Splatoon was a major success for Nintendo in 2015, generating significant buzz and establishing the IP as one that has a key role to play in the future. The gameplay is terrific, of course, but part of the appeal is also found in the hugely colourful environments and characters.
Those that love the designs in Splatoon are now in luck, as a hardback book previously released in Japan is now coming to the West in 2017.
Dark Horse is publishing, following up previous high-profile collaborations with Nintendo; it's pitching the book as a premium hardback, just like previous releases in the partnership.
Containing an "inkredible" 320 pages of artwork, including 2D and 3D illustrations of characters, maps, concept art, weapon and gear design, storyboards, sketches, hand-drawn comics, and more, The Art of Splatoon is sure to please Inklings and humanoids alike.
It's due out on 13th June in North America and Europe, with pre-orders already available on Amazon UK and Amazon US, for example, with prices of £32.33 and £39.99 respectively.

I'm gonna buy this for sure
What about the Zelda books in the UK?
I was skeptical until I saw 320 pages. Artbooks usually are nice books on my coffee table so I expect to buy one.
Preordered it yesterday!
Tempting... very tempting.
Yay! I have to get this!
Pre-ordered. Splatoon has some cracking art.
10/10 book. I have the Japanese book (as well as the soundtrack). Only things missing are the newer splatfest shirt art since the Japanese book came after the first couple competitions and there should be more art of the stages. Aside from that, it fully covers all characters, clothes, weapons, etc. It has some comic strips too.

Just a little error I noticed
Aw man... I guess I have to buy this. ^^
I got this imported when it first came out. Great art book.
I'm big fan of this game and gonna import this book, but I'll wait. June 2017 is still faaar away. Money is also far away from me
Wasn't aware the United States switched to the Sterling
Colour me interested!
Someone should have been fired for missing out on the punny title "Splartoon".
At last! Just pre-ordered
Now if only they'd release art books for series like Pikmin, DK and Metroid. Well, for all their games really.
In time for a Switch port/sequel maybe? Hmmm....
Not a Splatoon fan but the art style ( No outline Vector art) looks very interesting. I should learn how to design with that style.
Great. After I bought the Japanese version.
In any case, I wasn't actually as impressed by the book as I expected. I think this is one case where the design work was enhanced by the conversion to 3D in-game graphics.
Preordered. Thanks, Tom!
I have the Japanese Softcover version of this - it's totally Splat-tastic!
Sweet, I hope more stuff like this is localized in English. What are the odds they'd bring over the Art of Mira book? I really, really, really want that one in English so I can read all the passages and notes about the concepts. I guess low odds since the first Xenoblade's art book was never localized, either...
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS
