Re: My Nintendo Updates with New Kirby and Star Fox Rewards

Fred13

I have 500 gold coins. I don't want any of those games enough to pay even half price for them. However, if they were free copies of the game instead of discounts, but cost 500 coins (instead of 30-100 coins for a discount) I would grab one of the following: Star Fox Command, Pandora's Tower, or Earthbound Beginnings.

@WiiLovePeace Did you end up buying this? You said you would eventually so I thought I'd check. It's half price right now so I came to read what everyone thought because I'm considering buying it.

@UmbreonsPapa I've actually thought about this. First of all, for some of their product (I'm looking at you Amiibo, NES Classic, and Fire Emblem Fates SE) when they see that it sold out within minutes of stores opening THEY COULD CONTINUE PRODUCING THEM UNTIL THEY AT LEAST SIT ON A SHELF FOR AN HOUR.
Another thing they could do is allow pre-orders to start early enough that they can use the pre-orders to help determine demand. If they had done that back in March of last year for the NES Classic then they could have at least guaranteed that my buddy's and I got one because we would have been willing to pay $60 in March. If they had announced the SNES Classic a few months ago and allowed unlimited pre-orders for a week and then made enough to fill each of those pre-orders and then made a little bit more then at least everyone that is dying to get one will.

Another thing they could do is in some cases they can offer alternatives. For example, I was never able to find an NES Classic. However, if they would allow me to download (or buy a cartridge) those 30 games onto my Wii U or Switch for the same $60 then suddenly I don't even want an NES Classic because I have them all on my current system and I don't need another HDMI port. Same with the SNES Classic if Nintendo offered me either a download or a cartridge to play those 21 games on my Switch for $80 then suddenly I am not bothered at all by the fact that I can't find an SNES Classic.

As for the Switch, first they could tell stores when they'll get shipments and how many they'll get. I want to get my wife a Switch for her birthday so that we can play Splatoon 2 together. If I could go to Best Buy and order one and have Best Buy just say ok you have one on order we expect you to be able to pick it up in 3 weeks at least then I can tell her sorry I couldn't get it here in time for your birthday, but you'll have it a week later.

The other thing they could do with the Switch is produce more. I know there's a supply shortage of the internal storage. They're making a profit on the system. They need to go to each of the manufacturers that they trust to make that internal storage and say we'll pay you $x more for a limited time if you will get us more parts faster. This will mean they break even on the console for awhile, but the real money maker is the games and everyone has to buy at least 1 game. If they produce an extra million systems across July and August then they'd probably sell 1.5 million extra games during July and August so even though those 1 million extra systems were break even propositions those 1.5 million extra games were extra profit. Nevermind keeping more fans happy.

Sorry I kind of ranted there. If you go look at my historical posts I'm a HUGE Nintendo homer, but on this one thing I've finally had it with them.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2017 - Summer Edition

@MisterKorman if you can trust VG Chartz (which I keep hearing you can't, but I figure they're probably at least in the ballpark) X and the original Wii disc both sold just short of 1 million. If you add in New 3DS copies then the original is closer to 1.5 million.

I'm hoping Xenoblade 2 is on par with the original and that it sales 5 million across the life of the Nintendo Switch. That would be awesome for this series to finally get some decent sales.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2017 - Summer Edition

Fred13

@BenAV Really?!? That's very surprising to hear. I will admit that are very different in some ways, but they are very similar in others so it's surprising to me that they could be the 1st and last place, but that's interesting.
For me Xenoblade Chronicles is my all time favorite game, but I also really like Xenoblade Chronicles X (a lot).

From what I've read Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be closer to Xenoblade Chronicles 1 which is exciting to me because I liked the first more. However, I really don't like the art style. I wish they would have stuck with the old look, but that certainly won't keep me from buying it (I already pre-ordered it)

@Zebetite
I actually agree with you
"This is the internet, anyone can make any claim" AGREE
"your industry credentials are meaningless without proof" AGREE
"that no sane person would post publicly." AGREE and I'm glad you understand why I didn't
"And frankly, with how very grumpy you're being on this matter, I'm not inclined to believe you." I am grumpy about this topic. Frankly I'm mostly a Nintendo fanboy, but on this topic they are driving me crazy

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

Fred13

@Grandpa_Pixel @Grandpa_Pixel Sure, you can ask that:
I couldn't find a copy of the Special Edition of Fire Emblem Fates, there were about 15 different Amiibo that I couldn't find. I couldn't get an NES Classic (they discontinued that KNOWING that there are millions that still want one when they could have just continued making them) I have a Switch only because I pre-ordered right after the reveal, but now my wife wants one and I can't find one for her. I have lots of friends that also haven't been able to find things. There are almost always shortages with the good Nintendo stuff

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

Fred13

@maceng @Zebetite I love how you just assume that I know nothing. I actually work in the semiconductor industry and I've done projects with Samsung, Qualcomm, Micron, TI, and many others and I can tell you for a fact that if Nintendo called up a few companies that make the storage they need and offered a higher price they would get it fairly quickly (maybe not overnight, but it's already been over 4 months)

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

Fred13

@Grandpa_Pixel If we're being honest, we know Nintendo is making a profit on each Switch they sell. They could easily offer the semiconductor companies more money for the components that they are short on and I'm certain they could get things moving again. Especially since the system does NOT come with a game so they become profitable again with the sale of the first game.

It's just that with Nintendo THERE ARE ALWAYS SHORTAGES! If this was a rare occurrence then I would be WAY more forgiving.

Re: Poll: Did the ARMS Global Testpunch Land a Knockout Blow?

Fred13

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I can see waiting for Mario and Xenoblade (Especially Xenoblade), but do you really expect a price drop on the Switch when they can't keep them on shelves?
I Guarantee there won't be a price drop until at least you can walk into a store on any given day and just pick one up.

Re: Get Ready for a Pokémon Direct on 6th June

Fred13

Will someone please help me understand why Nintendo/Game Freak insist on making their Pokemon announcements outside of E3?
Wouldn't it make more sense to put this 8 min video in as part of the Digital Presentation that we're going to get in only 1 week?
I'm assuming there's a good reason, but I certainly don't understand what it is and I would like to understand.
