I beat Final Fantasy: Rebirth and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals last week.
So I'm going to be starting some new games. One is an indie game called the Book Walker, and the other is Sackboy's Big Adventure.
I also think I will start playing the second game in Another Code: Recollection. I beat the first a few days after launch but never got around to the second.
Final Fantasy XVI (Steam)
Valheim (Steam)
Mario and Luigi: Brothership (Switch)
UFO 50 (Steam)
Really liking M+L: Brothership, but I can already tell it's going to overstay its welcome. That map is huge, and the dialog really doesn't hold a candle to the old M+L games.
I do really like the ship mechanic though, and the fighting is really well done (even if it does take forever to load in, then use a bunch of brother moves, etc.). I feel like they could have streamlined the animations like they do in later Final Fantasy games after the first showing of a move.
I've been playing FANTASIAN (yes, it's spelled with all caps for some reason) on Apple Arcade. It's really fun, and it's coming to switch later this year.
I've also jumped into a bit of Lords of the Fallen (2023) on Steam. It's a lot like Dark Souls but I find it a bit easier to deal with. I liked Dark Souls, but the older I get the less patience I have for those sorts of games.
I did try and download CrossCode on steam, but for some reason the servers won't let me download that particular game. So I bought it on Switch and am refunding it on Steam.
I tend to get any physical Indies on Switch and keep my digital collection on Steam, so this is slightly frustrating.
I ended up getting Tears of the Kingdom for a really good deal. I liked BoTW but wasn't as crazy as everyone else so I held off on it.
I shouldn't have, I love Tears. I really like the new abilities better than the ones in BoTW. It seems almost like minecraft lite sometimes like when I can build a bridge or something.
I also think the story is way better. I'm still not crazy about the combat though. Still, I'm really enjoying it and going to focus on that this weekend.
Looks good. But majorly disappointing that it runs worse than the original.
Like it or not Nintendo is competing with emulation, and I would hope they'd focus on getting the performance at least on par with the GameCube to make it the best possible version to play without a doubt. The performance issues make it debatable for some.
I just finished Horizon: Zero Dawn on Steam. What a great game. The combat was fun, and the outfits all the characters wear are the best part (weird but true).
I'm going to start Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth tomorrow, but I'll also be playing F Zero 99 and Tetris Effect (both on Switch).
Be careful buying Pillars of Eternity on Switch. The load times are bad on PC, but almost unbearable on Switch. There are many mechanics that just do not work on the Switch build.
I'm always a bit baffled by Switch players that recommend it on this console, as in my mind it's one of the weaker ports on the system and almost unplayable.
It's a good free update. I like how they are adding features from New Leaf in here like the island (even if it does seem stripped down) and ordinances.
I do wish they had simple minigames to play with visitors. Any one remember the minigames on old DS mario games? Those kind of multiplayer games to play with villagers and other players visiting would be so much fun.
Honesty it's really expensive and a testament to how out of touch Nintendo is when it comes to their online offerings.
I can't speak for everyone, but what I would like is a more stable online service, with voice chat, text chat, and some sort of social media lite interface to share screenshots with friends. It doesn't have to even be that fancy.
To play retro games, I want the virtual console to pick and choose what I want to play. And it's just ridiculous that games don't transfer over from previous virtual consoles. I have very old games on my 360 account that still work great on my Series S.
I don't think most people want to subscribe to retro games they've definitely already bought before.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (2nd August)
I just finished THPS 3 and 4 remake (Steam). It was a super fun experience.
This weekend I would like to devote some time to Death Stranding 2 (PS5) and Donkey Kong Bonanza (S2).
The only problem is I can't stop playing knnockout tours in Mario Kart World (S2).
Have a good weekend all!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)
I finished Lords of the Fallen (2023, Steam). It was a really underrated game IMO.
I gave up on Mario and Luigi: Brothership (Switch). I like the game it just goes on too long. I'm going to pick it up again later.
I'm pretty far into Final Fantasy XVI (Steam). Probably my favorite Final Fantasy game since 12 (Playstation 2).

Re: Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Player Uses Glitch To Top Donkey Kong Leaderboard
I was kind of wondering what was up with that.
If they were glitches in the original I'm fine with them being in there. Seeing as I'm not good enough to compete anyways haha.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th May)
@deecas not a bad one at all to start with. One of my favorite in the series.
Re: Resident Evil 6 Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies On Nintendo Switch
I liked the game. It's not good. But it is fun.

Digital Eclipse is so cool.

Great game on PC though.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas 2023 Edition)
I played the demo of Another Code: Recollection and I'm quite excited for that to release.
I also played some of the Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 10th)
I'm going to be playing Disgaea 6 on the switch. I'll likely jump into some towers on Mortal Kombat 11 as well because I'm addicted.
I'll also be returning to Animal Crossing and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the GameCube.
Re: Cyber Shadow Only Used A Quarter Of Its Written Story and Lore
It's a good game. No Shovel Knight though.
Tough as nails, and reminds me of Ninja Gaiden
Re: Capcom's Resident Evil Games For Switch And 3DS Are Currently On Sale (North America)
I'm starting to wonder if RE8 will make it to the cloud gaming service on Switch like Control.
These came on sale in tandem with the RE8 announcement trailer, and I'm pretty sure RE7 came to a similar service in Japan.
I hope so, I'd like to play it.
Re: Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Is Coming To Switch With DLC Included
Yeah, I was hoping this would happen soon.
I played a bit on PC, but never got too far. I'm hoping having it portably will help me. I did like the game.
Re: You Can Talk To The Dead Via Your Game Boy In Indie Horror Sally Face, Launching On Switch Next Week
Yes, I think I will now.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 9th)
Hyrule Warriors
Kentucky Route 0

I keep playing Super One More Jump that I grabbed for 35 cents when I mean to be playing other things.

Re: Review: Dicey Dungeons - A Raucous Roguelike Adventure Which Everyone Should Try
I might have to get this. It reminds me somewhat of Slay the Spire. I enjoyed that game, but it was a little bit to hard for my tastes.
