I feel increasingly underwhelmed by this. I mean, the design is great, and full of that special Nintendo charm. But how long will the fun last, say if you're more than 9 years old? Are there any rides besides Karts and that Yoshi-themed one? Or are we just supposed to punch things, and touch them with our smart wristband?
Can't understand why they wouldn't want to keep selling the 3D All-stars package indefinitely though. Sure, they will have massive sales during that time, but I still reckon they could have sold more if they didn't make it a limited time offer.
Hold it now. Great game, but how many iterations do we really need? Personally I'm good with the Konami anniversary collection and the NES port that's available through switch online.
I'm most excited about the opportunity to replay Galaxy, anywhere, but Sunshine with improved controls wouldn't be bad, either. Or 64, remastered, for that matter.
I love this game! Yesterday the solution to one of the levels suddenly occurred to me at work. I love the feeling when my brain is processing a problem at the back of my mind while I'm thinking about other stuff and then comes up with the answer almost subconsciously. The last time that happened was with the original Lemmings, I think. I literally solved a Lemmings level while asleep.
@fafonio as far as preservation goes, I think the 8 and 16 bit eras are probably well covered by now. I'm more worried about present day games. How do we make sure that our grandchildren get to play games that require gigabytes upon gigabytes of patches in order to run? Will they get to play the Last of Us and Days Gone, for instance?
I guess I'll never fully understand this sort of thing. To me it's always a bit sad when people buy things that they really love, but can't use them without rendering them worthless. But then again, maybe ownership of flawless items is in itself a greater joy to these people than actually using them.
@tendonerd If you were trying to say that the Switch is just a big touch screen, I can't agree. I hardly ever touch the screen while playing games, and I use the dock even more rarely. So, what did you mean?
I'm tempted, but it feels a bit pricey? Still, it will definitely get on my watch-list. Maybe it will be on sale some day? Still have Skyrim, Days Gone and Red Dead Redemption 2 on my backlog though and right now all I play is Zelda : A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening so I don't have time for this at the moment.
While they're at it, they should sue the companies that sell Retropie-based consoles bundled with 20k game roms, among them large parts of Nintendo's retro libraries. The asking price tag is too high for just the hardware, so they're literally selling illegal roms.
I'm super happy with my Switch, but I really thought it would be the ultimate means to gather all Nintendo's classic games and more wherever I go. As third party content is concerned the train has pretty much left the station with others than Nintendo cashing in on their own games. They still have the opportunity to make their own switch online service into an amazing one stop shop for all things classic Nintendo and I still hope against hope that they will. I'd much rather have N64, GC and Wii games for the switch (online) than in the form of new mini, consoles which frankly I can't be bothered to clutter up my home with. Please, make the switch the only retro console I'll ever need. Pretty please?
The decision not to include Virtual console on a system so perfectly suited for it is still beyond me. Don't you understand, Nintendo? I'd buy many of your games AGAIN given the chance, if you're not willing to include them in switch online for a monthly fee.
Didn't really think I'd do this, but I just bought Doom for switch. And I'm not really that nostalgic about it, I can't remember playing more than a few stages back in the day. I guess the hype got the better of me, but I kind of look forward to playing it again now.
I just can't get past the blocky look of these games. Time really hasn't been kind to them. It amazes me a little that so many people seem to be excited about playing them again.

Re: Konami Shmup Thunder Cross Joins The Arcade Archives This Week
Oops, nearly didn't realize this is part of the anniversary collection I've got already. I'll keep my money, then.

Re: Nintendo Says It Will Continue To Increase The Appeal Of The Switch Online Service
They should realize they don't have years to make the service great. Unless they plan to keep the same content available on their next console?
Re: Rumours About Pikmin 3 Coming To Nintendo Switch Intensify
If it does, I will only need the rest of the Wii U Mario titles on the switch so that I can retire my Wii U.
Re: Hamster Is Adding A Handful Of Data East Classics To The Arcade Archives
The only DE game I have any nostalgic feelings towards is Express Raider. I would probably buy that.
Re: Super Mario 35th Anniversary Rumours Intensify
Just imagine if they remastered 64 with the Oddyssey-engine so that all of it looked like mushroom kingdom does there!

I've wanted All Stars 2 since, like, forever. Here, take my money, Nintendo!

Re: LEGO Super Mario Officially Unveiled, Features Interactive Mario And Fan-Favourite Characters
Dunno... Lego is more fun building things and Mario is more fun as games.
Re: Mario Is Number One In This Poll About Most Wanted Live-Action Video Game Movies
Live action? What would Mario be doing in it? Rescue Peach? Damsel in distress feels SO 2020, doesn't it?
The games don't need much in terms of plot. Movies do. Leave Mario alone, please.
Re: Review: Super Mario Maker 2 - The Last 2D Mario Game You'll Ever Need
