I don't have a Switch, but when I'll have it, I'll probably buy ARMS right away. It looks like pure fun. It's worth to get a Switch just for games announced for this year (Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Super Mario Odyssey).
@Steven_the_2nd Yeah, I know, but i saw them on youtube already. But, hm, this is a chance to buy this game again on Switch (I played on Wii U), with all DLCs from season pass and sink again for 150 hours or so in winter
I'm somewhat concerned. Switch presentation and launch of Super Mario Run without microtransactions - share price drops. Launches of Pokemon GO and FE Heroes, games with microtransactions - share price rises. Shareholders are giving Nintendo a clear signal and I don't like what this signal is meaning.
As suggested by Damien, I think this is Miyamoto's case. He has always wanted to make game which will use unique Wii U features, but failed - Star Fox Zero could easily launch without motion controls in my opinion. So, yeah, Shigeru ambitions.
Oh my god, talking with friend about Xenoblade and then I entered Nintendo Life and spotted this news. Seen this awesome art before, but love your timing guys
Chrono Trigger-like pixel RPG in Xenoblade world - would play!
Loved first one (it was in European Humble Bundle in April if I remember correctly). Never was a big fan of Sonic series, but Freedom Planet was great and I'm hoping for Switch version of sequel.
Nice article Thomas! Not because I completely agree with what you have written (but I agree), but it's well written.
I'm not in this "graphic doesn't matter" camp, but I also agree that power isn't the key to Switch success. We all know how more powerful PSP and Vita were compared to DS and 3DS respectively. And we all know how this battle ended.
Most important are:
clear concept, which Switch has: you can plan some nice games in front of TV and on the go. What else should customer know?
good games, which... we don't know whether they will be, but Nintendo accustomed us to high-quality titles. I hope that Switch will be the only Nintendo console for the next few years. Imagine machine with 3DS and Wii U games combined - it's massive amount of quality games! And now we could also have some other third-party support from studios which never collaborated with Ninny.
I hope their next game will be tactical RPG, but different from Heist, more traditional, like Final fantasy Tactics. But of course I love Heist, Top 3 eShop game.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Whole this day lacks interesting news and Thomas wanted this editorial to be the same
2D, because, sadly, 3D Wii U platformers besides 3D World don't exist. And even 3D World isn't 64 or Galaxy type of game.
Concentrating on the games on the list: I love Yoshi's Woolly World, never finished Tropical Freeze (this bear beats me), never played Mario Bros. U, cause I'm not a 2D Mario games fan at all. I have problem with Rayman - it's beatiful, I know it's fine game, but I don't find it interesting at all to play...
I don't know if 5 games from each category is good criteria of selection. Boxed games are, presumably, more recognizable, they are just bigger, more refined titles. Maybe 7+3 (boxed and eShop respectively) would be better choice?
Nevertheless, my favourite games are in. Voted for Pokemon Sun and Moon, Dragon Quest VII and SteamWorld Heist. I would choose Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but Generations, though I played this game for something about 200 hours, isn't that good. So, yeah, time spended wasn't most important here
One of the best Wii U games, but compared to the first Xenoblade, it's doing a lot of things worse. Chronicles on Wii have plenty interesting characters, in X we have like... one? I've got Elma on my mind of course. Protagonist is one of the poorest in jRPG genre, he/she even says nothing, only nods - who pushed this idea after Shulk in predecessor?
Story is just... ok. First Xeno have brilliant, emotional plot with many twists (even if they were predictible sometimes, they were just in the right place), which kept me playing and playing.
I also think that game became weaker after getting Skells. Yep, controversial opinion, but exploration on foot was more interesting, world seemed bigger and more dangerous. I also find combat system too complicated, Overdrive was just a mess compared to Chain Link, especially during mechs battles.
Summarizing, Xeno X took too many elements from MMO games, and I'm not fan of this type of games. I can forgive a lot when I get addictive story (and i forgave a lot of first Xeno because of this), which this game, sadly, did not have, partially because of too many additional elements, mechanics etc., which distracted me from the main story. But first Xeno is presumably best game I've played in all my life, so I'm extremeley subcjective here

@Moon It's something about £5,50, so rather cheap for a Nintendo game.

"It's pretty hard to get lost this time around, as NPCs are a lot more helpful and you can always ask a woman in the Bathhouse where to go next."
I will try this in real life.
Played all previous games in series, loved it, bought Half-Genie Hero too of course. I will spend my Christmas with this purple-haired half-genie

Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Retail Edition Heading to Wii U on 27th December
XSEED, so no retail in Europe I assume? Ok, i will pick digital, don't want to wait for retail like I waited for Gunvolt Pack (which didn't happen).
Re: Gallery: Feast Your Eyes on a Whole Lot of Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Screens
@Bobb Yes, you can import your save from Generations. It was shown in Japanese Direct, but probably nearly no one noticed because, well, Japanese.
Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Arrives on Wii U on 20th December
@Pazuzu666 What? Some people just like physical releases. Maybe they're collectors, maybe they're selling completed games to save money (like me).

Re: Video: Catch Up With the Latest Story Trailer for Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
I really enjoyed playing VII and can't wait for this. My most anticipated game of 2017 except Breath of the Wild.
