Another weekend is almost upon us, and so it is time to explore the latest weapon addition to Splatoon 2: the Luna Blaster Neo.
Featuring a cute, round-edged, space-like design that feels like it has come straight from the Pikmin series, the Luna Blaster Neo is making its comeback from the original Splatoon. It will come with the Ink Mine as its sub weapon, and the Suction-Bomb Launcher as its special, changing things up from the previous game which saw the Splat Bomb and Bomb Rush in their place.
As always, the update is set to kick in at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern today (23rd February), which means the early hours of the morning (2am UK / 3am CET) in Europe.
Are you still strutting your stuff on the splattlefield? Let us know if you'll be giving this one a whirl in the comments.

Never been a fan of Blasters for whatever reason, just not my style I guess. Super annoying to play against though.
@BenAV They’re great for killing but horrible at covering ground. I won’t use them in Turf War, but they’re awesome in some kinds of ranked battles and amazing in Salmon Run.
@thesilverbrick Yeah, I don't mind them in Salmon Run. Never really have to worry about running out of ink with them.
Is the set better than the standard Luna Blaster’s? I’m genuinely curious about what people think.
@NinjaAceTrainer I prefer both Sub and Special on the regular Luna Blaster. If I was going to use one, that's the one I'd go with personally.
@BenAV Yeah, thought so. Ink mines are a bit too passive for the Luna Blaster.
@NinjaAceTrainer Yeah, I think they're more useful on something like a Charger where you can use them to cover your blind spots. Splat Bombs seem a lot more useful to help make up for its short range.
Hate ink mines, love the suction bomb launcher though.
Still haven't found a weapon in splatoon 2 where I like all of the gun, sub, and special. Kinda amazing really.
I haven't tried clam blitz or whatever it's called yet. Is it a fun mode?
Yes, it is fun!
Clam Blitz is my new favourite mode, after Rainmaker was my favourite for 28 months!

@coolaggro E-Liter for me. Ink mines for my blind spot and ink storm to flush people out of hiding.
@Kalmaro Ideally, I would have a splattershot with a splat bomb and a tenta missiles. I'd take an ink storm, splashdown, ink armor, or bubble blower too.
When these new weapons get added, what level are they? I’m only around level 15 and whenever new weapons get added I never get a look-in!
I prefer the regular's kit. Ink mines really hold this one back imo.
@coolaggro
Lol, me too! The Dualie Squelchers are the closest for me, but I pretty much never use the sub in that set. Waiting for a Dualie Squelcher Custom/Neo set to launch.

Thanks guys! I am going to try it.
I always praised Nintendo for the amount of extra and free content they put in that game, but I wish they could focus on other, important changes. Since I already gave up on built in voice chat, here’s my personal “quick” wish list of changes. I wish we could have prebuilt, custom gear sets and could change that gear in the middle of the match to adjust to current situation. I wish the match making was more balanced, which is kind of ok up until level 20, where past that, all sorts of unexplained matching can happen. I don’t know how their algorithm works, but I guess I became an expert in predicting match results, by taking a quick look at the players and their weapons, before the game even begins. I know that level itself doesn’t tell the whole story, but if you’re level 20 and play against levels 90+, you essentially play with people who live and breathe Splatoon. And yes, if you look at the results table, it’s pretty clear that shifting one player around would make all the difference, at least mathematically, so it can be done. I wish, players who use classic controls had choice whether they want to play against other classics or mixed with gyro users, or at least have the courtesy to indicate who’s using what (like in MK8). It’s nothing major, but I wish there was a separate mode where people could vote for the map, instead of being forced to map rotation. And finally, for the love of God, give me an option to disable Marina and Pearl announcements. I’m pretty sure all of that annoying chat could be summarised in one splash screen.
