make in the previous games.

From what the website says, it seems the story mode is there just to get new people to learn how to play. I guess it's a more fancy tutorial mode. I doubt I will touch it.

It looks like you are already aware of the game though. What makes it the least interesting game? It seems you just don't like story mode or whatever, but from what I've read it IS a localization of Kansai Sky Story. Did you know about Operation Mode and the other stuff besides Story Mode?

Apparently you can unlock a new perspective from inside a plane window. That sounds pretty cool.

I can't buy it until tonight so if you're actually going to get it, let me know how it is.

Oh, and the official website has QR codes for some special stages:

OMG never knew they were making more Air Traffic Controller games!! I hope it has a mode to make stages like the previous games to give it replayability. I already bought 8 games this month though...shouldn't be getting anything more...

UPdate: OMG it DID!!

@World YES! I went to the official website and YES!! The ability to create new stages is in the game, just like the previous games, and even better, you can create new stages by taking pictures with the camera AND by scanning QR codes!!! Man it's almost $30 where live though, but this series is awesome. This is a total surprise! I am not too fond of adding anime-looking people though, but it's the gameplay that counts anyway.

To answer your question, Operation Mode is basically like the mode in the other games.

Getting Farming Simulator 18. I've gotten the last 2 games on Vita, but decided to buy the latest one on 3DS so that I can do some farming on either handheld.

@MegaMari0 The number doesn't refer to how many there are. There hasn't been 18 Farming Simulator games.

You've spelt 'serpent' wrong.

I've also just broken Cannonball's everstone. Now to play the leveling game til 20. I thought tapping on a magikarp repeatedly would do something, but never tried it long enough apparently.

It's just a silly timewaster game. Honestly, what can you expect from a game that involves you training Magikarp to jump?
