Is a minor, idiotic petition with barely even 200 signatures clocked really what passes off as news-worthy nowadays? Anyone want to put down a bet on how many more pointless articles are going to be written just to milk the Pokémon controversy?
@BenAV @BarefootBowser I have absolutely no idea. I’ve looked online for other people with the same issue, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen someone mention this.
@BarefootBowser @BenAV Coincidentally I happen to be having the same issue with my R button. I started noticing the issue ~1 year back with the button only occasionally recognizing my inputs. It seems like the more I use it, the worse it gets (which seems obvious) but I’ve also had it operate without issue for about a week after leaving the Joy-Con untouched for a while. For the record, the button still works fine (it presses down) and when I opened the controller up to replace the stick, the spring seemed to be in the right place.
@LOZ_Master95 Have you found a good alternative for nintendo-centric news? I've occasionally browsed around, but haven't really found anything better than this site in a similar format, sadly.
@Wildvine53 To be honest, there are a lot more issues with the games than this (removal of features, poor optimization of the wild area, seeming lack of any real innovation...) but this is what kickstarted the controversy surrounding the game.
@TeslaChippie @Wildvine53 This has been repeated time and time again; because quality animations and models were given as the excuse for removing half of the Pokémon from the game, yet we’ve failed to see any noteworthy improvement in either category.
This is awesome for any one who still needs a set! Though I can't help but feel slightly disappointed by the inability to purchase these anywhere else in Europe or in the US...
@progx But... It DOESN'T make sense. The majority of the marketing surrounding the switch emphasizes its "play anywhere" philosophy. While sticking to a home console might put it up there with the PS4/XBOne in terms of power, that's clearly not a concern for Nintendo; it goes against their entire design philosophy. And that's not even getting into the issue of games that utilize undocked mode prominently, be it for the touchscreen or something more.
@duffmmann While that’s a fair opinion, think of it this way; they are selling a physical copy of the game. Now whether you want it for collection, the cartridge or to save memory, whatever. But you want to buy a physical version nonetheless, so when half of the PHYSICAL package is forced onto you DIGITALLY, it makes sense to be a little irritated.
Everything I've been looking up says it'll be posted on the Nintendo UK channel at the listed time. Maybe it's Youtube messing things up with the upload?
@BenAV Exactly. I may be a niche case, but I have about a dozen games on the backburner that I really want to get through, so I don't mind not shelling out another 200 bucks in the next several months.
Unless I missed it, you might want to mention the actual price in the review. I like the review and have already decided not to buy the game, but it whether the price is 30 or 40 pounds/euros/etc could make the difference for some people.
Really? I get complaining about a Pokémon only being available by buying/having another game, but this article is frankly asinine. Pokémon has always done this, be it through Version exclusives or the Ranger games. But beyond that, how many people are honestly COMPLETING THE POKÉDEX in Go without being invested enough in Pokémon to buy the main series entry. I could understand complaining about needing to use Go if it was a paid app to unlock something in a main game, but complaining about it the other way around is beyond ridiculous. Not to mention that, as people have already pointed out, this paywall that you mention DOESN’T EVEN EXIST. I cannot fathom how anyone could possibly be this upset over something this insignificant.
@Big_Ounce Because it seems like a lot of people seem to think that port=low effort cashgrab.
While there's obviously some degree of fanboyism involved in the defense, I think calling so many games ports, particularly when some clearly aren't, also discredits the efforts of the developers. People shouldn't disrespect creator's efforts just because a game is visually and mechanically similar (especially when they ignore all the changes, adjustments and new content). That's just my opinion though.
This is an interesting interview, but I'm real tired of people trying to force the narrative that this game, and especially Splatoon 2 are just "enhanced ports". Anyone with a shred of objectivity should be able to tell that these are new games just by informing themselves or spending any length of time with the games.
@TeeJay This. All of this. Aside from that, the site's pretty much perfect, but these two things make me want to drop this site in favor of something else.
@Damo But this was revealed during the week, on Friday. And if you do take the weekend off, why post it now, on Sunday night instead of waiting until Monday morning since the timegap wouldn't have been significant? If you took the weekend off but wanted to post this article during that time-period anyway, why wouldn't you post it earlier, on Saturday? I don't mean to be overly critical, but I do find it a bit confusing.
It doesn't seem like this game fixed the issues I had with the first one. Namely, the repetitiveness of repeatedly killing Titans in the exact same way every time (which, to be fair, is true to the show) and the entire loot/upgrade/skill system feeling kind of unnatural and unnecessary. Swinging around is fun for a few hours, but it very quickly gets repetitive.
As disappointed as I am, the lack of a Switch version makes sense. That doesn't change my irritation towards the half-year wait for the PC port, as well as the lack of localization for MHXX though.
