Re: Zelda-Style Z-Targeting Was Apparently "Too Hardcore" For LEGO Fortnite

FatBeverly

For those who don't understand, Lego Fortnite is not Fortnite. It is a survival/crafting/co-op game that largely focuses on you building and developing a settlement and recruiting NPC's to be your villagers. It exists as a game mode within Fortnite's dashboard/hub/whatever, but is it's own thing.

You build inside of a large procedurally generated world and can share that world with other players if you invite them. If you want those players to be able to access and effect your world even when you aren't playing you can make them a "keyholder" in which case it functions like a dedicated server for just you and the keyholders.

It is essentially a Lego themed Valheim/Animal Crossing.

No thanks, that would offer absolutely nothing to a potential game unless there is some sort of couch co-op component and they need two characters to make the story work (though they've proven with the fantastic Four Swords and Triforce Heroes games that we don't even need that). She was controllable in Spirit Tracks also, so this isn't even a new or novel thing.

Re: Zelda Boss Says A "Direct Sequel" To Tears Of The Kingdom Is Unlikely

They should spin-off the physics/construction/sandbox thing into it's own separate franchise. I'd love a top-down Zelda again with dungeons and challenging puzzles. Since the developers don't care about a "timeline" than neither do I, just give us a fun experience. The story and "lore" are inconsequential. It's that simple.

Re: Fae Farm's First Major Content Update Lands In December, And It's Free

I bounced off of this game pretty quickly, and I'm pretty much the target demographic for this kind of thing. It was just boring and ultimately didn't feel satisfying in any particular aspect (I found the Nintendo Life review to be way off). This update will not be bringing me back and the positivity towards this title from this site feels disingenuous.

Re: Reaction: What's Your Gut Feeling On The Zelda Movie News?

FatBeverly

Sure, why not. Just keep it under two hours. The "story" within the Zelda games has always been paper-thin and just present enough to somewhat string together a bunch of puzzle and combat mechanics. That simplicity is part of the beauty of the franchise.

To try and turn this into an epic, lore-driven drama (using the term lore is a stretch in the case of Zelda) would be silly, and that simply isn't Zelda. Keep it short, keep it fun, and keep it weird.

@Daniel36 All farming games have a day timer because of night and day mechanics. It doesn't matter how many days it takes to do something, you're never punished for not optimizing every second.

Winds of Anthos is fantastic, its definitely a hidden gem that has been overlooked by all gaming outlets. Which is fair since the Harvest Moon series devolved into shovelware for almost a decade after the split with Natsume. Winds of Anthos feels like a masterpiece they secretly/accidentally cooked up. I anticipate a lot of "Harvest Moon: WoA Is Overlooked Masterpiece" articles eventually.

A day lasts about 20 minutes, give or take how much time you spend in the menus.
