Re: Mortal Kombat 1's December Update Is Out Today, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

FlashFan207

@XandertheWise That sounds awesome! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but even before the update I’ve been enjoying the game, despite its flaws. It was a very sizeable update and I admit to getting distracted with Arkham City and now Indigo disk lately. Well, time to get my butt kicked online again!

Edit: After playing for a bit it looks like there has been a huge improvement to loading times across all aspects of the game, in and out of fights, and even while negotiating the menus and kustomization screens.

Re: Review: Batman: Arkham Trilogy (Switch) - Two Solid Ports, One Technical Disaster

FlashFan207

Having logged about 20 hours into Arkham Knight so far I’ve come to feel that calling it “unplayable” is simply not true, and saying it’s a technical disaster is perhaps a little unfair.

I loved both Asylum and City when they were originally released, but missed out on Knight, so this trilogy release was a no-brainer for me. Maybe I should have replayed through the first two before starting on Knight to allow some more time for the developers to patch it, but I just couldn’t wait. Save for the odd slowdown or stutter while driving the Batmobile, and some intermittent frame drops while gliding through the sky, the game actually runs well enough for me to enjoy the play mechanics.

However, even at this early stage in the game, it is undoubtedly my least favourite of the trilogy based on the scatter-brained delivery of the plot and a story that does not quite have me entranced yet, as the first two did immediately for me. All in all, I think this review got it about right: two great remakes of old games and a bit of a sloppy port of game that was already sort of mediocre to begin with. It’s worth your time though, I feel.

Re: Ed Boon Might Already Be Teasing Another Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Character

@Truegamer79 Whoah, honestly if you haven’t read the Invincible comic before, then Prime has a very well done animated series you truly have to check out. The comic was a favourite of mine for years, and the series actually does it justice. My wife isn’t necessarily the biggest superhero fan, but she happily sat through the series and appreciated the fresh take on the genre (if you value a non-fanboy’s review).

Re: Pokémon GO Receives New iPhone Exclusive Features

@McHaggis
Wow, yeah. Even though I may disagree with your smartphone choice, I still found your post to be fair and well thought-out. Of course there are many things that an iPhone can do that Android can’t like Handoff, AirDrop, iMessage, 3D Touch, and being prioritized by app developers to name my favourites.There are even several file sharing apps that support drag and drop, along with the native Files app.

But there are still those that say there is a significant difference in the performance of any of the main flagship smartphones, and I feel that is ignorant. There’s very little difference now and it comes down to personal preference, like you said. I always find it interesting to hear different stories as to why someone switched from one platform to the other because there’s a lot of parity in the industry now.

So I applaud your respectful assessment and keeping things polite. I have been dragged into some very pointless debates because many people spread some pretty silly misinformation. But I guess folks just feel passionate. Can’t blame them, really. We spend a lot of our time with our smartphones.

I believe that in large part that sort of thing is due to the fact that, from a developers’ perspective, Apple is much easier to program for than Android. For instance there’s what, maybe two dozen Apple products they have to keep in mind when developing an app? A few iPhones and iPads, and if they want to get really crazy an Apple Watch app too. But there’s literally thousands of different devices running Android.

Re: DLC Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - The Champions' Ballad + Expansion Pass

FlashFan207

“We had ideas in our head (pre-release) of playing as the Champions, or perhaps continuing the story as hinted by the 'true' ending. In hindsight some may say those were unrealistic hopes, but they wouldn't have been unprecedented additions.”

This is exactly how I felt too and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I was maybe a little bit disappointed. But still enjoyed all the DLC to its fullest and would say it was money well spent.

Re: Spring Man Triumphs in First ARMS Party Clash

FlashFan207

Aaaggghhhhh!!! I totally forgot about this! I’ve been playing DOOM, Rocket League and Mario Odyssey so much. Not too mention I just picked up Sonic Forces and Gear Club. Dang! I was really an avid ARMS player at the beginning and I played a bit when the Misango update was released. Oh well... I may have missed the event, but I’m still game to play it again!

Re: ARMS Version 3.2 Is Now Live

@16bitdave
Get some play time in with ARMS before Odyssey drops! I’m in the exact same boat as you. Splatoon 2 is so good, but I revisited ARMS today and had a blast.

@JaxonH
Lol, okay cool, let me know which team you’re planning on joining and I’ll just pick the other one, yeah?

I’m kidding, but honestly, why don’t people just simply pick the team they like better? Makes it more satisfying to fight for something you believe in, doesn’t it? I mean, I genuinely feel that flight is a cooler superpower than invisibility and vampires are cooler than werewolves. And it’s fun to splat people who disagree with me!

That’s so true! Aquaman is so badass and people just say, “Oh he just talks to fish,” or whatever. Even that on its own is incredibly powerful considering the sheer amount of aquatic life on the planet. But the super strength, invulnerability, super swim speed and Atlantean tech, the guy deserves to be mentioned in the same conversation as the other Justice League heavy hitters. Obviously I’m a Flash fan, but he is the second character I am most interested to see portrayed in the movie. Both very excited and apprehensive.
