Re: Soapbox: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

FlaviusFire

The 3DS is my first console, and also my first taste of video games in general, and I loved it. And still do. Unfortunately my circle pad broke, So I haven't been playing most of the great games on there recently, but I still like the system a lot.

May I also mention. The 3DS becomes even more interesting and powerful if you can mod it. I didn't dare to until recently, but when it was officially discontinued, I was like, "It's time." The biggest benefit is that you can rip games from cartridges and emulate them, and it's perfectly legal if you do it that way with your own games. There's also a number of very interesting tools you can install. It's a great way to breathe a lot of new life into an already great system.

Re: Microsoft Has A "Very Good Relationship With Nintendo" But Isn't Making Any Promises Moving Forward

FlaviusFire

I mean, I'm all for good relationships between big companies. But Nintendo kinda protects their ecosystem a whole lot, so I don't really see them sharing what Microsoft would want (i.e. titles), which is probably what the issue is. Nintendo's happy to run Microsoft games on the Switch, but isn't eager to share theirs the other way. And I don't really blame them.

Re: Switch Has Now Been The Best-Selling Console In The US For 22 Consecutive Months - That's A New Record

FlaviusFire

Everyone else has made great points, so I'll keep it simple. Nintendo is simply good at what they do. Sure, only about every other console of theirs is a hit for the most part, but even then their games have always been among the highest of quality. They're good at being different and making video game that people WANT to play. They continue to have my full support going forward. 😄

Re: New Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Trailer Shows Breath Of The Wild's Robbie and Purah

FlaviusFire

@Ghostchip - As a fellow huge Kirby fan, I was kinda disappointed by Star Allies. I beat the whole story mode in the period of probably less than 6 hours, and that's with some generous rounding. The fact that you can make three helpers makes it incredibly easy to just storm through the levels, and it's impossible to finish them without making helpers... As in like they require you to make them to progress. It wasn't bad but I enjoyed Triple Deluxe and Super Star Ultra far better.

My point being, I think this would be a better purchase.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

As I said when this was first announced: Firstly, "WTH", secondly, "Leave it to Nintendo to do something like this. Only Nintendo..." They really do love their gimics

It looks fun and even perhaps cool, but I predict this will be a fail because of the price. I'm not paying $100 for an RC car, as much as I love Mario Kart.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, A New Zelda Set 100 Years Before Breath Of The Wild

FlaviusFire

Okay, so I was sitting there doing school work and one of my friends linked me the YouTube video for the trailer. I'm like, "Oh, that looks interesting! It's obviously just some DLC for Hyrule Warriors on the Switch." And I thought it looked cool, but as I had the 3DS version and bought all the DLC for it, I never intended to buy Hyrule Warriors definitive edition, and although this looked cool, it wasn't enough to sway me.

Then, out of pure curiosity, I decided to watch the 6-minute full announcement as it was auto-suggested below. And that was when I got excited, because that video explains that this is a fully Nintendo-involved, almost definitely canon game. Hyrule Warriors gameplay-wise, but much more story involved than the original. And not only that, but its own separate title. And that was what convinced me.

Will try to get this on release if I can. Very much stoked to play it.

@russell-marlow - I mean, there's no way to 100% tell for sure beforehand, but it looks to me as though (and if you listen to what they said carefully in the full announcement trailer, the six minute one) The story of howt this came about is from them wanting to tell the story of what happens before Breath of the Wild, and realizing that it would fit the Warriors gameplay formula pretty well. So expect Warriors gameplay, but considering how much new cutscene clips there were in the trailer I'm guessing that they added a lot a lot of story to this.

Just my take on it.

Re: Nintendo Announces Super Mario Remasters And Much More In Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct

FlaviusFire

I'ma give my thoughts on all this real quick.

1st off, liked the direct. Was a huge surprise to get home to.

The All-Stars looks cool, although as has been said, I wish Galaxy 2 was in it. Maybe they'll add it as DLC too. And I'm fairly sure the limited release is physical only, there's no reason whatsoever they'd limit it digitally. I could be wrong tho, only watched the Direct once.

I loved 3D Land a lot and have been absolutely dying to play 3D World. I am in all honesty more excited for it than anything announced in the whole Direct. Plus a mysterious expansion...

Lastly, leave it to Nintendo to come up with something as quirky as that Mario Kart AR game. Strikes me as one of their products that looks iffy but also surprisingly fun. It's the exact sort of thing that Nintendo and only Nintendo would ever try.

So I'm happy about all this! It was an awesome announcement. In conclusion I'm definitely buying 3D World and maybe the All-Stars as well. Have yet to play Sunshine and Galaxy, so.

Thx Nintendo!

Re: Super Mario 3D World On Switch Is A Lot Faster Than The Wii U Original

FlaviusFire

I have wanted to play Super Mario 3D World for SO LONG, so I was arguably more excited for that than I was for the All-Stars. I loved Super Mario 3D Land (one of the three Mario games I've fully maxxed-out) and have been absolutely dying to play this next one. This article is interesting, I didn't notice, but am not against it being faster. Is an interesting change to say the least.

And they said they have more to announce about it too, if you read the full description on their store page, so am even more hyped.

Re: Yep, The Switch Has Now Outsold The NES

FlaviusFire

That's cool, but most products out-do past products with time. I doubt anybody is arguing that the Switch is better than the NES.

Nintendo has got about every other console to be a hit, and the Switch is one of their biggest ones yet. With the exception of perhaps the Wii, I would say it's more unique than any of the others as well.

As long as they can continue a supply of great software, it will continue to grow. I'm looking forward to seeing it do so.

Re: Mojang's Latest Update For Minecraft Adds Ultra Tough Piglin Brute Mobs

FlaviusFire

@Moonlessky - Being rather experienced in how the game works, I never thought it might seem intimidating to outsiders. I don't think it's that complex to start, give it a try.

@Bermanator - Mojang's not in fact ignoreing the community and not fixing bugs. I haven't heard of the one you're referring to but rest assured they'll get to it eventually if they're not already working on it. They're not the kind to slouch off on these.

@Jokerwolf - I suppose it could look like that if you don't play it, but they're actually inspired by another mob that's been in the game for a while, as in from the early versions a while. I wouldn't be surprised to hear they took inspiration, but I think in this case they're just expanding off of something they already had.

Also, this is my first comment on here! Glad to now be a part of this community!
